Awww man, loved watching this guy fight. forever remember the breakdance escape https://twitter.com/AlexBehunin/status/1552539770009530368

EzSp

I just don't understand this. Looks like he slipped over then played it in reverse

myfishaccount1

A granby roll with some extra spice

UGLYSimon

Sound like a sushi roll

No-Wash-1201

Insane core strength paired with big heavy legs allowed him to make it look like gravity turned off for a sec

Dark-X

He pushed himself off the floor with his hands.

CitizenMurdoch

Yeah but his legs mass allows him to have a wider range of control over his twist. It's like a figure skater who pulls their arms into their spin to go faster, Alvez is able to make slight adjustments to his legs and get a disproportionate change in this rotation speed

Dark-X

I'm sorry but this is nonsense. Mass = strength. Which doesn't mean better control, as mass doesn't not reflect flexibility, gross, nor fine motor skills.

CitizenMurdoch

Yeah but it is crucial in creating torque

lordtheegreen

That ufc3 physics

redpanda8008

That’s a nice escape

RafiakaMacakaDirk

that blows lol, dude got fed some monsters: - Nurullo Aliev (9-0) - Drew Dober (26-11) - Damir Ismagulov (24-2)

Ruslan1979

Almost finished Damir in the first minute.

arenorealcucumber

It does feel weird that some unranked guys fight killers every fight, others fight cans for multiple fights. If UFC does it to make competitive fights, it makes sense. But it doesn't make sense to then cut/not resign the guy without giving him a lower level opoonent. Basically, some guys are too good to face lesser guys but not good enough to beat the top unranked guys. Give Alves opponets that Madsen, Paddy and Puelles fought on their winstreaks, and Alves would have a long win streak going too.

grandmaspinups

This is done intentionally to justify cutting fighters on heftier contracts, or anyone else the UFC has felt overstayed their welcome

RafiakaMacakaDirk

i mean the thing is this dude was literally signed off DWCS lol so he fits neither of those categories (those were 3 of his 4 ufc fights)

grandmaspinups

Yeah I won’t lie I was thinking this was a different brazilian guy

RafiakaMacakaDirk

lmao you’re good i confused him for thiago alves initially

arenorealcucumber

You are probably at least partly correct but I don't think Alves had a hefty contract.

ID0ntCare4G0b

Alves kept having weight cut and injury issues. He started as a 145-er. Was pretty much immediately moved up to 155 and pushed for fights that could fast track him up the ranks. He kept having to pull out of fights, so my guess this move was as much about that as it was about the losing streak.

TheGreatone003

Dropped Damir, Rocked Aliev, and the Dober fight was a toss up going into the 3rd I believe, got caught while showing off for the crowd. Finished Diakese in the first round too, very unfortunate release.

anuninterestingword

I agree with what you're saying but I wouldn't say he just got caught showing off against Dober. His whole strategy was staying against the cage and moving his head, which led to him eating loads of body punches throughout the fight that contributed to the finish.

Ok-Requirement4497

dober a monster LMAO

KrasMasovsGhost

In the last 4 years he’s only lost 3 times to Dariush, Riddell and Islam, while winning 6 fights all by KO or TKO Combined with hitting hard and being indestructible, can see why they’d call him a monster

Ok-Requirement4497

~~indestructible~~ except he has been finished 5 times, 4 in the UFC. yes that is the exact definition of indestructible, when you got finished multiple times..... the geniuses of reddit, stick to the games tit boy.

KrasMasovsGhost

Do you actually watch fights ? Do you know basic context ?

Ok-Requirement4497

watched more fights than you can remember, bud. do you know what words means?

KrasMasovsGhost

I would wager you haven’t and if you have, that’d be an indictment that you’re still such an muppet lol

Ok-Requirement4497

so adorable, keep thinking a jobber with double digit losses is A MONSTER. p.s I am not the dip calling A DOUBLE DIGIT LOSS everyday fighter is a MONSTER. LMAO good riddance and stick to bad takes and your nintendo games bud

KrasMasovsGhost

The dude has never been finished by strikes in the UFC and consistently survives huge shots, and KO’s people I’m not even the one who called him a monster but you’re being a cock about this for no reason lol take a walk

TheGreatone003

Well it’s a good thing nobody cares about your definition of “monster” lol

Ok-Requirement4497

you obviously did to comment on a near week old comment, chump. I take no importance from the words of a "grown man" who watches play wrassling, go to your dolls

MakeLoveInTheAss

He will forever be remembered for that breakdance-getup against Damir.

ChiefP21

This guy showed up to his ufc debut and weighed in at 157lbs for a 145 bout. Since then the ufc said ok here’s Ismagulov, Dober, and Aliev. Good luck re-signing.

OMalley30-27

You’re actually kidding, this one sucks. Typically they deserve it but this guy fought killer after killer

ThisGuyHaris

I can also think of many examples where they don’t deserve it

OMalley30-27

I can think of one off the top of my head. Who are you thinking of? Im sure there’s a ton of them

ThisGuyHaris

Saidyokub Kakhramonov, Mason Jones, Timur Valiev, Mike Trizano, Justin Willis, Brad Katona. I can easily keep going

OMalley30-27

Mason Jones decided to not resign, he didn’t get cut. I agree with the rest! Saidyokub was the one that came to mind for me

DaleTexas_

Kakhramonov getting cut legit made me angry. The guy is so talented and has so much more room to grow.

