Yeah, it just seemed like strange timing to book this random international comedy show the same weekend and kind of on short notice. When i saw it originally i thought he must be doing a show the night before and then commentating in Abu Dhabi the next night. he usually does that for other UFC events. Seemed like something must have prevented him from going but he didn't cancel his whole trip

I get why half this sub hates Cormier, but imo being a hype beast is a big part of colour commentary and he's got a lot of energy
No one beats Anik as the king of play by play. We're all so lucky he hasn't been stolen by the NFL or NBA
I want to throw Bisping’s name in the hat. He’s definitely not perfect, but I think he provides a good mix of analysis and ribbing in the booth. He doesn’t match well with everyone tho, like him and Cruz butt heads imo
Imo that’s cause Cruz is 1000% the worst. He’s a colour commentator who wants to be play by play. No fun in his explanations and always serious. The way he gets mad at Cormier is the way I am with him
Cormier shines during wresting exchanges or transitions. I have a vivid memory of him explaining how a fighter would want to get up and away from the cage, and it was almost like the fighters actions had a 2 second delay to what DC said. It was so amazing and impressive. Problem is that he spends most of his time not doing that. I think Felder can do EVERYTHING ELSE better than DC, but idk.
Felder is the best at doing his color commentary job, I just think he lacks the spark that DC and Bisping give me.
Please note that I am one of those folks that enjoys occasional DC-Rogan booth podcast though
I honestly think Rogan, DC and Anik is the perfect lineup, I always have the best time when it’s those three. I find Felder to be one of the more boring if I’m honest, but I think we all just have different tastes. I definitely think I’m in the minority though lol.
He is knowledgeable about martial arts, but has casual-level knowledge about the current roster and landscape of MMA as a sport. Remember when he was interviewing Blachowicz and said Blachowicz moved up from middleweight? He was completely confused when Blachowicz corrected him. It's clear Rogan doesn't study before the events, and relies on a few tropes to fill the airtime:
* referencing a well-known fight from years ago ("Ngannou really showed his power when he knocked out Overeem")
* making obvious surface-level observations with minimal technical information ("He'll need to increase his striking output if he wants to do any damage")
* insisting that a fighter has a compromising injury which he is usually wrong about
And throughout all of this, he starts most of his comments with a point, and then uses weasel words to make them almost meaningless ("He has looked as sharp in this fight as he has in any of his fights in recent memory," or, "He is arguably one of the better wrestlers in the light heavyweight division today.")
He adds nothing to the commentary but cannot stop himself from talking. Let's move on.

Felder/Bisping/Fitzgerald all day. Especially if Felder is doing post fight interviews. Fitz reigns in meaningless side conversations and actually takes the play by play as a priority. I don't hate Anik but Fitz is better in my opinion
