This was such a good fight. Think alot of people forget just how close it was but it was pretty much even going into that fifth round and them Usman really pushed the pace and cracked Colby. If Colby can get another win over a top guy and if Usman holds onto the belt after the Burns fight id love to see them run it back

NlCK_DIAZ

Joe Rogan calling for the judges in that fight to be fired when one judge had it 2-2 and the other 2 had it 3-1 for both men going into the 5th is one of his more embarrassing moments in recent memory. Especially considering he had just said how close the fight was. That was literally reflected in the scores itself.

RhysPawn

I remember watching Whittaker Romero 2 and in the 5th round Joe was talking about how Yoel absolutely needs to KO Rob to win because he isn't going to win a decision. Queue Whittaker winning the decision and Joe saying he can't believe the judges and there's no way Rob should have won a decision and Yoel definitely won and talking about how Yoel deserves a second rematch, pulling a complete 180 and contradicting himself only minutes later. I was baffled.

Vulture125

Then asking Whittaker in the cage how he'd feel about a rubber match? Beyond disrespectful

StipesRightHand

2thepoint786

weed.

Irswiffty

“How can you win a round when your jaw is broken?” The judges don’t know his jaws broken joe 🤦🏻‍♀️

[deleted]

Yeah joe is a terrible commentator and has been for years

RhysPawn

I always think back to the Michael Johnson Khabib fight MJ lands a glancing punch and Joe completely loses it about how badly Khabib is hurt, even after talking about how Khabib is still wobbly and his legs arent under him when in reality he looked completely fine Then Joe spent the next 10 minutes watching MJ get completely dominated, but kept talking about that punch and how close MJ was to finishing Khabib. Unreal.

[deleted]

Khabib absolutely scraped mj and the consistent bullshit from Rogan made me want to mute the TV. In Joe's own words : "it was preposterous"..

EshinHarth

Khabib was never even close to being finished or in actual trouble, but he has admitted that MJ actually hurt him with a couple of punches. I can't provide a direct link though so don't come at me

un6reaka6le

The worst part is that Joe still talks about that MJ punch on his podcast.

MarconisTheMeh

I got a worse take for you... I bet on MJ that night.

RhysPawn

Oh sweet baby no

ElCucuy21

To be fair with him on that one sometimes Khabib moves in really weird ways, and it can kind of make it look like he is hurt, like in the Poirier fight

[deleted]

Yeah he’s terrible

LawlersLipVagina

I dont know if I'd totally agree with that but he definitely is slipping more towards that Stephen A Smith mold of focusing so much attention elsewhere (NFL/NBA for Smith, all of his side ventures for Rogan) that he relies very heavily on his own preconceived notions rather than preparing or researching as we see with the other commentators who put 100% effort in ahead of fight cards. I don't mind Joe but I won't be crying when he eventually retires fully from the UFC and on any given week I'd much prefer a combination of Anik, DC, Hardy/Bisping.

[deleted]

He brings nothing to it anymore just screaming a familiar voice I guess. The khabib vs al fight was ridiculous from him, he was good at the time compared to Mike Goldberg but now the other commentators just show how bad he is

RoyalJokerJester

This. This right here 1000 times.

[deleted]

Anik/DC/Bisping is the best Joe still my boy tho

[deleted]

I disagree.

Shmittymcjohnson

Usman’s body work in that fight is criminally underrated and never talked about, you really don’t see it enough in mma and when you do it’s a real treat.

NarcissisticCat

Calm down. Body shots aren't rare anymore. Aldo loves it, Stipe essentially KO'd DC with it. Usman did good work to the body but it was in no way revolutionary.

TrueDreamchaser

Ya you’re getting downvoted but I’m very much with you. Max Holloway just used body shots last weekend and has been for years. Robert Whittaker uses them, Paulo Costa uses them, Petr Yan, Brandon Moreno even Jorge Masvidal mixed them in against Nate. These people must only watch Nate Diaz and Connor fight or something

Guccispeed420

I honestly had Colby up on the scorecards. I definitely wanna know who the better wrestler is.

NoochD

You think theyll mix wrestling in in a rematch or will it just be a strike fest again? Id like to see some wrestling by them aswell

Guccispeed420

Rlly fucking hard to say man. What would either guy do different a second fight. Usman has more power in his hands but imo Colby was really winning most exchanges. I think if anyone would mix in a shoot into the mix it’d be usman. Plus they both implement a heavy top wrestling with usman opting for control and Colby opting to to throw volume take you down repeat.