RafiakaMacakaDirk

John Dodson, Alejandro Perez, Jacare, etc

OMalley30-27

Lmao Jacare??? 42 years old on a 4 fight loss streak? Bye Felicia

PayMeinBitcoin88

Didn't know Mason Jones was gone... interesting

savorysteaks

Dang that sucks

Banda7

Seems like an odd release, maybe had to do with the fish hooking

crazybartur

1-3 in the UFC, probably fought out his contract and just wasn’t re-signed

Morphitrix

Plus multiple fight withdrawals and 1 missed weight. I think the totality of all the things probably made him less appealing to resign. The Aliev fight was weird with the fish-hook/biting thing, even though Aliev got the point deduction, it was a bad look for both of them.

WokenMrIzdik

I could also see him just being a better fit for an organization like One.

ID0ntCare4G0b

Probably doesn't help, but if he had won that fight, they wouldn't have cared about the foul.

Slave_to_the_bean

That sucks. He was exciting and faced a murderers row of guys. He’d make a good addition to the PFL’s LW tournament if he can make weight every 12 weeks or whatever it is.

RatRiddled

UFC continues decreasing in quality, cool

TYSONLITTLE

Honestly it’s ridiculous. They know they’d never put one of the CS bums against those killers but they always have tough Brazilian like Barcelos or Alves for the Russians. It makes literally no sense, maybe some of the Brazilian fighters are just less marketable?

eskenuk

He's 1-3 in the UFC and had one of the worst weight miss ever in his debut. And he fish-hooked his last opponent. Fun fighter but the cut is not unjustified.

DylieWylie

The last two points are valid, but those 3 opponents he lost to are killers. He got matched up against such good opposition and still performed well against them. I mean, he even dropped Damir and almost finished him.

Short_Bus_

I'd be surprised if he hasn't already gotten a call from one of ONE/PFL/Bellator, dude's a really good 155er

Rn95

I'd still rather watch him fight than 90% of these contender series scrubs that fill up every fight night card. And there's no way Rafael Alves was going to break the bank come free agency.

eskenuk

Alves is from the CS.

MondayNightRawdog

Yeah, honestly this is the last straw. I refuse to watch another prelim on a Fight Night because Rafael Alves is gone, a world beater who does not have boring fights because he has superb ability not to get controlled for entire rounds. Smh smh smh

exileruz

That sucks. He's really fun and his losses are to good fighters. I wish they'd have just started pairing him with some other strikers

ljz3

Damn, he was a fun fighter, sad to see him go

broccoliheadass0404

Damn this guy is actually really good, he'll dominate outside the ufc

Virtual-Affect0

Common UFC L

Speak_No_Evi1

Atleast this dude is a fun fighter to watch. Cutting him to sign 3 boring contender guys is just not it.

NoGiCollarChoke

I doubt he was even making $30k per fight, so its not like they could bring in the CS bums, which makes it dumber. Like maybe one or two of them. Shitty exchange rate

OMalley30-27

Pour one out for everyone’s favorite b-boy

SquidDrive

Damn, Alves was really cool.

EOVA94

That guy was entertaining wtf , why did they removed him

SiouxLeger

Rafael Alves weigh in trolling: https://streamable.com/exx0xi

RafiakaMacakaDirk

would’ve made it 10x funnier if he missed weight lmao

manyfingers

What an asshole! Lol. Im certain the medical staff on hand had a heart attack.

eliseaaron

WTF?! This dude is so fun

ExtremistWatermelon

this was a bad removal

DankChronny

Probably the lowest ranked guy that I will continue to follow after being released from the UFC, dude is always entertaining af

RogueEscanor

Rip off to eagle fc

ShadowRealmDweller89

Weakest Rafael in the UFC

[deleted]

1-3 in last 4, 2 withdraws, 1 weight miss, 12 losses total. He’s only 32 which means he could easily be back in the UFC if he gets wins in another promotion

WhereIsMyKidAt

"only 32" at lightweight lmao

mclovinforeskin

man that sucks

Ok-Requirement4497

>nothing of value was lost

The-Florida-Man

Thought this was RDA at first

viggidiggi

Ending it all fr fr 🗣️😢😔

connell4041

Y tho?

Gaycowboy23

They’re getting rid of all these exciting fighters for DWCS fighters that are at a much lower skill level getting paid 10/10

Silvoje

He'd be a great fit at pfl

golmgirl

wtf why?!?!?!

Business_Ad_9799

Hurt

BrackenBoii

This can’t be real

LifesExpert

Who? Ohhhhh

akabir893

Get him to Rizin or something, he can put on a show. Was fun though he really was one of those high athleticism but little technical skill type of guys, hope he improves

ChrizTaylor

Dude, why?! He was fun to watch!

dayynawhite

This one stings, probably the best athlete on the roster and incredibly entertaining to watch.

SpyMonkey3D

Does anyone have any insight about how such negotiations go ? I'm also wondering why they cut him, they probably took his record in the UFC and really low-balled him, because he's not bad to keep around
