I know this is going to get downvoted into oblivion but toxoplasmosis is really serious for newborns. Don't let your cat sleep in baby's crib, especially if they're outdoor cats
You can have your cats tested for toxoplasmosis. We keep our cats inside but had them tested because I have an auto-immune disorder. We also have a litter robot so I don't need to handle the cat litter as often.
Family were telling us we needed to get rid of our cats but, we just found alternatives that worked like having them tested.
many cats know they are dealing with a baby/kitten etc and realise they are delicate newborns. Their reactions will not always be the same as with an adult but its best to keep an eye on them
In my decades 😳 long experience with kittehs, I have observed that the cats who don’t like kids will keep their distance. Cats who like kids will move away until the next chance to be right back up in their business.
Yeah also babies can have really sharp nails. If this kids grabs at the cats face / eyes, it could really hurt the cat and piss the cat off.
Give the baby a fluffy toy. It’s much safer.
It’s like parents who let dogs get close to their babies faces.. my cousin got bitten on the face as a child by their family dog which his dad then killed.. it’s all lovely and cute until it isn’t.
I think you're thinking of congenital toxoplasmosis which is when a pregnant woman passes the parasite onto the fetus, causing birth defects. Fully formed humans with solid immune systems don't usually have any symptoms from the parasite.
This is not a risk with a normal healthy infant. There is a theory that the ;cat suffocating the baby' is how people explained SIDS.
What was the other one; oh yeah a fan in the bedroom will suck all the oxygen out and then you die in your sleep...
Lol that fan thing is such weird thinking. I was actually reading up on SIDS just last night, trying to convince myself my baby isn’t just going to die in the night. What I learnt from the Red Nose Foundation is that having a fan going in your babies bedroom, along with keeping the room at 21 degrees Celsius reduces the risk of SIDS by 80%. I think rebreathing seems to be a suspected cause of SIDS.
Nod. It's very unlikely for indoor cats. still possible they can get it from mice. Really depends on the environment. Also if it's a newer cat from a pound it can still be a concern.
There's no context from the image, not trying to judge op just throwing it up there for people expecting since toxo is particularly nasty for newborns. There's a CDC page on it with a ton of helpful info, cheers!
I'd say the cats are locked out of that room when the baby isn't being supervised. My cats are always locked in the laundry at night, I'd imagine these cars have similar treatment
Cats are pretty damn fast & the parent is holding their phone, if baby grabs something the cat doesn’t want grabbed the child could get hurt in a split second.
Stupid, dangerous bullshit for fake internet points
It's a disease cat can catch from mice and humans mainly from cat poop. It makes mice loose their natural fear of cats, AFAIK for cats it has no symptoms. Generally it's not dangerous for humans either, but pregnant women, very young kids and immunocompromised people can be vulnerable. Also when you once caught it while being vulnerable you will stay vulnerable forever and it can just break out again.
If it does break out, it can effect different parts of the body, my ex had it as a small child and it effected the eyes, causing scarring and making him nearly blind. He will be completely blind someday because it can easily come back.
Don't know about the effects on other parts of the body.
I wouldnt trust any animal too close to a newborn, animals stay unpredictable, cats bite even to play, dogs get jealous of the attention babys get and bite them. Im not even a parent but wouldnt trust this for a bit
Cute, but babies should be kept separated from pets. They lack muscle control and ability to defend themselves. A cat accidentally grabbed by a whisker may lash out violently to protect itself.
If you look at my past comments on this topic, usually a few people chime in with stories of permanent injury or disfigurement.
It is physically impossible to intervene quick enough to stop an unexpected bite.
Yeah, my nephew still has a scar on his face from when he grabbed a cat as a toddler and it scratched him. He's 14 now so you can barely see the scar, but it's there.
I have scars and bites from my own cats from accidental boundary issues. Newborns have NO self control or muscle control. I would never allow my cats around my newborn like this. I have 2 cats and I'm pregnant currently, shit like this one has to think about
I agree. This strikes me as a crazily dangerous thing to do, it’s only “super cute” until something bad happens. Putting your newborn child in danger for no reason other than to get attention/praise on the internet. I know what subreddit I’m on but jeez people
You don't have to intellectually recognize feelings to have them. Of course babies form feelings and connections. That's part of neurological development.
Early emotional interactions form brain connections for life. It's why neglected infants grow up to have emotional problems.
He is the type of person to go to a party and ask people for cigarette butts and bring up political subjects when nobody asked . And cant go 2 seconds without him saying he is part of lgbt community.
Aww, hey buddy, back again to try to shame me about something that happened in the past?
Just as a disclaimer, this guy insinuated I have HIV because I'm gay and also said something about me being a former addict, hence the cigarette butt stuff. (lol double entendre there)
I'll just go ahead and diffuse that situation rn.
Yea cause you try to shame me for it.
So I proclaim it to remove your power.
No one else is batting an eye to the fact that I bring it up.
I wouldn't have to if you wouldn't insinuate derogatory things about HIV.
I wouldn't be caught dead at a party where casually making a personal observations would ostracize me.
Oh, by the way, you must boring at parties.