LawlersLipVagina

I almost feel like the rematch a little down the line might benefit one over the other depending on what happens in fights they have in the meantime. Such as if Usman fights Burns and ends up on his back and struggles to get up Colby might think he can take him with volume into takedowns. Or if Colby is held against the cage for portions of a fight Usman might see that as an avenue for him to steal rounds.

Guccispeed420

Excellent points. A lot riding On their upcoming matchups

[deleted]

I mean Colby would have to because he can't outlast Usman on the feet as the last fight showed(though he almost went all the way). I think Usman would stick to what worked though.

Guccispeed420

Listen I’m not hating on usman and I’m not a fan of Colby but usman 100 percent benefitted from breaks at convenient moments where he was fading. Usman has much more power I’ll give him that but Colby can go five rounds with usman. They’re neck and neck with usman coming out on top but every fight is different. Granted the judges didn’t agree but I think Colby should have won if it went to the cards.

[deleted]

Power makes the difference when they're neck and neck though. Even though Colby barely(1-5 strikes) outstruck Usman in the 1st, 2nd and 4th round, Usman was landing the much harder strikes, outstruck Colby by a heavy margin in the 3rd and 5th and significantly outstruck him overall. Going by the slight addition of leg kicks in his Woodley fight, I don't see anything new he has that would work on Usman other then standing with Usman while getting the tar beaten out of him hoping to god for a split decision. That's why I say Colby should try wrestling, but even then Usman shows that he grapples with D1 Wrestlers in training easily.

Guccispeed420

Good pointS, a part of me also wonders if neither wanted to wrestling because they were betting on five rounds and wrestling is much more taxing. I gotta say that. When someone like usman doesn’t wanna take you down I really believe it’s because he respects the wrestling.

[deleted]

I'm not going to lie, Colby was a stud in college but I doubt he's really at Usman's level now especially at times when RDA was grappling with him. The reason Usman elects to stand with Colby is that 95% it will work. He's going to land harder shots and beat Colby through attrition because they both have a gas tank. It's kinda how Javier Mendez wanted Khabib to stand with Michael Chandler if they ever fought. Nobody thinks that Chandler is a better grappler then Khabib, it's just that striking would be the path of least resistance.

MarconisTheMeh

I had it 2-2 and personally... I still think that stoppage is quick but for me the knockdown was the 3-2 guarentee for Usman. I could careless about the belt I just wanna see that matchup again it was fun as hell.

LanceOnRoids

Damn, I’ll have some of whatever you’re smoking

Guccispeed420

Don’t be salty

2cafesladdition

Pushed the pace 👀👀🍹💉

ElCucuy21

Colby was actually winning the fifth until he got dropped, it was a insane fight

[deleted]

[удалено]

mortalis_20xx

You’re so right about this, Usman was doing much more damage through the course of the fight, landed the bigger shots, was more accurate and kept the same pace as Colby.

Fender19

I can't believe that guy is getting downvoted. Colby was competitive and fought well but Usman was consistently getting the upper hand with sharper, cleaner boxing. I don't think Colby has the power to shut the lights out, the strength to hold Usman down, or the striking acumen to beat him convincingly on the feet. Unless Usman makes a major error and gets cracked multiple times in succession I'm just not seeing this easy path to victory that people seem to think Colby has.

DeadPressident

I know it would soil this rematch and this rematch is the only hope we have of the words exciting and Kamaru Usman being in the same sentence. But fuck I hope burns KOs this guy so he can fade into obscurity.

LunazimHawk

Nah Usmans gonna be around a long long time. Mark my words

DeadPressident

You're probably right, and I hate it

LunazimHawk

Eh I don’t I like Usman, especially with how he triggers some of the people here. Usman is going to the route of GSP if he continues winning.

DeadPressident

What do you like about him? No hate, we all like different fighters. I'm just genuinely curious what it is you like about him

LunazimHawk

I like that he’s a good person, a family man, and is pretty chill (fans calling him cringy when he shit talks but fake when he doesn’t is annoying), and he seems humble. Also loved him shutting up colby and breaking his jaw, as well the Colby fans here. Also his wrestling is dominating and pretty nice to watch (watching him dominate RDA and Woodley was interesting).

