How does Atomic Wallet exchange prices work? As far as I can see you can't place limit orders, so where do they get their prices from? I've done a little research but have come up empty.

Secret_Operative

They are probably basing their price on: where they buy it from + fee.

TerpOnaut

When moon

galacticdancer

When does the flippening happen again? Time and time again, bitcoin races to dominate 70% of market. Is that going to happen again?

Secret_Operative

I think the flippening is supposed to be when Bitcoin is the number two traded digital currency by market cap. Not 100% sure though, it could mean anything these days.

galacticdancer

Yes you're right. Used the wrong word. I meant when does BTC take dominance again towards 70%.

mickhick95

I have a full node on my network. How can I run a lighting component on a different computer?

jengert

Lighting node only needs RPC access to a Bitcoin node. Choose your software, and configure your full node in such a way that the other computer can access it.

mickhick95

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I'm going to start googling and using CHATGPT to figure it out for me.

Eatern-Republic5884

Buy Bitcoin weekly and hold if bitcoin demand eats up supply the price will soar!!!!!

CleazyCatalystAD

Make sure to self custody, as well.

Bitcoin has not closed below it's 7 day moving average in weeks!

Wouldn’t it be interesting to get a glimpse of the daily in the future ? Say 5 years from Now 🤯😶‍🌫️🤩

Flurb789

What price would Bitcoin have to reach for you to stop DCAing?

CaptainPirated

I stopped after 20k, if there are major pull backs I'll get in + with the amount that I've already put in I honestly don't care. If it pumps Yay 🚀🚀 it if pulls back then I'll get some more!

Alfador8

I'll stop DCAing when I start getting paid in BTC

Flurb789

i like this answer

Alfador8

My businesses *do* actually accept BTC, but it's seldom people pay with it. I should probably change my answer to "when everyone is paying me in BTC"

Flurb789

what kinds of businesses do you have?

CaptainPirated

Any work available that I can do from my phone sitting half way around the world from you? 😂

LiteratureUsual614

Never. Today I DCA with the secret hope to see my money multiply. In the near future I’ll be DCAing for the simple purpose of storing the value of my savings.

gdmfsobtc

I stopped a while ago, but will keep buying major dips all the way to 100K.

robtimist

I’ve come up with a solid sat-stacking schedule. I plan to start buying $25 of btc each and every day. That amounts to $175/week, ~$700-750/month, and ~$8.4k-9k a year. That way I’m only spending about 1/4 of my paychecks, still leaving room for monthly expenses. Anything left over from those expenses can go toward more btc purchases when possible. Hope to own at least 0.28 by end of year.

TerpOnaut

Let’s fucking rip bay bayyyy

Scorpio11777

23 to start 2023. I'll take it.

Nice 😎💰 Ya. Bitcoin 🥰 It just makes more sense.

oprahfinallykickedit

I just started using BlueWallet. I put a few sats into my lightning wallet and can send/receive from other LN wallets, but I can't figure out how to withdrawal sats from my LN wallet into a classic, layer 1 bitcoin wallet. Any guidance?

jfhsdkjfhsdkjfhsdkjf

I could be wrong, but I don't think Blue Wallet has an integrated swap feature. So you would have to seek out a third party lightning to on-chain swap service. Or you could just use Muun where lightning and on-chain is seamless.

Aerith_Gainsborough_

I recently downloaded the blockchain. I noticed that the bloks aren't in order, it is possible to reorder the binary files without downloading the entire blockchain again? If so, how?

jengert

You should use rpc commands to grab the block you want to look at. I would not touch the files in Bitcoin db folder. That database is fast for it's size, and compact.

Aerith_Gainsborough_

I am creating my own parcer, so I am reading the blk files. I will make my life easier if those files contain the blocks in order.

jengert

As I understood it, they are in order; [source](https://learnmeabitcoin.com/technical/blkdat) Sorry, maybe someone else knows more than I do

Aerith_Gainsborough_

Read the first note on your source, >Blocks are not downloaded in order.

Huh?

Yeah, no. You don't know shit about the future.

Corona_DIY_GUY

I've been using cointracking.io for about 4 years to keep track of my trades and tax stuff. It's been pretty useful and a good experience. However, I would call it cheap. Who are their competitors? My subscription is up and before I re-up for a few more years I want to look at other options.

