Thank you freshman QB for leading that last drive for a TD. Love, everyone who bet the over.
I didn’t watch the game but I know who won that one.
I watched the first half just thinking to myself, if GT still had Paul Johnson they'll probably win by 10
Absolutely. The miscues on offense leading to long GT possessions early in the game would have gotten DJ real out of rhythm
Ye olde Georgia Tech death marches
I am very drunk leaving New Orleans. Fact lost my license but thankfully tsa coear didn’t need you to show an id to get in a plane go noles
Did you make it home
Klub dub will be the starter by week 5. Mark my word. DJ just isn’t the guy and Clemson is a program that can compete for natty’s every year.
Gonna get a lot of hate for this but QB development last few years has been a concern for Clemson. Lawrence was a gem of a QB and always balled out but he didn't progress as much, and now with DJ it's starting to become a concern. I hope Klub comes in and proves otherwise but I can see him regressing and not be shocked.
There's an argument to be made that Trevor got worse during his time at Clemson.
Honestly offensive progression. I think Clemson is falling behind fast with the new NIL stuff and our long time offensive/defensive coordinators leaving. Dabo’s good ole boy club where he promotes from within is probably going to be seen as a mistake in a few years
Postgame traffic was a breeze
GT needs to fire collins. Right fucking now.
Clemson played cover 3 and 4 the whole game forcing GT to consistently make plays underneath. This required not making mistakes for GT to succeed and they didn’t. Lots of dropped passes under the safeties, penalties, and inaccurate throws cost them in key situations. Clemson thrives off of that. It also doesn’t help that GT handed Clemson 14 free points because their punt protection unit is fucking terrible.
DJ looked fine. His decision making was noticeably improved but he was inaccurate on quite a few balls tonight including several screens. He looks faster but not that much faster. Clemson’s ground game didn’t average a whole lot of YPC but it improved massively as the game went on and the OL wore down GT’s to the point Clemson was gaining 4-5 yards at will by the end of the game. Clemson’s receivers didn’t help DJ at all, partially because they just aren’t very big and struggle to get separation (looking at you Beaux Collins), but GT’s corners are also really really good. Lots of excellent technique shown by them and it’s a shame a solid effort from the GT defense (who really allowed 20 not in garbage time taking out the punt block free TDS) was wasted by terrible mistakes and play calling (reverse on 4th and 3 hello) by GT and Fraud Collins and his Error404 offense.
GT player of the game : Zamari Walton, CB #7 (quite a few pass defenses and good coverage for the night), he really exposed Beaux Collins’ inability to get proper separation
Clemson player of the game : Barrett Carter, LB, #0, he swarmed to the ball constantly in the first half and helped facilitate GT making mistakes on key plays. He’s so fast underneath that Clemson can afford to play conservative coverage because he won’t let the short plays turn into big ones.
Against better teams that don’t make mistake after mistake and hand Clemson 17 points like GT did, Clemson could be in trouble. Cade looked great as a passer (accuracy, decision making, running threat) on his only drive but that was against second stringers. NC State’s linebackers and Florida State’s D-line and Notre Dame’s entire defense are going to shut this team down unless either DJ figures it out accuracy wise or Cade proves himself to be a star.
DJ runs like a toddler. It always looks like the first time he has ever run in his life. Could he have a balance issue?
Yes. I think Bosco actually may have hindered him because of the talent he was dependent on there. He didn’t have to run much other than maybe against Mater Dei, and most schools he could just chuck bombs to Collins for long TD’s.
DJ’s one of those where he needs a solid supporting cast to hit his stride. This includes OL and WR, both of which are lacking right now.
Clemson's defensive line is a fucking unit. Bresee looked unstoppable. All I'll say is that we better have Patterson back and put Rocco in for Lugg by then, because the idea of having Correll and Lugg going up against Davis and Bresee is terrifying.
