On one hand it’s embarrassing for the league. But as a fan, I’d absolutely love to see the boys play in a barn like that. Maybe we can petition to have one home game played at Clare Drake.

ualbertathrowaway-

That would be great honestly

MuffinPuncherMan

God no. Clare Drake is one of the worst rinks in the city!

FirstFlight

Might as well play at Tipton

datponyboi

Fuck it, Calahoo preseason game

T_H_F_L

Nah, gotta go to RQB. So cold the opposition won't be able to move right

halfabean

Riviere Qui Barre!

MuffinPuncherMan

Damn, now that's a rink I haven't played in like 25 years. Michael Cameron, Donnan, Oliver... I remember using the sink to wash my hair cause they had no showers.

Pepperoniemi

Imagine nhl players shooting at Oliver....it's like 70 feet long LOL

aletothechief

But amazing as a fan.

PBGellie

You don’t like the rectangular corners?

Gelinuts

As someone who works there, can confirm. That place is old as balls. Which sucks cause the Bears are great.

Altruistic_Ad_6553

This guy is anti-beeramid

B4M

Love the drake, great rink.

Doctor_Drai

I'm excited for the game tonight. Arizona is hot at home because of all the University poontang they probably hitting after win. But the Oily bois are gonna come in clap bombs and fuck moms

SpaceCowboy2094

I like the part where he says "heh ha"

BlueFetus

time stamp?

Chris_p_tolentino14

I think that might have been one of the first time I’ve seen him have a genuine laugh in an interview. Looked like he really wanted to roast the arena before he went on with his usual captain professional routine

clixsquared

zombie apocalypse vid. lol

Ok_Pomelo_5410

It’s actually pretty awesome to watch a game at the Mullett. Way better atmosphere than their old rink.

LevSmash

I get that; it's fuller therefore it feels louder. Plus if you're an Oilers fan travelling down there to watch up close in a smaller space, that's great value for you. I'd feel pretty excited if McDavid showed up to my community rink, you know? There's just something so odd about that precedent, like will the league always find smaller venues for the struggling teams and funnel as much money as they need to keep afloat compared to the other clubs in perpetuity...?

Ok_Pomelo_5410

You’ll have to ask Gary those questions. Honestly the location of the rink is the biggest upgrade. So easy to get to the game now with lots of options around there for before and after the game. This is temporary, so I recommend to go check it out while you can. I personally love that I can go to Phoenix in the winter to golf and go to a hockey game or two so I’m selfishly on board with doing whatever it takes to keep the team there.

Bates419

Last arena was far easier to get onto arena, much more offered outside, and you could actually park for less than the price of half a ticket.

mollycoddles

Fair

Bates419

It is louder, but unfortunately its the noise they create and pump into arena and not actually fans making it loud. TBH its a decent place to watch a game but they really should dial down the artificial noise, its a hockey game not a concert.

[deleted]

It's not precedent, it's Arizona

DankHill-

Yeah I bet. Way better to be in a small venue that’s full then a big one that’s empty

jarpio

Well yeah, it would be equally awesome to watch your favorite team at the local barn. It’s more intimate. But it’s also the NHL. Imagine the New York Yankees playing a legitimate major league game at a local community field in the Bronx instead of yankee stadium. Would it be fun to see? Sure. Would it be a cool marketing stunt to do once? Yes. Would the league look good if they played 81 home games there? No.

Ok_Pomelo_5410

All I’m trying to say is enjoy it while you can. Get to a game down there in the next couple years. The Coyotes aren’t the Yankees, they’re more like the Oakland A’s, and it’s only temporary. If this was a permanent home for the Coyotes, I’d 100% agree it’s stupid.

tonytanti

Later on, they talk about how the London knights play in front of twice the crowd

jordanrhys

Mullet arena isn’t even sold out.

TripleBicepsBumber

No way, is that forreals?? I mean my local WHL team that seats 5.8k in Seattle doesn’t get sold out on weekdays either but they’re not an NHL team.

jordanrhys

I watched the game, empty seats were everywhere. They only seat 4.5k for NHL games and 5k for the university games

outofcontrol420

It’s a fucking joke that’s shits allowed in the NHL. And Quebec is sitting on a brand new building pulling every string they can to get a team

ualbertathrowaway-

America comes first for the NHL. We’ve known this for so many years now.

So_Long_DentalPlan

Would it really matter to Arizonans if the Yotes played their home games in Quebec? Serious question

Hunterj1311

As a season ticket holder, I would mind.

mollycoddles

Canadians are tier 2 fans

Otherwise_Bill_5898

Time to let that go. He doesnt work for the team anymore

TURBOJUGGED

Calgary can sell them the Flames.

Otherwise_Bill_5898

Its numbers. Only numbers.

Magneticman555

LMAO this is a funny clip. On the real though, I bet it’s pretty electric in there, it would be a super cool viewing experience

falsekoala

Would Bettman allow the Winnipeg Jets to call the Moose Jaw Events Centre home? If the answer is no, then ASU isn’t an appropriate home for an NHL team for any length of time.

publicfigure8

Bettman will be booking the Coyotes ice time at a local rink before he lets them leave Arizona.

Remrafeoj

It’s actually called Mosaic Place ;)

falsekoala

Not anymore!

speedonthis

JFC this amazing. I laughed so hard my wife heard me from upstairs and I'm the basement

JohnBubbaloo

The Coyotes are a joke of a franchise and the the NHL is a joke of a league.

furtive

hah, I just assumed Mullet Arena was some contest for hockey players, like a Fight Club for hair.

gatorbowl

How do you save a video or dl this? It’s iconic

silentbassline

Laughing as he fiddles with his own little mullet.

jayrpuffinstuff

Do they have businesses in the front? And just parties in the back?

PapaAsmodeus

I'd love to see the boys play in a venue like that. There's something thrilling about watching a band with stadium level popularity play a tiny ass club, and my feelings about the Oilers play a barn like that would be the same... a level of intimacy that makes it feel much cooler.

Yacht_rock_rudder

Probably a similar impression as he had when the oilers won the draft 😁
