THE LION MAN

Meet Craig Busch - the Lion Man. His exciting family friendly television series, the Lion man, has now broadcast in over 20 countries worldwide, and was a primetime hit on New Zealand's TV2.

Craig has one of the largest big cat breeding programmes in the world, with an incredible collection of endangered big cats including white lions, royal white Bengal tigers, barbary lions and Bengal tiger.

All these species are extinct in the wild. Now he has brought these incredible cats to New Zealand - in an effort to save them.

In this 23 part TV2 series we follow Craig as hr builds a permanent sanctuary for the 32 animals in New Zealand's Far North.

"We're building the Cats a lifestyle in captivity that they deserve - to ensure the future of the species" says Craig.

Along the way we experience the highs and lows of this dedicated team as they battle to build the sanctuary - to preserve the cats.

But they're not just any cats - and this is no ordinary story.

We see the joy of the birth of extremely rare Tiger cubs, we watch as one Lion paves his way to television stardom, we travel to Australia to deliver cubs to the Crocodile Hunter and most importantly we join in and help - as a community gathers together to assist with the construction of the sanctuary. The series also frequently visits South Africa where Craig has an exchange programme underway, and Thailand.

Craig has both bred and imported the animals over a 5 year period, building up the largest breeding programme for Royal White Bengal Tigers in Australasia.

With only 80 of these Tigers left in the world, Craig feels a major responsibility to ensure his cats - both breed and survive.

His Barbary Lions are also extinct in the wild.

From a young age, Craig has had an inert sense of wonder and love for the animals - allowing him to establish a unique relationship with these beautiful Cats.

His Lions are already television stars, as will be revealed in the series, and they move on to bigger and better things as we film.

Now, after many years the focus of his attention is the creation of the Zion Wildlife Park in New Zealand Far North. It is 75% complete and we follow them as the finishing touches to a lifetime dream are completed.