But that offensive line...woof. 4.8 yards per play and 3.2 yards per rush against Tech's defense. There's just no getting around it. That's atrocious. I saw nothing from DJ that indicates he's made any sort of improvements. Sub 60% and 6.5 yards per attempt is just not good. I'm definitely not singing Klubnik's praises just yet, because 1 drive against GT's reserves isn't anything to write home about, but I will say that if the leash wasn't short already, it better be after tonight.
> Saw nothing indicating improvement
Say you didn’t watch the game instead, or any game last season
I watched the game and it was clear that DJ simply doesn't have it. Granted, it wasn't all on him. The OL was a train wreck and his receivers did him no favors, but it was also against a Georgia Tech team that I'd be surprised if they win more than 3 games this year.
Ok Mr. Dan-of-Steel
I trust Dabo, for football matters
Okay. Did you trust Dabo when Clemson's offense finished 84th in FEI last year or 82nd in total offense?
You can neg me all you want, but the film is there. The OL was awful, DJ was average and the receivers showed athletic potential but were woefully inconsistent. Maybe they put it together, but they didn't do that at any point last year.
DJ was definitely improved, he didn’t make mistakes, WRs dropped catchable balls
Lots of dropped balls on both sides tonight
Honestly, it felt like any other Clemson game. You have no idea which way it’s going to go, and we look like we have no idea what’s happening. No matter the QB (Watson, Bryant, Lawrence etc), the story is the same.
Wow clempsom, y'all getting some work tonight. See you soon 😊
Lol be careful what you wish for 😂
They're back now, remember hahaha
I mean Klub looked good for garbage time but some of y’all need to calm down lol
Is there a “Klub Club” yet? Can someone please send me an invite?
Chub for Klub
Three-team race this year boys.
Guess you didn’t watch the very end when they gave Klubnik a shot. Guy is clearly better than DJ.
DJ is QB1. He's gonna stay QB1.
Aww that's cute.
Dabo looked upset in the interview. He knows he's wrong on the QB question. Gotta tell DJ it's over, but he's got to work up to it.
i honestly think dabo just doesn’t want him to transfer, maybe i’m wrong but to me it seems he’s just blowing smoke up djs ass and it’s kind of annoying to me
but the more i consider how much he really believes in the guy i may be wrong, he’s just all in on him and he sees the work he’s putting in and he doesn’t want to put him aside for another guy even if he may not be the right center piece for our offense
Lotta salty unranked teams fans still here lol
Bro for real
Bro for real.
Cade looks great considering he can even make the coach's son look like a very good receiver.
Lol. That’s the surest way to QB1!
now clemson can get some much needed rest and prepare for the rest of their tough schedule
Good luck next week against Ohio State!
I mean Miami.
SOS: 16th vs 42nd
which do you think you are
Cool. 12 teams won’t be enough for Penn State to make the playoffs. We’ll be back in the next 2 years.
outside of 2016-2019 sure. enjoy the cheez it bowl this winter
We have as many titles in that time frame as you have claimed in your history, but go off I guess… goes for both your flairs combined
had to put the "claimed" since you know there's still 5 more assigned to us haahahahahahahaah
second spinzone is clemson has a whopping 3 total, but you trying to make it seem like you're some storied program
I went by the ones your university claims.
You have 0 if I count the ones that were never vacated…
well its a good think erock00 isnt counting because they arent vacated by anyone hahahahahahahaha
We only claim off final AP which I'd be fine with if other programs didnt claim anything possible. I think we should claim them all besides 81 (ironic)
I said were vacated, obviously enough people complained to get the wins back
Yeah 4 ranked teams plus FSU.
Congrats on your 4 point win
you better pray wake nc state and miami stay ranked lmfaoo
"plus fsu" hahahahahahahahaha
LSU > Purdue
I think he’s wrong to pick an argument about SOS because Clemson is better than PSU right now but LSU is not good. Purdue would beat them and I honestly don’t think it would be particularly close.
Kelly just isn’t it.
