Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs is gebaseerd op de gelijknamige animatiefilm. Terwijl de oude bekenden Sid, Manny en Diego over de ijzige toendra trekken, ontdekken ze ineens de Dinosaur World. Hier begint een avontuur dat de bekende diertjes meevoert naar een wereld waarvan zij niet eens wisten dat hij bestond.

In dit actiespel kun je kiezen uit diverse bekende karakters om de meer dan vijftien levels tot een goed einde te brengen. Met onder andere Sid, Manny en Diego moet je vijanden verslaan, obstakels ontwijken en benarde situaties overleven, want de wereld van de dinosaurussen herbergt een aantal onbekende gevaren. Naast platformactie en enkele puzzels, zijn er ook verschillende minigames aanwezig. Deze minigames zijn ook met meerdere spelers te spelen.

As the unlikely herd travels across the tundra and beyond, they stumble upon another world - a lush Dinosaur World teeming with jungles, mysterious plants, fierce dinosaurs, wild new adventures and several new friends. Taking on the role of more than six playable characters, including everyone's favorite Ice Age friends and newly introduced characters, players master their unique skills and abilities across more than 15 action-packed levels.

In addition to the expanded features of the single-player gameplay, for the first time in an Ice Age game, players can team up with friends and family in eight competitive multiplayer mini-games.