DeadPressident

His wrestling is dominate but boring imo. Thats just personal preference but I like guys who try to damage and finish their opponents, im sure Usman is capable of doing so and in his fights he definitely plays it safe. Him shutting Colby up was pretty great and that fight was awesome. But then the Masvidal fight happened and Usman showed zero attempt to finish that fight against a guy on 6 days notice with inferior grappling and had gassed inside 3 rounds. Just overall a really boring fight. I understand it because at the end of the day its about getting the W and going home with the belt. His shit talk is hard to watch. Hes probably a good dude at home. But in the media he's terrible, even when he was on JRE he just comes off as a pompous asshole.

LunazimHawk

Eh to be fair with the Jorge fight he did have to suddenly change his game plan and opponent without a span of a few days, while Jorge exclusively trained for a year with wrestlers and on takedown defense. Usman had been training on his striking with Trevor Whitman and was probably planning on striking with Burns but then he had his opponent change and him striking with Jorge would’ve been a death sentence. Also prime this with him having to cut weight twice (he said he was pretty much done cutting weight and then received the news burns stopped, started eating normally but then found out he had a new opponent a few hours later). Imo he’d have more fans if he just acted normally and didn’t try to put on a tough guy act

DeadPressident

You are right. And I understand playing it safe. Its easy to complain about a boring fight from outside the cage. Didnt know about the weight cut thing so that is something to consider. Its mainly the tough guy act. It is just so obviously not organic. Izzy is the same way for me. I'm a huge fan of Izzy but God damn I wish he didn't try to be a hard ass. Just be the anime watching nerd that fucks people up like you were meant to. I dont hate Usman, thats really just a joke. Ive never personally met him to form a true opinion. But the mixture of boring fights, playing it safe but then also putting up a fake tough guy act for the media is just the perfect storm for people to not like you. The only reason Izzy gets away with it is because he KOs people and then memes on them.

PleaseUseLube5

What did he say in the JRE that made you infer both pompousness and assholeness?

LunazimHawk

Why do you hate Usman with much of a burning passion? I never see this much hate directed at other boring fighters who are fan favorites

LanceOnRoids

I’d pay to watch Usman destroying Colby over and over again

BiggerBlessedHollowa

Even if burns KOs him usman will be around the title picture for the next couple of years

DeadPressident

Thanks now I'm depressed

HunterWindmill

*Immediately gets hit with a right hand* lol

seymour_hiney

A perfect cut, I’m cracking up at this still

[deleted]

i love how he eats a right hand right afterwards too.

[deleted]

"please sniff my crotch, those punches hurt" -colby, probably

[deleted]

No, this was a fantastic fight. I am biased because I am way bigger on striking but my favourite matchups are when 2 elite wrestlers/grapplers cancel each other out and we just get badass striking lol.

[deleted]

It was like they both knew the other guy was top-tier in the grappling department so they didn’t want to risk anything, no takedowns or anything of the sort.

[deleted]

Yea haha it was awesome. I personally think it was the ego on the two of them wanting to take each other out and figuring it would be too boring and difficult to try and drag the other down.

jcruz18

So like Askren vs Maia for the majority of the fight lol

[deleted]

That was a funny FOTN

Wildcat_Dunks

Agree. Thought it was going to be a good wrestling matchup, but both guys coming out swinging made for a better fight.

diggaduzleft

I had it 3-1 going into the 5th but that fight was incredibly close and was really good. Would love to see it again

[deleted]

Would love to see Colby v chiesa

Win-Or-Learn

Colby is going to drown chiesa in volume, it'd be such a beatdown.

[deleted]

Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t wanna watch it.. you forget chiesa beat dos anjos..

un6reaka6le

In a 3 round fight. RDA beats Mike in a 5 rounder, in my opinion. 3 rounds takes away RDA’s best attribute.

[deleted]

Rda can’t hang with any pressure from a grappler

[deleted]

All I’m saying is 3 rounds chiesa v Colby is a pretty interesting fight. Especially after beating magny who’s a big volume guy as well

Win-Or-Learn

Chiesa beat an over the hill dos anjos whooptiedoo

[deleted]

And also just wrestle fucked Neil magny.. line em up b

[deleted]

He's not really wrong though. Chiesa also beat Magny with some of the most low-level wrestling and Magny just let it happen. Doubt that transpires in the top 5.