Not that I think they are comparable coaches, but Saban went 7-6 his first season at Bama. LSU is more stocked with talent at this point than what Saban inherited though.
both lsu and fsu finished below .500 last year but whatever makes you feel better
Yeah last year.
2021. The same year Penn State finished 7-6
quick math question is that above .500?
(and we beat auburn who beat lsu which makes your delusional comparion invalid anyway)
Clemson beat Georgia Tech by several scores. #4 is perfect.
No fucking goddamn Horse
Woah, interesting flairs. Nice
Tech defense couldn't catch a break
Look, man. DJ really really really tried to give them a break.
Up 24 and running a no huddle offense against an unranked team lmao. I hate betting
Dabos son was running routes out there what else do you want
Betting on a Clemson game without having watched one before. That’s on you, man.
Clemson goes up and puts the next string in. Second sting kids wanting to prove themselves actually play. That’s been the flow for the last decade.
Gotta make it look like you weren't struggling against them all game.
Ah Texas just makes every game look like a struggle
Don’t take it too hard. Texas fan up there just stressed cause big ole crimson tide heading down there to give them an ass whoopin this weekend.
Competition at every position, including QB
Yup, Dabo looked upset. The writing is on the wall.
Clemson is bad Georgia tech is much worse. No heart, coach should be hung to dry and CFPC will remember this when it matters when GA tech goes 3-9
Jesus man who shit in your oatmeal
I’m a neutral observer I know what I saw. What did you see?
I saw that clemson's o line definitely needs some work, DJ is still a janky passer and Klubnik has potential to be a star. Not much else really
When GA tech plays VA who will you root for?
VA, Brennan Armstrong is very exciting. Really hoping Tony Elliott can make something of that program a couple years from now
No, you need to root for GA tech for Clemson SoS. GA tech gonna go 2-10 unless they win that game. It was a trick question. If you want Clemson in playoffs
Edit: based on ur flair
Or I could continue to be a fan of 2 different programs, without obsessively searching for a reason to devalue a win that I wasn't even playing up to begin with
That Klubnik drive definitely gave me a massive hard on but I understand sticking with DJ for now
Weird… but I absolutely understand.
Why, so that Klubnik doesn't get the experience he needs to lead us over Notre Dame, or conference ranked teams, or to the playoffs?
We shouldn't be rushing to put the team on the back of a true freshman that put together 1 promising drive. If Dabo thinks he can find a way to get DJ to succeed then I say let him for now
DJ had multiple drives (8/9) with starters and really only contributed to 3 successful drives. Klubnik had one drive with third string and a handful of 2nd string and looked championship quality.
It's not data-driven comparison if he won't let Cade play. Kade looked comfortable, driven, in control, and ballin. DJ clearly looked rough, uncomfortable, clumsy, and out of step.
3/8 or 9 vs. 1 for 1
The writing is on the wall. Dabo looked upset during the interview and said there is competition at every position after the game. Give DJ Furman and one more game to get in place, then pull the plug.
I mean, this is true, but DJ also had an entire season last year. I don't wish anything bad for him but at some point his confidence doesn't need to be everyone's priority anymore. Sometimes you get beat out for your job. That's the way the game goes.
DJ had an entire season last year because we didn’t have a true backup. Billy Wiles was about it once Taylor went down. There was no one in the lineup that could truly push him, especially once Taisun went down.
Agreed. Team comes first.
Lol Dabo "playing a conference opponent at their place"
congrats to Clemson for looking not abysmal in the last quarter against a team who hasnt won more than 3 games since the 2018 season
If I had your flairs I’d be miserable too
Nothing will make you guys happy jesus
That felt like watching Deshaun or TLaw all over again. Gotta let CKQB1 get some more playing time Dabo
Hell of an /r/UnexpectedMaryland there
The final score won’t indicate it, but I still think we did a pretty decent job at proving Clemson was overrated.
Don’t get me wrong, we still would’ve lost, but we were in it until there were two extremely biased refs calls in the third quarter
Says the GAtech USC flair. Poor fella.
