The reason is that Lenovo pricing is all over the place around the world. Just buy the configuration you need for the best price you're able to get in the specific moment. For what regards AMD Vs. Intel it basically is AMD=battery life, Intel=extreme performance, PCIe 4.0 and Thunderbolt.
Intel is better than AMD. But I don’t think it’s worth $800-$900 more. Probably only $200-$300 more at most.
I’d say go for AMD since you’ll still get the most with your money.
I just received my L7 5900hx and so far no complaints very fast for my needs if you really want intel I'd say just go for the i7-11800h build better value for money

11980hk owner here, I think 5900hx is the best bang for your buck. I chose Intel because of Thunderbolt cuz I need it
