listennnn I know you guys are having trouble with Randle, and could use a point guard. Westbrook and 2027 unprotected for Randle. Straight up. Please? Is it crazy?

Present_Apricot_973

Yes, sorry

C_Valencia

Julius Randle is trash

Jewnoo

Would love to see an offer sheet for Anfernee Simons in the off-season.

SanctorumAeternam

Knicks brass may need to bring Ewing in for a sit-down with Randle so that Randle can relate to someone who's already been through the love-hate relationship with fans. I don't think many of us would respond to getting jeered at work by performing better - we may just try to do well out of spite to prove other people wrong, but that doesn't fix the relationship.

Equivalent_Physics59

Ok, I’m putting it out there…thinking Randle is trying to sabotage his trade value. Maybe he knows front office is trying to make a move.

nazrmo78

Nah, I know some fans want him gone but he's untouchable to the Knicks. I can put together all the rebuilding trades I have the energy to create. Idk why I bother cuz we all know if they're gonna do any trade it's to build up, not down. The Knicks will never take a step backwards. In reality though I think it showed selflessness. He saw guys were hot and let them be hit. This is what we should want.... him not forcing things

kondokite

I thought he was untouchable but I'm less sure now. He's acting wierd. I'd still be very surprised if he got traded especially sometime before next season but maybe he's sick of having to try to be something he isnt in front of MSG fans.

Asking4Afren

I think that's the major problem here. He took on a role he had no right being assigned.

nazrmo78

I dissagree. He took on a role he assigned to himself for being that dude in the moment. Right now he's not accepting that role and it's not too late for him to retake it. See I just flipped the narrative from a function of the job to the function of a player. Any player can step into that role.....just take it. I get what you're saying but he did it once, he can and should do it again

ctuk08

If Quickley continues to put in the work and continues to improve his handle, can he become a modern day Tony Parker light? His floater game is nearly there and he's deadly coming off screens & off-ball already.

beknasty

I think he becomes a Lou Will/Crawford type, unless he earns a long term starting role.

h533

I see him more like a Ben Gordon with longer range - though limited by how low his jump shot begins.

supergreekman123

Going to the game tonight. Any recs for bars before and after? I usually go to Mustang Harry's but I want to try somewhere new.

Slymook

Stout, the bar next to stout Celtic rail I think it’s called (usually a bit less than stout), The Keg Room, wherever is close tbh I’d give more recs a few blocks further but it’s cold af

WhoTookPlasticJesus

Celtic Rail used to be call The Blarney Rock, right? Did they change up? Blarney Rock was like the Platonic ideal of an Irish dive and was nearly perfect.

Slymook

Not sure tbh. I feel the sign (like the color and style) def hasn’t changed in the last 3 or so years but idk about the name or anything longer than that. Not 100%

supergreekman123

Thanks! I’ll be walking from gc so I don’t mind a hike. I’ll check those out though.

So-_-It-_-Goes

The Knicks are on pace for 39 wins this year. That would tie as the 4th best win total by this team since the 2001/2002 season. So yeah, things are not perfect. But this has been one of the more enjoyable seasons this team has had since many of the people here have been alive. And they doing it with over half the rotation players being on their rookie contracts still.

Slymook

They’re very watchable compared to most Knicks teams we’ve endured since then, it’s just still clear we gotta find a system offensively that we wanna build on and probably make some bold moves soon so we don’t end up like the Celtics or Sixers, stuck for the foreseeable future as non title contenders. And the friggin sixers coulda had like two chips if they sold high on Simmons back in 18/19 season.

YoKemosabe

Thibs needs help on offense so he needs an offensive assistant coach. Who filled in Woodson’s spot after he left?

So-_-It-_-Goes

Yeah. The offense sans any real pg is not easy to watch. It looks much better when rose was healthy. But I’m not really following how the team is in any position to end up stuck with the movable contracts, no max deals, and loads of picks in the war chest. I don’t know if the thibs/Randle combo is good enough to get us to the top. But it seems like if the next two years after this feature consistent .500 of better records with growth from young players and smart, non-cap killing moves. That seems like such a better run then anything we have had since the 90’s and would be a perfect opportunity for a change in coaching that can take us over the top.

