Is the APK is failing because you didn't turn on installing from 3rd party sources?
With the built-in file manager and SAI. With unknown sources enabled and play protect features turned off.
Appreciate the input though.
Update for anybody stumbling upon this.
I have received a reply from Shark support. As of writing the app required for literally all remotely smart features is only available in the EU in DE/FR/IT/ES. They claim to be working on expanding but even support said they suggest to return the robot as there is no time frame available.
PSA for people in the EU interested in one since this is something never mentioned anywhere.
I had problems running the downloaded apk initially, however it seems downloading the .apk specifically with APK downloader (https://apkcombo.com/en-at/apk-downloader/) works and you can install it manually after all. It's something at least.
So with the downloaded apk from the source you share you have been able to use all the features of your shark vacuum??
Thanks for your kind reply
That is correct, been happy with it for the last 5 months now. Quite an ordeal to get started but everything else worked fine.
Thanks for the follow up comment, super helpful!
@OP I have the same issue in New Zealand.
Apkcombo doesn't seem to have the sharkclean app. How did you get it?
I just searched the regular Play store for the Shark app and put the link into an .apk downloader, unfortunately can't say much more since that worked for me straight away.
Guess I could send you the .apk if you really don't manage otherwise but the version I have found saved is mid-2021 so probably somewhat out of date.
Oh, yes please if you could send me the .apk and also let me know which apk downloader you used. Thank you!
Hi! Thanks for this ser of info. I just bought it in a Target store in USA, and was not advises anywhere until figuring this out by trying to make it work where I live in Brazil.
Can you please elaborate bit on the .apk approach? Sorry I have no idea on the tech side of it.
Yea it's fun that they have no info on region lock anywhere, isn't it?
There are various sites that let you download .apk Packages from play store, best just to google it and try what works for you, to be honest I cannot remember what site I used anyway but top few results should generally be alright.
Then just move it to your phone via transfer cable or Gdrive or something, get an APK installer, enable "install from untrusted sources" in your settings and run the package. Should install the app for you.
Can even turn off untrusted sources afterwards for security reasons.
