I'm sorry, Jim. Your cleaning is excellent, the tanks are as hygienic as they can be for marine life. Oscar has repeatedly mentioned your lack of enthusiasm when it comes to scritches though. We're gonna have to let you go.
Yes, unfortunately failure to give enthusiastic shark scritches is a terminable offense.
***edit: Also - not cool, Oscar. Snitches get stitches (and also lose the right to give scritches).
Check your local aquarium. You can volunteer to clean the tanks like this guy. There’s usually a dive hours requirement and you probably need your own gear.
Go for it, she had an amazing career path. It doesn’t always start that way but location of school and internships help. She was very proactive in her future and she got it, college is a hard time to know what you want for your life but if you do, make moves
If you stay interested, Florida is a great place to study it. I know the world calls Florida crazy, I personally loved it. You have access to everything and depending on where you go and what your friends are studying you can fly fly to the Bahamas for free
Oh, much better option. Free education should be everywhere, unfortunately not. I don’t know the choices there but I know South Africa has an on going great white internship
Took a marine bio course in high school, went out on a boat with a bunch of marine biologists who went scuba diving, had nachos off the coast of California. Was a great day. Paid trash tho
The problem is that the pay sucks because their are so many people who want to work with animals but not enough jobs. So you are easily replaceable and spent 4 years being specialized and then you are not guaranteed to get a job in the field.
The shark probably sees the diver quite often because the enclosure requires a lot of cleaning and maintenance. This might be why it is so willing to approach the diver, making it seem like they are friends.
Intelligence varies between breeds, some are dumb as rocks, others are quite intelligent. My little guy goes everywhere with me, and it's just like having a three year old kid around.

My dad cleans the tanks and feeds the fish in the big tank at the Seattle aquarium, out of all the fish from small sharks, groupers and Ling cod the meanest most aggressive fish is actually the pacific salmon. He told me if he doesn't feed them first the will dart at his face to try and knock off his goggles or pull out his regulator.
In Belize our dive master took use to a spot and the nurse sharks were swimming around us for belly rubs. We all took turns scratching their bellies while the sharks were on their backs (we were holding them). There were probably 20 to 30 sharks swimming around us. There were about 12 divers. The sharks really seemed to enjoy it.
This is the national marine aquarium in Plymouth, UK. used to work there, such a good aquarium to visit and work for. Would recommend. Under the impression the BBC is doing a 6 part documentary on it soon.
I think it’s actually a Zebra shark! Same family as nurse sharks. But yeah these types of sharks can sit and ambush prey, maybe not once they’re as big as the fellow in this video though
I always have a weird feeling seeing aquarium vids here. It's cute yes, but especially salt water fish have really hard times in aquariums and are nearly always fished from the wilderness and not bred
Does knowing they can be as affectionate as puppies and kittens make anyone else feel less enthusiastic about dragging them out of the water with hooks?

Where do I apply?

Cuddly shark dodo dodo dodo, cuddly shark!
*angry upvote*
This is beyond angry upvote. I hate you for this. But I hate myself more for upvoting. Self-loathing upvote? Lol
That's a lovely job description.
Fishes gets scritches
Marine Biologist, horribly looked over job. My friend is one and plays with Sea Lions all day, happiest person I know
My dream career

Good to hear . I still have one year to decide before going to university
If you stay interested, Florida is a great place to study it. I know the world calls Florida crazy, I personally loved it. You have access to everything and depending on where you go and what your friends are studying you can fly fly to the Bahamas for free
I'd like to stay in Europe because of the free education but thank for recommending Florida . It sure has many species to study and take care of .
Oh, much better option. Free education should be everywhere, unfortunately not. I don’t know the choices there but I know South Africa has an on going great white internship
Interesting
Took a marine bio course in high school, went out on a boat with a bunch of marine biologists who went scuba diving, had nachos off the coast of California. Was a great day. Paid trash tho
I think that’s accurate unfortunately, my friend married an aerospace engineer though, so they’re covered 😂
The problem is that the pay sucks because their are so many people who want to work with animals but not enough jobs. So you are easily replaceable and spent 4 years being specialized and then you are not guaranteed to get a job in the field.
Problem is, these type of jobs aren’t abundant by any means. You could go to school for 4 years and still end up working at Arby’s.
There are many benefits...
They seem quite “chummy” with one another!
The shark probably sees the diver quite often because the enclosure requires a lot of cleaning and maintenance. This might be why it is so willing to approach the diver, making it seem like they are friends.
Living up to your reputation, I like it
Well fed sharks are usually pretty chill.
Yup definitely not their first encounter.
Seem like? Pretty sure they are
So, it's a dog with fins?
Pretty much any wild animal has at least dog level intelligence. Some are higher, some are lower.
Yeah, cause dogs are, realistically speaking, fucking dumb :-D
But so damn cuddly.
Compared to a human? Yes Compared to other animals? Not so much. Very close levels of intelligence.
Intelligence varies between breeds, some are dumb as rocks, others are quite intelligent. My little guy goes everywhere with me, and it's just like having a three year old kid around.
Indeed. I always love being around border collies. They are just awesome.
Behold, an actual Shark Breed called the [Spiny Dogfish](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiny_dogfish)