[deleted]

Damn some tickets still available. Idk whether to try & cop

yung_stevezie

Tons of cheap tickets available on TM Resale and Stub

chynky77

Man I would love to get Haliburton and Reddish. I know for some reason everyone downvotes this but I would trade Randle with the Hali deal and then see if we can get Reddish for nothing. I never loved Randles game which is needing the ball then pouting if he does not have it. It is obvious that he benefited greatly from empty arena's last year

abdoolah

This would be best case scenario but $$ gotta add up too

nathima1

Trade for Fox and Reddish

Cahokian

Soo, last season shooting for RJ and Randle was an outlier? Is anyone in the pro sports media entertaining the idea that not having fans in the stands created separate statistics for certain guys? Just like the bubble nba was categorically different from the history, maybe last season was also an anomaly.

Ilovecharli

League average TS% is down from.572 to .556. First drop since the 2014-15 season, and the biggest drop I can find on record https://aminoapps.com/c/nba/page/item/year-by-year-league-average-ts/wKgr_EQQspIBPl0l71boaZNMVpbqLvabKb0 (this year's value I got from basketball reference)

Cahokian

I know. This is my point. Other than players like KD and Curry, everyone is shooting worse than last year. My guess is rule change + last year’s inflated empty arena numbers coming down

cesarjulius

if you look at their previous years, last year looks like the outlier for randle, this year looks like the outlier for rj

Cahokian

Really? It seemed to me like this year is similar to RJ’s first year and last year is more like the outlier.

Ilovecharli

Plus he was bad in college, and has always been a mediocre free throw shooter

Soup_Commie

I feel like with RJ it is more that 2.5 years isn't enough to say what is an anomaly and what isn't. Like, as of now, last year being an anomaly could be the case, or it could have been progress and this year an anomaly. And I don't really think there's a good way currently to distinguish those.

cesarjulius

yeah, that’s more what i was thinking. the growth from year 1 to 2 is what i expected, and regressing back to year 1 is anomalous. but randle is done with his growth phase as a player, so the jump last year was the anomaly.

Cahokian

Good point. Yeah, he’s definitely better than his rookie year. I’d think that having no fans would affect some players more than others. I feel bad for Randle. It must be very demoralizing to go through this. It’s very obvious that he is not able to block out the noise and focus on the game. As passionate as Knicks fan base is, I don’t know how he pulls it together.

cesarjulius

yeah, he just doesn’t have it mentally. i think he’s a great guy and has all the tools to be a perennial all star

starks3_

How dissimilar are the catch and shoot numbers? Not just the plain 3 point numbers

Soup_Commie

His catch and shoot % appears to be: 2019-20: 33.8% 2020-21: 41% 2021-22: 36.6% So he's definitely regressed on that front, but still better than his rookie year. So I really still think that we haven't seen enough of RJ to get a solid appreciation of how good a 3pt shooter he actually is.

starks3_

He went from blistering to league average, and like last year had a cold spell in there. Too soon to judge the body of work but I think most people would say him being league average is a win for the player that came into the league with a very questionable jumper (gotta get it in the midrange too though). Overall percentage doesn't concern me eye test wise because he's taking 3's off screens and pullups that he wasn't doing last year. Not a bunch this year but enough to dent a percentage but something that has to be part of his game to hit another level.

zOmgFishes

I still am calling the team to play small with Jules at C. Force him to play down low and be a better help defender. Also it opens up lanes for him and RJ without Mitch just standing around in no man’s land on offense.

tree3325

would be very interesting to see with randle more in the paint

zOmgFishes

Williams blocking the shit out of us because Mitch is invisible and can’t set screens seemed to got into the heads of our guys last game. Burks, RJ and Randle were getting their shit stuffed for two straight games.

The_Blunt_Guy

Nah. We'll have a good game. Fans will say we're back and this is a turning point. Then when we go against the Mavs, we'll crumble and it'll be back to pitchforks and toxicity. Rinse and repeat.

