Microsoft SoftGrid is flippin' awesome.
It's piracy made easy!
In case you never heard about it, here's the
skinny: It's application virtualization,
which enables most windows apps to run locally
without you actually having to install the app.
It makes the windows app act kinda like a java
applet does inside of a Java sandbox. Make no
mistake this s**t has nothing to do with java. How
it works, erm.. it's rather complicated but
try to imagine an MSI file, which doesn't
leave any s**t on your rig!
And to the usual fuckers who cry trojan at the
drop of a hat, calm down and RTFM before having a
seizure. This thing is legit.
A friend of mine uses it to make packages of
everthing from office, nero, games, tools and all
the usual crap one just needs to have around. You
can have 4 different versions of the same app on
your system concurrently, without worrying about
your system getting trashed or the apps
overwriting each others dll files, etc
This torrent contains
- The softgrid server, aparently not really
necessary,
but useful for pushing out desktop icons and
filetype associations
- The softgrid client. there are 2 installers,
one for regular windows (2k and up)
and one for terminalserver
- The softgrid sequencer, which is the tool you
use to make the softgrid packages
- All the docs and release notes
Note: Getting the client on your machine is piece
of cake. It needs to allocate a driveletter I
think. However, the server and sequencer stuff is
not exactly supereasy to get up and running. If
you're a next-next-finish-kinda-guy, you
might want to pass on this torrent and let someone
experienced in packaging software take a look at
it. You'll actually need to read a pdf or two
before you can start making packages. A couple of