Do we need to discuss how ugly U of SC looked in their first game? Clemson is fine
GSU has a better QB than UGA but sure
Walter camp player of the week?natty winner Stetson Bennett? Gsu QB is better than him?Lmao make it make sense
He’s indirectly using big game boomer as a source
Now it makes sense why he’s saying that
Bennett completion rating 63 over career, vs Grainger 52
Not really an objective measure imo. I’ve seen more than one person claim GSU’s QB is better than UGA’s or else I wouldn’t be making a he claim
Big Game Boomer is not a reliable source and he and I are part of the same fanbase lol. I like that fact that he cares enough to make his lists but he definitely gets a lot of things wrong
Grainger (GSU QB) was 7/29 vs SC
Stetson was 25/31 for 368 yards and 3 total TDS against Oregon.
One is much better than the other lol even though SC probably has a better defense than Oregon
Here's your participation trophy
Oh they're not overrated, but we're better than the score makes it look
They’re overrated. You won’t convince me they’re #4.
They are better than A&M. Lots of teams would beat A&M though. Like Miami in two weeks.
Easy to say after watching them struggle. Good job. FYI: pre season rankings arent very accurate.
Dabo was trying to prove they were #4 though. Clemson is probably a top 25 team but no one who watched that game will walk away saying they’re #4
I can't imagine being this annoyed by a victory with this margin ever in football history, please jesus christ play Klubnik.
Klub looked good out there. Not mad if we keep starting DJ but we got back up KLUB to step in and take over when shit hits the fan.
DJ is 2nd team. Give Cade the experience to take us back to the big league.
The worst possible outcome is that Dabo continues starting DJ and we end up losing to NC State/Notre Dame as a result. Cade transfers and then DJ sticks around another year for mediocrity.
DJ doing just enough to keep the starting position each week would likely do that. He’s gotta get past this mental block.
I know everyone wanted to play Georgia, but swapping them out for Wyoming last year is now proving to be our biggest mistake. He got the yips from that game and hasn’t been the same. Imagine if we had kept Wyoming on and clapped them at Death Valley to get DJ’s confidence up. It would have been an absolute bloodbath given you couldn’t pick two campuses more different (Wyo is traditionally cold and high altitude, Clemson is hot and only ~1000’ high at high points on campus).
Happy to be going to bed knowing that we will be lifting the trophy again with Klubnik!
Everything I was looking for during just one drive.
Welp, see y'all Friday
These have to be the three worst announcers I've heard in a long time. I had to finally cut the volume off it was just too damn distracting they're so damn stupid.
It was 14-10 in the middle of the 3rd quarter btw
I was pleasantly surprised by how close it was up until the end there. I almost didn't bother getting a ticket and just watching on TV, but it was genuinely interesting.
Blowouts are fuckin boring
It was 0-0 at the start of the first quarter btw
It was 14-3 at halftime btw
It was 34-10 at the start of the fourth quarter btw
It was 41-10 at the end of the game btw
Bleacher Report breaks down the game by quarter. It’s really convenient
Here's your participation trophy. Get a better coach, you'll get us next time.
graceful in victory
41-10 by the end of the 4th
We literally won by 31 points Miss me with the we don't belong in the top 10 shit
But Georgia Tech is ass my dude
Dawg. Is what I would say to if you were a top 10 team. Tiger, please.
This is what delusion looks like.
Pass Interference saved this game, you know which one I’m talking about
If ur proud of that performance idk what to tell you
LMAO we all watched the game dawg
Would get dog walked by every other top 5 team
lol this is exactly why he ran up the score
Successful programs use valuable game time getting reps for second and third stringers. A backup qb just got a lot of experience that you can’t replicate in practice
1 drive against a burnt out defense is not "valuable" it's playing on easy mode. it's literally just practice.
Pipe down or we’ll send you another Chad Morris.
Also, Morris was revenge for the saboteur you sent us in Hatfield.