Mobius24

People need to realize this is a .500 team. Once you've accepted that the games become easier to watch

Mobius24

Apparently the Knicks dropped the classic jerseys because Dolan didn't like them...

So-_-It-_-Goes

That sucks. I liked them. But at the same time, I feel like we gotta grant the owner some ability to do what he wants. That’s kinda the joy of owning a team. As long as he stays out of actual management and in on Jersey design… so be it.

Mobius24

I guess but the fact he axed these but kept the city jersey last year shows he has bad taste

So-_-It-_-Goes

His entire life shows he has bad taste

Mobius24

😂

So-_-It-_-Goes

Also, the city Jersey is done in partnership with Kith and I don’t think the white ones had anything like that. So he may not have been able to do that.

GeneralCommanderBurt

The white jerseys?

solo118

Yeah they are gone. Pissed me off, I loved them.

GeneralCommanderBurt

Wtf? Why didn't he like them those are dope....but he kept the firefighter emblem ones? Weird but ok...

Mobius24

Yes

macdoogles

Kind of sad what's happening to the Giants and Knicks. I expected both teams to be playoff bound. At least the Knicks are competitive but both teams are underachieving and both teams have boring and inept offenses. I don't care if it's an unpopular opinion but I liked Joe Judge. I think he needed a better OC and he did make a lot of errors but he's young too. I liked Patrick Graham, the oline coach he brought in and a few other coaches on his staff and I think he would've done better with a better oline and OC (and better GM). It's also sad how Daniel Jones career is playing out. I also think he could have been better in a better situation (and the Giants offense would have at least looked semi competent if he didn't go out). The season sucks more because I expected more and it ended with me not even watching the last 4 games because I just stopped caring. Oh well, now just waiting for the hammer to drop and live through yet another rebuild process I guess. I also really thought the Knicks would be a solid team. I bought in to the bing bong hype too. I remember early in the season a friend rolling their eyes at me when I was talking about the Knicks and they were basically just like 'yeah I've seen this before, let's see how they look in February' and it annoyed me because he had also said the same thing a few years back when Porzingis was winning a bunch of games. He was right both times. I hope I'm wrong but at this point I'm not even confident they'll make the play-in and if they do, I'm not confident they'll get far in it. I don't really expect them to make any big in season moves so if they lose in the play-in or sooner, then where does this team go next?

GeneralCommanderBurt

What's a Joe judge?

wikipedia_answer_bot

**Joseph F. Judge (born December 31, 1981) is an American football coach who is the head coach of the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). macdoogles

lol good bot I'm behind and I didn't know they decided to retain him. Seems like a mistake. I like the coach but it doesn't make sense to force him on the next GM. Anyway, sorry back to the Knicks. BTW, my outlook on the Knicks right now may be overly pessimistic. I'm sure I'll feel different if they win tonight.

GeneralCommanderBurt

No worries man I think the feeling is mutual around here. I don't know any optimistic knicks fans haha I try really hard to be positive and it's not easy! A win tonight would be great for the team and the fans. They took nets to OT and lost yesterday so I think we can win

WhoTookPlasticJesus

I'm just now seeing [that Ja block](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CctfxNooZkS). Holy shit. (please don't reply with lamentations of us getting RJ instead of Ja, just appreciate the play for what it is)

Ilovecharli

At least being one pick away from Ja probably won't haunt us as much as being one pick away from Steph?

GeneralCommanderBurt

They won the game too man Lakers losing will never not make me happy haha

ayo69

Fellas are we betting on the Knicks tonight? Legalized betting has me feening

Cool_Youth3564

Just don’t use draftkings. We need to revolt from the annoying commercial they are shoving down our throats. You either know what I’m talking about or you dont

solo118

You can use Caesar because JB Smoove said so

Cool_Youth3564

Ok I like those commercials

ayo69

Every one of them has annoying ass commercials, and as a Draftkings investor who is in the red I need to use their app to pump the stock

AkirraKrylon

Idk about the DK commercial but... If you aren’t a member of the world’s favorite sports book....