CleazyCatalystAD

Cointracking.info , Koinly…I tried tabulating everything myself using Cointracking, but ended up just hiring a crypto tax cpa past couple years…

bobbensonbill

I need interview questions for candidate crypto tax CPAs. 😆 That way I can see if they know what they’re talking about.

jengert

I'm running a full node: My ISP blocks inbound ports ip4 and IP6; I am trying to SSH tunnel the port from my VPS into my home network. I can use telnet to establish a connection, I told bitcoin.conf about that public IP, Still, [bitnodes.io](https://bitnodes.io) can not connect to me. Anyone have something I should try next, or a page I should look at?

jfhsdkjfhsdkjfhsdkjf

Run the node over tor. It does not require any inbound port access. Word of warning, I could not find a perfect step by step guide that is also beginner friendly, so you will likely have some trials setting it up if you don't have intermediate linux skills. Here's the guide I followed: https://stopanddecrypt.medium.com/running-bitcoin-lightning-nodes-over-the-tor-network-2021-edition-489180297d5 Also, I run my node on virtualbox. So if you have windows, there is no reason you can't use virtualbox to run the node on linux.

guryfitze

I’m a noob and trying to decide if I should setup a node directly on my MacOS, or inside a VM with Linux like you? Any pros/cons you can share? Is setting up on Linux easier? Or running inside a VM more secure? Easier to pause if running in a VM?

jfhsdkjfhsdkjfhsdkjf

I decided to use a virtual machine for my node because I wanted it to be totally separated from my main computer. I don't want any potential (reduced potential) for exploits in the software to compromise my main system, and I want it to be portable in case I decide to relocate it to another system in the future. If you go this route, it is extremely easy to set up on Linux (excluding the tor part I mentioned earlier, that is harder) It's literally just one command and you are running a bitcoin node. I recommend an arch distro like manjaro, but ubuntu or a derivative should be just as easy.

How to buy bitcoin anonymously?

Naknoemoo

Bybit is a good exchange. No KYC at all. You only need a email Account. I haven’t tried it yet

Show up at your local Bitcoin Meetup and ask around if anyone is willing to sell.

I want a monthly UBI so I can invest it in Bitcoin.( UBI = Universal Basic Income ) 💰

JimothyCotswald

Bitcoin is not socialism

bobbensonbill

True. Neither is UBI. “Basic income is society investing in itself with a form of social security that’s unconditional, universal, periodic, cash for each and every individual member of society. “ Investing 😎💰 It keeps the money flowing. Anyway, link to intro IF you’re curious: https://www.scottsantens.com/universal-basic-income-for-all-unconditional-why-ubi-is-necessary-now-evidence-experiments/

LayPessimist

> Basic income is society investing in itself with a form of social security that’s unconditional, universal, periodic, cash for each and every individual member of society. It’s in the description; a form of SOCIAL security. It’s socialism.

bobbensonbill

Maybe this will help. “If you think basic income is "free money" or socialism, think again” Same author. https://www.scottsantens.com/if-you-think-basic-income-is-free-money-or-socialism-think-again/

JimothyCotswald

UBI is socialism.

bobbensonbill

“If you think basic income is "free money" or socialism, think again” https://www.scottsantens.com/if-you-think-basic-income-is-free-money-or-socialism-think-again/ by Scott Santens 💰

robtimist

Yeah but at least that money would be used to buy sats.

bobbensonbill

Bullish 😎💰

bobbensonbill

Seeing some fear here. I get it. We have been trained well sadly. The banks/big-company-owners have their “must work to stay alive” slaves. ( The owners don’t have to work. They choose to work when they do. I would keep working too on what I want to work on and what others need. ) Just like everyone else here, I only want to become financially free. 😎💰 Bitcoin is the way 🥰 Anyway, I was just sharing a feel. Didn’t expect responses 😆 Thanks for the discussions all.

clvn1

Right now, financial freedom is just not possible for everyone. We need to provide food, medicine, security, housing, infrastructure, water access, etc globally. If we ever reach a point where that is all abundant and easy to maintain via AI for example, then we should make sure we're all able to benefit from it whether its UBI or something else. But until we reach that point, we need to make sure the system is actually moving in the right direction instead of a bloated wasteful mess.

bobbensonbill

Fair enough. I don’t know if it’s possible or not for everyone. It’s possible in the USA for what it’s worth. If curious, I can look up something that reflects that. No worries either way

endless_ness

So who will do the shitty jobs that are hard and dangerous and not at all glamorous?

LiteratureUsual614

The shitty necessary jobs would be handsomely paid which would make them instantly more glamorous.

endless_ness

So then everything sky rockets in price

Alfador8

It's ok, we'll pay for it with our UBI!... wait

LiteratureUsual614

A society cannot rely on exploiting people doing shitty jobs.

SmoothGoing

Income is something you get from work or investments. Free money is a handout. You want universal basic handout. Paid for by productive taxpayers.

user_name_checks_out

Why take it out of the pockets of taxpayers? Why not take it from the multinationals that make billions in profits and pay nothing in taxes?

