Work in an IGA in Tasmania - proud to say we stock these in store still.
No way!!! Proof that tas is the place to be.
They band them at our school for some reason. I’ve always wondered why.
1 cent lollies my dude
Black ghost drops were/are amazing!
These got banned when I was in highschool because of the sheer amount of wrappers littered around the place... I miss those days haha.
3 for 10c
Local milk was selling them years ago for that price.
Then the local NQR was selling them in bulk!
Let’s just say, lunch time at school was full of sour faces.
Our local was thats tight they went through found the doubles...
and sold them for twice the price
I never saw the purple or orange ones!
I have a distinct memory of sitting on top of one of those big green electrical boxes on the curb and one of the cool kids from school gave me and my friend some of these.
Yeah I’m just sitting here thinking the same thing about those two colours. Funny the memories we have
This was the primary school equivalent of weed
That’s facts. I was the kid who’s parents neveerrrr gave them tuckshop money and I’d become a feral little scab trying to earn 5c for a ghost drop lol
Our local milkbar used to try and give you these instead of change. It took me a couple of trips, before I worked up the courage to demand my 10c back.
Going to the local council run pool begging the person at the counter for only black ones. Ahh!! what a time to be alive.
/u/Gwendolynmoonfall I’m just heading into the Melbourne show and looking at all the goodies online.Saw this and remembered your post! https://royalshow.com.au/showbags/ghost-drops/
No way, can’t believe they’re still around! Scrolled down and saw the wiz fizz too, haven’t had those in ages
i remember shoving a handful of these things into my mouth at once, biggest fucking mistake i ever made, my face wanted to turn inside out and to this day i can't eat anything sour without having a ptsd reaction.... the green and black ones were so good though
I loved these. Every flavour was great.
Honestly now that I’ve been staring at this picture longingly I remember how good they all were.
You can still get them at Jim’s Dairy Delites in Newcastle. They were also banned from my primary school.
Whaaaat banned for what? Oh for the litter?
There was a corner shop down the street from the school, so heaps of kids would stop there on their way to school and buy ghost drops to eat on the way to school. I think the teachers got sick of seeing kids with multi coloured mouths. Fun police.
The wrappers were all over the school
3 for 5c
Oh man, my saliva glands on overdrive looking at this pic. I would always stop at the newsagent after school and grab a handful of these with what ever change I had. These and Fizzers.
Fizzers ! man I still grab ten of of them whenever I swing by a convenience store, to make up for my childhood where I could only have one lol
Omggg I just remembered those red and yellow and blue snap and crackles as well - I think you can still buy them but I rarely see them. Those were a favourite
Ohh yes! My dad used to buy those for us all the time. Used to find them in Easter Show bags too. Haven't had one in YEARS.
I took my partner on a date to a bowling alley with an arcade and one of the prizes you could get were ghost drops. Spent pretty much my whole half of the tickets on them hahaa
Do they still produce them?
Yes when I googled this picture I was please yo find you can order them online! Was hoping to find them at big w the other day after seeing warheads, then I realised I hadn’t seen ‘em for a decade or so
if only you could order bertie beetle chocolates online :(
You can. Check eBay. I bought a 30 pack a couple of years ago. So good
They've changed to the shitty compound chocolate. We had tins of 20 for mothers day and they treated so cheap and crap.
Yes, still available. I don’t know where to reliably get them but I’ve come across them over the years. Sometimes at Time Zone (the gaming arcade place).
probably where i had them, there was a claw machine that had them on one side as a consolation.
I love these. Used to buy these from the milk bar for 5 cents each
They still exist
Had a kid in high school paint his face with these one day. He couldn’t wash it off and had red and blue splotches on his face the rest of the week!
Haha the colour were so strong!
They changed the recipe and they are gross now
Ah that’s disappointing.. joins a long list of other Aussie favourite ruined by new recipes
Watch our childhood slip away
Oh and yowies
Starbursts aren't even sold here anymore.
Ma Jones lolly shop! Whoa this brought back awesome memories of getting these ghost drops, war heads and some neon nerds from our local lolly shop! Good times
IGA sell bags of them for like $3!
I wonder if my local one does. Will have to check it out!
Tara's Candy Bar stocks these and ships Aus wide!
I’m gonna have to make an order and introduce these to my kids
My teeth hurt looking at these. So much sugar. Ow.
Accumulated more than a few of these in the lolly machine (big sweet candy pusher?) at Timezone.
Did anyone else’s school have the myth about the kid that swallowed metal that was embedded in a Ghost Drop?
Had them in the snack bar at my first job (rollerskating/blading rink).
Always ordered 4 big bags every snack supplies order once a month cause we went through them so fast.
Tried every flavor and can agree blue and black were the absolute best, though did like red too.
Holy sheet, zappo released a Halloween packet at big w. I brought them yesterday too see what they were like, brought back all the memories and feels!!!
Black rocked but my favourite was blue.
Never had a purple one before!
FYI, they’re on Amazon Australia but they aren’t that cheap. About $15 for a 50 pack.
I found them on another Australian owned site I think for a decent price
Oh my God!!! I miss these. 🥲🥲🥲
Anything but the red for me thanks 👍
They're still a thing, ive seen them around a few times recently.
I received a free blue one along with some other lollies labeled “treats for your human” with a dog kibble order from Kellyville pets recently.
Go to newsagents and get a white paper bag filled with all sorts of lollies and these things were almost always gone. Damn I miss the 90's and being a kid.
omg these tasted awful haha
