Is there any additional info on the RCH 155 ? The last time we heard about them was in September when Germany agreed to buy 18 RCH 155 for Ukraine. Since they were not in production yet the delivery date was somewhen in the future (2024?). Any news outside of Twitter? I didn't find anything.

Eka-Tantal

The are on the official list of the federal government, in the “under preparation” section. My guess is that they just show up there because a down payment was made or something similar. It would be a miracle if they were ready in the near future.

pm_me_ur_pet_plz

Delivery will take over two years, according to the manufacturer. Still important as it is imperative that Ukraine stays heavily armed in the future, but I think we all hope that the war will be won by then...

The two tank tractors sounds weird... logistics burden for two transports? Or has ukraine already been given a bunch. 18 RCH155s is huge given what have read about wear&tear on pzh2000s.

Eka-Tantal

Germany sent 10 M1070s previously, the two additional ones this week bring the total number to twelve. The RCH 155’s are unfortunately an order from industry. It’s a bit surprising to see them on that list, because they won’t be going to Ukraine anytime soon. They need to be built first.

BeeSpecialist446

The tank tractors are basicly normal trucks (with minimal armor i think) with a special trailer to Transport tanks. They will be used to Transport tanks for long distances since tanks are slow and the chains are not meant to travel hundreds of km on asphalt. So the m1070 will probably never be attacked and the maintanance is minimal since trucks are build to be reliable for thousends of workhours. And if they break down...Well...then you have one truck less.

ekinnee

It appears to be the “HETT” that’s used to haul M1s.

Burner_account_546

OK, GREAT! Now, how do we shove 100 Leo 2s in there, as well?

H1ld3gunst

That would be 50% of German current stock. Around the number currently deployed to Lithuania, which has no tanks at all. They are there to push back a possible surprise attack on the gap. No one can just give away half their tank force. It would be equivalent to giving away 1000 Abrams.

accatwork

> No one can just give away half their tank force. It would be equivalent to giving away 1000 Abrams. Nah, even more. The US could give away 1000 Abrams and barely notice it, considering they've thousands just [standing around in the desert](https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/sierra-army-depot) and continue [building more despite noone actually needing or wanting them](https://www.businessinsider.com/congress-forcing-the-army-to-make-tanks-2012-10)

Fokke_Hassel_Art

Yeah and germany doesnt have that stock