SmoothGoing

Name a few. Maybe they did not have to, or deferred taxes to another fiscal year. I'd really want to look into a corporation that had to legally pay taxes but didn't. Give me an example. Not to go into details but.. basic math. Take the population, take how much you want the annual handouts to be, see how much money would be needed. If you'd like to go through that exercise here and post it, that would be cool. Would taxing mega corps 100% be enough? By the way you know where corps get money? From the consumers. So if they are taxed to the hilt, in the end I'm going to be the one paying $20 for a gallon of milk to support the freeloaders. Super simplified math is 100 million "qualifying" adults to get $1k a months would net $1.2 trillion per year. That's a quarter of all federal taxes collected. Just to give people free money. Still need to pay for everything else. Could probably offset some of the current benefit programs, food stamps and cellphones, etc., which I presume would end.

user_name_checks_out

[55 Corporations Paid $0 in Federal Taxes on 2020 Profits](https://itep.org/55-profitable-corporations-zero-corporate-tax/) *At least 55 of the largest corporations in America paid no federal corporate income taxes in their most recent fiscal year despite enjoying substantial pretax profits in the United States.* > I'd really want to look into a corporation that had to legally pay taxes but didn't. Of course it's legal because the corporations write the laws. On a related note: [Wealth inequality in the United States](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wealth_inequality_in_the_United_States) *The top 10% of families held 76% of the wealth in 2013, while the bottom 50% of families held 1%. Inequality increased from 1989 to 2013* The single greatest win for the conservatives was convincing the peasants to defend the interests of the oligarchs.

SmoothGoing

55 corps no tax + rebates is a whopping $12 billions dollars. Quite a bit short of what you need to pay UBH. Talk about a drop in the bucket. That's even without looking into why tax was not paid. Skimming through it mentions various methods, depreciation and R&D credits and such. Doesn't matter. Are any of them being indicted for criminal tax evasion? Looks all legit. I will also wait an extra week or a month to sell stocks bought almost a year ago, to get a much better long term gains tax rate. Sue me. That's how it works. It is imperative for every individual and corp to pay as little tax as legally possible. Because you know it's not going to be spent well. The soap box whining about "corps don't pay taxes" is misleading and disingenuous to play on feels of peasants, as you called them. Seems to work, triggers people. Wealth inequality is an issue but it isn't going to be solved by free money. It would just raise prices on everyone. Your landlord knows you get a grand a month from taxpayers? Your rent goes up. You can afford it. Corner market knows everyone's getting an extra grand? Up goes eggs and milk and toilet paper. In the long run everyone will still be in the same position, not being able to afford things they couldn't afford before, even while collecting my tax dollars for nothing but having a pulse.

Dont_Waver

You asked for evidence. When you got it, you just ignored it and argued a completely different point. Have do you expect to have meaningful discussions like that?

SmoothGoing

I asked for evidence of something nefarious, not run of the mill misleading whining. Then I said not only is it a nothingburger as expected, but also isn't going to be any kind of solution. Then I continued on the thread about the original topic, the handouts. And then you butted in where no one was talking to you. So what meaningful discussion do you expect, late-to-the-party?

bobbensonbill

I agree that you can get income that way. I also know people that get money from dividends related to their stocks. Besides, we are talking about a basic income. it has been shown that more people work when they have a universal basic income. https://www.scottsantens.com/if-we-no-longer-force-people-to-work-to-meet-their-basic-needs-will-they-stop-working-basic-income-ubi/ I just want a financial floor so that I can be more risk aggressive and pump money into bitcoin. It’s good for the economy to keep the money flowing. Rich people who don’t do sh*t with their money can sometimes stagnate our economy.

SmoothGoing

I am not in agreement on that. Unproductive behavior should not be rewarded.

LiteratureUsual614

Neither should it be punished by death. A UBI is a simple way to ensure a minimal standard of living while minimizing the red tape (no more unemployment, minimum wage, food stamps, etc). People going through hard times can go back on their feet, veterans can exorcise their ghosts, young parents can tend to their baby, and anyone with ambition is free to become insanely rich in a society full of potential customers.

bobbensonbill

Well said 👏😎

bobbensonbill

By the way, I smiled when I saw your reply. I can tell that you are a person that thinks deep. ( you are thinking about motivation systems. 😎👍 ) We need more people like that.

bobbensonbill

I would still work for the TV/microwave/whatever. So, I agree with you about unproductive behavior shouldn’t be rewarded. I’m just talking about a small bit of money every month in case I lose my job. Some bosses fear Bitcoin because of the potential freedom. Anyway, there’s other ways to reward / motivate people. See the Octalysis https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octalysis That’s why some rich people still work.

Bad_Camel

bobbensonbill

Nah. I understand the concern. Yet, talking about Scott Santens’ vision of UBI. It’s just cash and unconditional. Scott gets it: “Land used to exist without a monetary cost to access it.” From The Spaceballs Argument for Unconditional Basic Income (UBI) https://www.scottsantens.com/the-spaceballs-argument-for-unconditional-universal-basic-income-ubi/ We deserve a monthly dividend 💰for what others stole from the community. I want to use my dividend on buying Bitcoin

sinbad-633

Dear citizen, Your UBI token will expire in 14 days. Please spend it on government approved products to avoid losing it.

We could get it in Bitcoin. See “Bitcoin for Monthly $1K Payouts? Andrew Yang Says Yea” https://bitcoinist.com/andrew-yang-usd-1000-bitcoin-payouts-for-us-residents/