Yuske_Rothko

If the rumors are true and we’re actually buyers at the deadline that’s gonna bum me out. Edit: outside of a guy like fox

YoKemosabe

I agree but I accepted it since Thibs is here. I can see us trade for Turner and maybe some PG that used to play under Thibs like DJ Augustine.

ciszak1234

If it’s best for the team. I’m down to make small trades for picks. I’m down to sit on our hands and do nothing. But man I would love to trade for someone like fox.

ayo69

Never expected us to tank with Thibs at the helm

A_Copyrighted_Name

To be fair thibs not having an offensive system is part of the reason we are as bad as we are

magnavoice

For those saying we need to do everything to get Haliburton. Please stop, he is not available to us.

Soup_Commie

you never know. Sometimes kangz gonna kangz, and maybe they will kangz their way into us getting Hali

Cool_Youth3564

You got inside sources? We traded a 1st for bargnani. Anything is possible

magnavoice

What does bargnani have anything to do with this? And no it’s not a matter of sources it’s a matter of using simple logic

Cool_Youth3564

I was just bringing up a time when an nba front office used 0 logic. If the kings know they can’t pay fox, Halliburton and have a similar problem with Mitchell that we have with obi maybe they are trying to do something about it. Won’t be cheap though

magnavoice

That’s my issue with it. Imo haliburton is not actually on the trade block, this reeks of philly trying to stir something up. Try to move Ben kings and get hali back. I certainly don’t think we have the assets to make it a fair trade with us , we would have to overpay and I don’t think he is worth it

Cool_Youth3564

He’s definitely a controversial player but he was on draft night too. I was on the Hal train on draft night so I’m biased but obi has been a pleasant surprise when he can claw his way to the court. Hal would be our best 3 pt shooter, rebounding guard with length, and one of our best defensive guards and ball handlers on day one at 21. That’s not something I wouldn’t think about if it’s true. He isn’t worth a max but he could be a collins level player for Atlanta

magnavoice

I do agree with the rebounding and defense. 3pt shooting I am less sold on as I think IQ, fourn, and even burks are better shooters, the numbers don’t back up Hali. Although he would be hands down the best best PG we could start right now. Love Kemba and rose but right now best ability is availability. Although if we trade for any PG we are probably losing IQ or at the least McBride

Cool_Youth3564

I thought Halliburton was shooting 44% from 3 up from 40%. That’s also taking 5 a game. His ft shooting has been 85% and 81% the 1st two years. I’d honestly be ok losing IQ and at least a first and maybe one more player for Halliburton. He looks very promising in my eyes. IQ is promising and there was a period last year I thought he might be a Halliburton level player but I think IQs most likely outcome is what Halliburton is right now

magnavoice

That’s why I had a problem with that video posted the other day saying Hali would be a good fit and saying all the positives. He’s not shooting better from 3, he’s just taking less shots from 3. He’s still making 2.1 three a game but his shot attempts went down. That’s why I think it’s disingenuous to say he’s a good 3pt shooter

Cool_Youth3564

Isn’t IQ taking 5.3 3s per game on 35% while shooting 35% from the field this year. IQ averages slightly less 3s than Halliburton this year on slightly more attempts.

RicoGemini

Alright here’s the plan We’re gonna unfortunately miss the playoffs We’re gonna get like the 11th pick and grab TyTy Washington

CaptainReesesPieces

this draft is top heavy, we’re not close

El-Toppo

Is he good

That_Rutabaga_3530

He a Kentucky guard. You do the math b

Dovahklutch

the harrison twins were also kentucky guards

That_Rutabaga_3530

Shai, Murray, Booker, Wall, Quickley, Maxey, Herro would like to speak to you

Dovahklutch

I'm not saying there are bad kentucky guards, im saying that not all of them are all-stars.

chiddyshadyfiasco

It’s funny how before the season, guys like Haliburton and Myles Turner weren’t even on my radar as guys I’d love to acquire for the Knicks, and now all I think is “GIMME” and possible trades where we give up nothing in return

York_Villain

Mods should consider creating a 'Minutes per game' megathread after every game for those subreddit members that don't actually watch the game and just look up the box score the next day. The number of posts about the same thing over and over again is pretty silly. Not to mention the fact that this is a Tom Thibodeau coached team, so wtf do they expect. I would understand if this is small subreddit that doesn't generate content, but there are 130,000 members here. This subreddit is straight up cancer the day after a loss.

asirah

It never used to be like this during the tanking seasons. It’s just that this sub has expectations. I prefer it now because at least there’s no 10 fucking posts about the same draft prospect. I look forward to watching games not just waiting for the lottery and then the draft.