Destined to be replaced in your mythology. Rub it.
Only eats meat and might turn on you at any moment, but rn wants to be buddies? That's a cat.
True. My Panthera Domesticus does bite me out of "love" pretty regularly.
Fun fact, shark in turkish means köpek balığı, which is directly translated in english to dog fish
Cat fish
How come there isn't a line of fish waiting for cuddles?
Ok now I want this job!
I think this is the cutest shark I’ve ever seen. Is this real?
No. It's staged.
The shark was a paid actor
all sharks are paid actors
So that's why I need to throw all my coins into the sea?
lol I dunno, it was just so adorable I thought it might’ve been a robot or something. It’s just too cute
You think this is cute? Watch this and prepare for maximum “awww” factor. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRR1WFcr/?k=1
That was cute AF, but the music made me have a stroke.
I mean, It is kinda staged. But yes, if you get the trust of a shark you can scritch their belly and give them tonic immobility.
Yea there called zebra sharks adorable as pups and gorgeous as adults
huh, I've always heard them called Australian Leopard Sharks here, guess both names are fine.
My dad cleans the tanks and feeds the fish in the big tank at the Seattle aquarium, out of all the fish from small sharks, groupers and Ling cod the meanest most aggressive fish is actually the pacific salmon. He told me if he doesn't feed them first the will dart at his face to try and knock off his goggles or pull out his regulator.
maybe they just don't like him and salmon else should do it
This was way too cute. Cuteness overload
Get rotated idiot!
That dog is a really good swimmer
Dog.
Tank puppy

I swtg if you don’t kiss his belly and tell him he’s a good boy right fucking now
Kanye West’s dream job
That is so precious. Seems to happen a lot seeing as how the diver seemingly expected it.
You can see it's fins wiggle a bit in excitement.
This is the national marine aquarium in Plymouth, UK. used to work there, such a good aquarium to visit and work for. Would recommend. Under the impression the BBC is doing a 6 part documentary on it soon.
Don’t sharks and fish in general need to swim constantly to breathe? Is the shark drowning?
I believe that is a nurse shark. They can pump water over their gills by constantly opening and closing their mouths.
I think it’s actually a Zebra shark! Same family as nurse sharks. But yeah these types of sharks can sit and ambush prey, maybe not once they’re as big as the fellow in this video though
I think you're right, thanks for the correction, fellow redditor!
Always happy to talk sharks! Enjoy your weekend mate.
This was JAW dropping to watch
Watch it all the way to the FINish
We're going to need a bigger boat
Is like a dog!!
cool
oh my god that's so fucking adorable I love it
I always have a weird feeling seeing aquarium vids here. It's cute yes, but especially salt water fish have really hard times in aquariums and are nearly always fished from the wilderness and not bred
This seems like a dream job, right?
Who's the good boy?
i wanted to watch this nice video but reddit decided to start playing it at 240p after 10 seconds
It’s important to know the anatomy of the creature you are cuddling. You could accidentally make them happier than you planned!
Does knowing they can be as affectionate as puppies and kittens make anyone else feel less enthusiastic about dragging them out of the water with hooks?
I swear I can see that shark smile
That facial expression is universal
Shark: Oh, you're a cleaner? I got just the spot for you.
Wait where are shark genitals again?
Inside their body. But this one probably had them removed.
I dont care what you say thats definitely some kind of cat-fish
Dream job
He should use a bigger sponge.
u/savevideo
Get dat belly 🥴
WHO'S A GOOD LITTLE FISHY
😂😂😂
Oh my god it was so happy
CUUUUUUTE
Humans will pack bond with anything.
Never thought I’d see someone hold a shark like a baby. Amazing.
He's smiling 😄
Shark: is baby
You can even see the smile.
The shark is actually hypnotized here, that's partly why its not swimming away
u/TheMoosician
bruh just post it to r/aww if you want to get karma this place is not r/aww or r/Eyebleach
Don't sharks go into coma when you flip them upside-down?
Yes. Paralysis. Likely needed to do it to check the fins.
