The Mummy – Uncut released on DVD in 2008
In the distant past when the Egyptian empire was
vast, Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo), the high priest of
Pharaoh Seti I (Aharon Ipalé) had fallen
for, and was doing naughty things with the main
concubine of the Pharaoh, Anck Su Namun (Patricia
Velasquez). They were caught although not before
they had killed the Pharaoh; she committed suicide
and Imhotep was caught when trying to resurrect
his loved one. He was cursed and subjected to the
Homdai which basically means that he is mummified
alive with flesh eating scarab beetles for
company. He was then buried in a mystical city
called Hamunaptra where he is to stay for
eternity.
Eternity ends in 1923 when Rick O’Connell
(Brendan Fraser) is with the Foreign Legion,
fighting a battle at the ancient city. He acquires
a map which eventually falls into the hands of
Jonathan (John Hannah) and his Egyptologist sister
Evelyn (Rachel Weisz). The three of them band
together to find city and the ancient treasure
that the map hints at. Once there they find the
book of the dead which Eve makes the big mistakes
of reading from and resurrects Imhotep who after
3000 years still wants to bring his beloved Anck
Su Namun back to life. They of course need to find
a way to stop him.