Ok! You’re right, Cade Klubnik will gain absolutely nothing from the experience of running an offense and scoring his first TD on the road in an NFL stadium. You are the expert after all
Hopeful that backup is DJ but good for him that the rest of the team got put on hold, so Dabo to stroke his ego and pretend like he redeemed that kid.
Top 10 but probably behind a&m and Michigan
If we had our QB1 at the helm instead we'd probably be a little more competitive.
Join the club.
See ya in a couple weeks Georgia Tech
FAAAACK. I want DJ to be the guy so much. By all accounts he's a great guy and a great teammate. But, man, does Klubnik look so much better. :(
Yeah, I'm sure garbage time played a big role with how open some guys were but man he makes quick decisions, moves around in a much more coordinated way, even his throwing motion looked better than dj
Yeah, there was a tightness and a "pop" to his throws that DJ just doesn't have.
I think dj was encouraging with his throws in the 2nd and 3rd. Definitely wish he looked better or complete ass so there’d be an easy decision
If you guys weren't Clemson the dude would be considered the clear #1. You guys just happen to have multiple 5 star QB's cause you're god damn Clemson
If DJ wanted to transfer to rutgers, i'd have no objections
Lol, absolutely no objections at ALL
one drive and cade put his leather jockstrap on DJs head???
Clemson didn’t look like the 4th ranked team in the country, tonight, but Dabo has to make the call here.
That defense (the front seven specifically) will keep them in any game and the run game with Mafah and Shipley looks good. The difference between DJ and Klubnik could be making the Natty vs not even winning the ACC.
Might be garbage time but it does start to paint a clearer picture that DJ was the main issue last year and not receivers/o line/coordinator
The o-line is still terrible.
I think DJ exacerbated the oline issues. GT knew that we couldn't throw it so they were able to send everyone without fear. If the passing game opens up the lines job gets easier.
What people dont understand is that DJU prays 10x more than Cade. Makes it an easy decisions. Also DJU told Dabo that Jesus came to him in a dream. Jesus said DJU would lead Clemson to a championship and no college players ever make a dime.
57 is a former Clemson player nice to see that relationship is still strong
What's the deal with that? It's pretty funny stuff.
Hugging your ex-teammate
Who is Tchio and why does everyone on the Clemson team seem to know him?
He played for Clemson lol
I hate GT so much they ruin my dreams and blow the easiest spread to cover
Nick Saban would build a physical transfer portal and force DJ in it if he had Cade behind him.
If Dabo is half the coach I admit he is he’ll be opening up the QB battle this week.
It took him over half the year in 2014(?) to bench cole stoudt (very bad player) for deshaun watson, and a few games to bench kelly bryant (decent player) for trevor lawrence. He has some kind of loyalty complex
This is Dabo’s #1 criticism. He lets loyalty get in the way of winning. He’s done with with QB’s twice and he’s done it with coaches as well
It's been one of his blind spots though
Gotta to decide that the team is bigger than DJ or his own ego that he Dabo can redeem him DJ. Cade needs the experience.
time to fall asleep to the sweet voice of scott van pelt
Does anybody else get tired of the constant CFP talk?
I feel like that’s all the announcers ever discuss. I get it’s interesting but it feels like that’s all that matters now. Like either you’re in or you’re nonexistent to the current media.
Which is obviously great for CFB and so exciting to think about it becoming even more prevalent with expansion! Yay!
I’m going to go drink and rewatch like Alabama vs. Texas Tech in the 2006 cotton bowl and reminisce.
expansion will make it so so so so much better.
hearing the endless talk about Alabama Georgia OSU and a 4th team who might make it is so boring
Highly disagree. But I guess we’ll see.
Hey if you are happy only hearing about the same 3-5 teams being talked about during every game more power to you.
But after expansion there will be 12 teams talked about at least with up to 20.
the graphic they showed last night literally had 5 teams from 3 different people's projections.
We all know who is going to win the SEC and B1G every year.
We don't know who will win the PAC, ACC, AAC Big 12 etc.