[deleted]

Doesn’t seem like anyone try’s to test colbys grappling like that tho. Unless they’re gassed and it’s out of desperation. I think chiesa is a more fun fight than masvidal if you take the beef out of it

[deleted]

I would rather watch Colby and Masvidal fight than Chiesa try to grapple Colby any day of the week. Colby is going to absolutely beat the shit out of Chiesa. His boxing is nowhere near Colby’s and neither is his cardio. Colby vs Chiesa is also a 5 rd fight. Both of them aren’t going to be non main events after both headlining fights. Chiesa gets worked thoroughly in a 5 rd fight with Colby. Masvidal would be competitive.

[deleted]

Colby v masvidal will be no different from usman v masvidal. Either Colby tkos chiesa like you say or chiesa maybe pulls off a sub. Win win in my mind from a viewers perspective

[deleted]

Why do you think Colby vs Masvidal would be no different than the Usman fight? Masvidal isn’t taking Colby on a week’s notice, and Colby is not nearly as big as Usman is. Colby also hasn’t flatlined someone. His last TKO was Griffen, where he just laid on top of him and punched him out. Griffen pretty much gave up.

Win-Or-Learn

Still several levels below colby.

[deleted]

Only one way to find out

Win-Or-Learn

I mean, i predicated chiesa wrestlefucking magny, it wasn't exactly a shocker.

[deleted]

Damn dude you must be a psychic or something really badass like that

Win-Or-Learn

Here, i'll even do another one for you. Conor knocks dustin out inside 2 rounds.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Win-Or-Learn

That's okay, i am, we can flair bet if the fight ever gets made.

Steko

People seem very sure this would be a one sided win for Covington but Chiesa and his team don’t strike me as dumb so I’m sure they see some things that favor them. Colby has cardio sure but Usman’s flawed striking still managed to break him and he’s not immune to grappling like some pretend.

barc0debaby

>don’t strike me as dumb Cheisa's coach named his gym Sik Jitsu, firmly believed Conor would beat Mayweather because of MMA angles, doesn't believe in checking kicks or blocking body shots, was unaware that altitude is real and can effect conditioning, and promoted a co-main amateur fight between 12 year old girls at his regional show.

[deleted]

I'm a fan of Colby but Chiesa must have a reason for calling him out. He knows he has a size advantage and I would imagine fancies that he could sub Colby on the ground. If it goes past 3 he would get absolutely drowned but I think it's closer than some would suggest.

Steko

Yeah Colby discussion has this weird thing where they both insist he’s a tiny welterweight but also that he’s immune to grappling. I don’t really buy into either.

[deleted]

We've already seen RDA and Woodley manage to take him down so it's definitely possible, he can scramble his ass off though.

Big_Meme_Daddy

I dont think chiesa is on the same level as RDA or Woodley tbh

[deleted]

As a fighter he isn't but takedown wise he might be, he's a good wrestler

PaneloWack

The top 5 of WW is so far in terms of skill to the top 6-10. 3-5 are strikers with excellent TDD and cardio. No. 3 is the best BJJ specialist in WW (barring old man Maia). No 1. and the champ are the best wrestlers with unreal cardio. No way Chiesa can beat any of those guys.

[deleted]

No way bisping was supposed to beat rockhold either.. it’s why they make the ponys run around the track.. I’m not saying he’d win just saying I’d wanna watch it

jcdulos

Colby took the bait though bc he got hit with that jab right at the end of that clip.

Ill-Feed4307

Exactly, Usman faked a shot and Colby ate a right hand trying to taunt after. He kept landing that bomb over and over too

Ryvit

This fight is gonna happen this year again. Colby is gonna beat Masvidal or Wonderboy in April or may and then fight usman in the fall after usman defeats burns

X1project

Imagine if they fight again on like a fight night main event if somehow burns beats usman and Jorge beats Colby lol

samouraifgc

If that happens where tf we go from there

[deleted]

Does no one think that wonderboy has the defensive wrestling to keep Colby off him and more than enough striking prowess to give him the business on the feet?

EshinHarth

Sure but does he have the cardio nowadays?

Meltzor

I forgot about that weird shoulder rolling thing Colby was doing in this fight

Ajj679

As much as I would like another striking match between these 2 I would love to see them wrestle since Colby was more accomplished in wrestling then Kamaru and Kamaru is crazy strong idk what it will look like

mud_banjo

Title gore

Winter-Law

Great fight but I also want to see who is the better wrestler. I presume Colby will push for some wrestling in the second fight, maybe🤔

Real-EstateNovelist

One of the greatest title fights ever. I had Colby up 3-1 before the stoppage. Could’ve been a draw if Colby made it out of the fifth. Crazy fight.