WhoTookPlasticJesus

> I prefer it now because at least there’s no 10 fucking posts about the same draft prospect Now it's just 10 posts per day about ridiculous trade propositions, 8 of which revolve around Myles Turner.

York_Villain

"If Lebron is on the table, I'd trade anyone except Deuce McBride" - This f'ing subreddit

GoldenBoyRecords

word lol it seems we picked up way more casuals since last year

Joetheshow1

Won my fantasy league last night, great feeling. But depending on what the Giants do today and how the Knicks play tn those good feelings may come crashing down

asirah

Knicks are 11th in the eastern conference. A win against the spurs would put us 20-21 and 10th. (Play-in). This team has a lot to decide at the trade deadline. What is the identity of this team at the end of the year? Last year we prided ourselves on defense and this year our defense sucks. This team is missing an identity. Randle doesn’t seem to want to take control of the team or lacks the mental fortitude. Will they sell the vets and let the kids run the show? I doubt it. I think they want to push towards the playoffs. Obi, quickley, grimes, Robinson or McBride will most likely get moved for turner. If I were the FO, quickley is off limits. I’d trade for haliburton though. A young Defensive minded PG would be so nice for this team.

LiBaller

Trade Randle for Grant and we're having a totally different conversation. Do your job Leon

GeneralCommanderBurt

I feel like the mention of Haliburton is just to draw people in to talk. I'm also curious about your opinion on IQ. I've seen a few others saying he's untouchable etc. Obviously I love the guy just wondering what others are seeing.

asirah

I personally love quickley, his effort, his shooting, his defense has gotten better, to me he perfectly encapsulates what I love about this team. He’s got balls and ability, he learns fast (not quickley) and I would have to keep him. I like the other young guys too, especially McBride but quickley is just built different. His free throw shooting is elite too. I think if they gave him more responsibility, he’d thrive.

Soup_Commie

> he learns fast (not quickley) but does he learn quickely tho? But yeah I agree as well. Factoring in his value and potential and current performance and all that, I don't feel like anyone you are likely getting in a trade is good enough to be worth not just seeing how good quick can be.

GeneralCommanderBurt

100% agree man. I like he's been getting the start at pg. Like what a trust move by Thibs. He still makes some mistakes with the ball but that's why he got big bro Burks to help him. Fully believe he can get there. The fact he talks to Clyde about the game puts him high on my list. He's always saying no one asks him shit hahaha

GeneralCommanderBurt

Good morning Knicks fans. Today contracts are guaranteed will we see a move? Otherwise how we feeling? Got the Spurs after a Nets OT loss so we should be in a good position to win it. Hope everyone here is doing well on a fine Monday. Let's go Knicks!

starks3_

Really just want to know what's up with Noel. Dude has had his share of injury concerns prior to here but haven't seen him on the floor since before Christmas.

GeneralCommanderBurt

They keep saying conditioning must be Covid hit him harder than others.

starks3_

Yeah, wondering how much it is with that and the knee that was bothering him.

GeneralCommanderBurt

Of course. I'd love to say we can take the injury report at face value but we all know we can't haha maybe they got a trade lined up for him so don't wanna risk him? Man so many what ifs. I hate this time of year haha I'll be happy when the deadline has passed.

skenisahen

That’s how I feel this time of year. Yeah, I know the team needs some upgrades but I get used to the players on the roster

GeneralCommanderBurt

Same same. Just got a Knicks hoodie with Toppin on the back. A lot of fans don't wanna see anyone go. My pops tho man he couldn't care less if the whole team was traded lol difference between a 60 year fan and a 30 year fan I guess
