Some history on this recording.

This extremely rare demo is highly significant because it contains the definitive version of two of Mickey Newbury's very best songs. The opening medley and most of the covers are dispensable, save for a stunning rendition of Gershwin's "Summertime", reinterpreted as hardcore blues. No, the real reason for this stunning recording to be sought out is the highly emotional and effective medley of two songs written by Newbury himself - "Just Dropped In" and "Wish I Was". The power in those 7 and 1/2 minutes more than equals anything else he ever recorded. Personally, it's one of the best recordings I've heard by any artist, ever. No exaggeration.