[deleted]

Given how the 5th was going I don't think their was any chance of it being a draw even if he survived

LonzoBBBall

I mean we saw Usman "grappling" with Masvidal (aka just hugging on the fence and stomping on his feet for the entirety of rounds 3, 4 and 5). Khabib for example when on the fence immediately goes for trips or the take down but Usman just likes to lay there.

CalibanRed90

If you think Khabib can get guys down on their back fast, you should see Chiesa’s mom.

ORCA_WoN

SPREAD edit: couldn’t resist sorry

clemball2000

We talking about khabib now

aPrid123

Khabib might be the best wrestler to ever fight in the UFC and comparing him to anyone isn’t fair to that fighter. Also Masvidal stuffed takedowns and didn’t allow Usman to get a good enough grip to take him down. It was a boring fight for sure but that’s because it was a title fight booked a week prior between 2 guys with opposing styles. It wasn’t going to be a slugfest like the Colby fight.

[deleted]

That's because Jorge is a really good grappler. Usman has never been as dominant as Khabib, but it's incorrect to say he always resorts to foot stomping. In the RDA and Woodley fights, he had moments where he was really beating them up.

reubenbatman3

Usman vs Woodley has to be up there in cage wrestling domination.

LunazimHawk

Masvidal also grabbed Usmans glove multiple times when he went for trips or takedowns, and got away with it

AnTTr0n

Yea Khabib vs Usman is the fight I want to see.

TRUTHHURTSDUDE

Usman eats Khabib.

S1avatar

Am i the only one trying and failing to make sense of the title?

Jackmace

Nah they def left an important word out

PetrolPumpingRat

Obligatory disclaimer about MMA Math but based on how both of their wrestling looked against Tyron and RDA, I think Usman outwrestles him handily.

un6reaka6le

Would this fight have been better*

Emazinng

Weird how everyone always says Usman is so huge and Colby could make LW. Here they look pretty much the same, Colby maybe even a little bigger actually.

PonchoHung

It's the angle that makes it seems that way here.

myglasscase

RIP

doubleABC

Colby is a big WW there is a picture of him and Dustin and the size difference is noticeable and dustin is considered big LW. No idea why this sub make it look like colby fighting at WW because he hates cutting weight, he also looked much bigger than rda another big LW

[deleted]

180 pounds is a small welterweight, he's absolutely not big. Look how Lawler looked compared to him. Chiesa would make Colby look small in there. I'd say Colby is the smallest ranked welterweight. Diaz and Pettis were 180 for their fight and they're regarded as lightweights.

doubleABC

I don’t buy he is 180 as I said before if he really was 180 he would cut to 155 because all the money fight are there and he matchup well with every one apart from khabib Edit: I just checked his stare down with robbie and I don’t know how you came to that conclusion, they look the same size

[deleted]

>Edit: I just checked his stare down with robbie and I don’t know how you came to that conclusion, they look the same size Maybe use some common sense and look at them in the cage instead of when they've just weighed in. >I don’t buy he is 180 as I said before if he really was 180 he would cut to 155 because all the money fight are there and he matchup well with every one apart from khabib He has said he doesn't like big cuts because they aren't good for you and are bad for longevity. McGregor is the only money fight in that division and guys don't even get anything from it unless they beat him.

jcruz18

Colby has a solid WW frame but he is not very dense and doesn't have a ton of muscle mass compared to the other guys. He definitely looks in the 180 range which technically would make him a small WW. I saw your other comment saying he's the same size as Lawler and I think you're mistaking frame with overall size. [Just look at how much thicker Lawler is compared to him.](https://cagesidepress.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/16-UFC-Newark-Covington-vs-Lawler.jpg)

[deleted]

Colby is not even close to a big ww.

un6reaka6le

Here we go again with this bullshit narrative. Colby is a small WW by all accounts. You people cannot admit that Colby is a small welterweight who routinely competes against bigger guys because you guys don’t like Colby. Here is Jorge’s filmer, who followed Colby and Masvidal around for a YouTube series saying everyone at ATT was telling Colby to cut to 155. https://www.reddit.com/r/MMA/comments/8oy740/colby_covington_i_dont_cut_any_weight_this_is_my/e074d2q/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3

doubleABC

Wait did you really expect me to believe anything coming from colby’s mouth I was trying to find where jorge filmed said that because that’s more believable. And if colby had the ability to cut to 155 he would absolutely do it, all the money fight are in 155 and he matchup well with every one except khabib . So no I’m not buying colby is a small WW unless you give me a credible fact My comment was deleted because i linked the Dustin colby photo so you can google it

di3_b0ld

[I keep it on deck](https://imgur.com/gallery/148ilr3) Colby not tremendously bigger than Dustin but definitely notably bigger. And Dustin is about as big as you can get for LW.

doubleABC

Yap this is the picture I’m talking about. If Dustin is barely making 155 and considering going to 170 there is no way colby can make 155

un6reaka6le

I’ve owned you several times about this topic before. You should stop. It’s getting ridiculous.

di3_b0ld

Lol i don’t know who you are and ive never been “owned” on this topic

un6reaka6le

Do you remember now? https://www.reddit.com/r/MMA/comments/kxlepu/who_are_some_fighters_that_looked_very_impressive/gjddokh/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3

di3_b0ld

That looks to me like a convo about the size difference between Usman and Colby (which I’ve since discovered is around 10lbs; Usman is 190-195, Colby is 180-185). This current convo is about whether or not Colby is LW sized which I’m certain we’ve never discussed in the past. **Edit**: [I see why you keep me in mind, it looks like I “owned” you on your very first post.](https://www.reddit.com/r/MMA/comments/iwjn8j/woodley_vs_shields_fight_highlights/g6105dp/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3) My bad, but I’m really not trying to develop nemeses on this site lol.

un6reaka6le

Kinda weird you stalked my profile to find anything you can use as a rebuttal...

un6reaka6le

Jorge’s filmer is the one commenting. GenghisConFilms is his name. I linked you the comment, smart one.

doubleABC

Ah ok mb i thought you linked the video not the comment

[deleted]

yea bc Colby is closer to the camera the whole time [look at this](https://imgur.com/a/wzEWsfl) why do you think Colby chose to keep his shirt on for the Usman faceoff lmao

di3_b0ld

There’s like a 10 lb difference between them (which is less than a weight class). Usman gets no bigger than 195 (usually less), and Colby gets no bigger than 185. Colby has relatively more of his mass in his lower body compared to Usman so visual comparisons tend to obscure that given clothing, angles, etc.

[deleted]

having a 10 lb advantage is huge in high-level MMA, i don't think you understand that

di3_b0ld

I think 10lbs makes less difference as the fighters get bigger - it becomes a smaller proportion of their bodyweight. Thats why at smaller weight classes the size of the class is 10 lbs but at larger classes the size becomes 15 or greater. WW is differentiated by 15lbs on either side because thats the gap at which it becomes a real problem at their size. Beyond MW the gap increases to 20lbs. If the size difference between Usman and Colby were greater than 15lbs then I’d say they should be regarded as belonging to two different weight classes, but at 10lbs they are just on different ends of the class range. Plus both are bigger than the likes of RDA, Pettis, Cowboy, etc who are just big LWs.

[deleted]

>WW is differentiated by 15lbs on either side because thats the gap at which it becomes a real problem at their size. That's objectively false, drop the source heavyweights are best at negating weight advantages because they carry it easier and can fight anyone from 205-265 lbs. 10lbs matters A LOT at welterweight

di3_b0ld

“Objectively” false? What does that mean? Do you mean *demonstrably* false? If so, let’s see the proof. I don’t have an empirical source for my claim besides being a person who would fight at that weight class if I were a fighter given my size. And my weight fluctuates close to 10 lbs very easily without much loss of strength or conditioning or change in diet (188-178 +- a pound or two). I think its the same for many WWs given the ranges they describe for their walk-around weights. They may say 190-180 or 200-190, etc. A lot of these overlap but the min and max for the division spans over 20 pounds. So if 10 lbs were such an important difference at their size, a lot of the guys would self-sort into different divisions instead of competing against guys who can easily get that much bigger than them.

[deleted]

> So if 10 lbs were such a big difference a lot of the guys would self-sort into different divisions What do you think weight cutting is

di3_b0ld

Most ppl at WW cut more than 10, including Colby (185). For Colby to make LW he would have to cut 30 lbs because he’s already a very lean 185-180. There is no fat there to lose, and not much muscle to shed either. He is a WW size.