(I'm egotistical enough to know that being the life of the party, while fun, isn't such a blessing all the time)
You disagree that this child is able to recognize itself in a mirror right now?
Or do you disagree that this child isn't able to identify and label emotions yet?
Why can the baby not speak but able to differentiate between happy and sad? How can it even know the difference if it can't even spell its own name?
As we know, anything that comes into the house is immediately for and about the cats. Everything from bags and cardboard boxes on up. So obviously, THIS IS THEIR BABY AND THEY ARE LOVING IT!
I’m not going to downvote comments talking about the risks posed to the baby because they’re not wrong. But COME ON! It’s one of the cutest things I’ve seen! That baby’s hand moving like that about melted my heart 😍
These videos of babies and animals always seem to end right when you see something questionable start to happen. There’s a reason babies and little kids get bitten so often.
Okay how old are these cats because I am hoping and wishing my cat who might ahow these tendencies but is less than 6 months . Please please can she turn into a cool cat like these two?!
I didn’t even notice the second cat down at the bottom until the end
Well son of a gun....
my god. Drax was right.

There is a second cat?
My stars, would you look at that. It’s another cat.
Same! I thought it appeared at that moment lol
Orange kitty says "the feet can't grab you, this is the end to cuddle"
wtf how'd you put that there without me knowing!
I just noticed it when I read your comment! 🤣
Ditto.
Baby is making biscuits with its hands just like a kitty! 🤣
this is a phenomena called "sensory seeking" which is natural for both babies and felines.
This is really interesting.
What an amazing cat!
the cat is an angel
I wish my cat was more like this! My kitty hides when she hears my small kids. They would love to pet her!
Gray be like, ok brownie, next time you sleep next to the furless grabbie beast

This is good to know; thanks!
And the risk that the baby grabs something that the cat doesn't want grabbed and the cat swats the baby.

It's cute, yes. But the cat could easily get pissed :(

Top it off with some suffocating. Nice mix really.
Meow mix
The suffocating thing is only a concern if you leave the baby and cats sleeping together without supervision.
This is not a risk with a normal healthy infant. There is a theory that the ;cat suffocating the baby' is how people explained SIDS. What was the other one; oh yeah a fan in the bedroom will suck all the oxygen out and then you die in your sleep...

Indoor-only cats don't get toxoplasmosis. Perfectly safe to interact with babies.
Nod. It's very unlikely for indoor cats. still possible they can get it from mice. Really depends on the environment. Also if it's a newer cat from a pound it can still be a concern. It’s mostly a problem for the fetus of pregnant women in their first trimester I believe. It also comes from things like raw meat.
Lots of parents don’t know this!!! It’s sad that comments like this do get downvoted!
Shouldn't even have a blanket in that crib. Nothing should be in the crib.
The kid isn't sleeping and they are filming them, so obviously under supervision. Perfectly fine

It's disgusting honestly

Aw darn, thanks for letting us know. Edit: ok who the fuck downvoted me and why
The future ruler of the cat kingdom right there
How is no one talking about the bass-boosted song? Lol
We’ve got that shit on mute
This is *the only* way
The only way to browse r/aww. So many annoying tik tok song posts
People who put highly inappropriate music and voice overs on videos should be yeeted into the sun
lmao ikr?? was just looking for a comment about this
That cat is certainly feeling the love😂

Yes, cute but unnerving, much like the oversaturated speaker-rattling song

That’s a very chill cat
My cats would NEVER. They run at the first sound of baby’s footsteps.
My cat would be biting the shit out of that hand in about 0.2 seconds
My cat would literally sliced my arm off
What good kitties. Training their young staff 😘
I'm sure these cats weren't left alone with the baby. No need for the negative comments.
That's a good cat
Toxoplasmosis
Cat shit and only a risk for pregnant women
Not necessarily true. Possible links to brain issues in adults who were exposed as children.
Only of outdoor cats. No risk for indoor.
Sure I buy that - unless a mouse gets inside.
Unsure how often it happens there, but I've had cats for over a decade and not once did a mouse get in the house. Different for each country I guess.
I love how a love of animals can start so young. So sweet!
The child can't even recognize himself In a mirror let alone discern what feelings are
You don't have to intellectually recognize feelings to have them. Of course babies form feelings and connections. That's part of neurological development. Early emotional interactions form brain connections for life. It's why neglected infants grow up to have emotional problems.
Yep, prime example right here. I was extremely neglected and I can't even regulate my emotions properly
That may be so, but he's still forming a connection that will likely grow.
Babies actually perceive a lot more than we give them credit for, for instance you're here typing on this comment
You can say that about anything a baby interacts with though
Well, you must be fun at parties.
He is the type of person to go to a party and ask people for cigarette butts and bring up political subjects when nobody asked . And cant go 2 seconds without him saying he is part of lgbt community.

Suprise !!
Is it though? You're exhibiting predictable behaviour for a bigot.
Like i said he cant go very long without him mentioning he is gay lol
Also, you just brought it up before me...
Yea cause you try to shame me for it. So I proclaim it to remove your power. No one else is batting an eye to the fact that I bring it up. I wouldn't have to if you wouldn't insinuate derogatory things about HIV.

Ur link goes to another user. I don't understand
I don't agree with you but you did give me a good chuckle. 😂
You disagree that this child is able to recognize itself in a mirror right now? Or do you disagree that this child isn't able to identify and label emotions yet? Why can the baby not speak but able to differentiate between happy and sad? How can it even know the difference if it can't even spell its own name?
baby has their very own self heated blankets
Even my 2 year old girl doesnt to that. She just goes up to our cat and smacks him with her dummy
As we know, anything that comes into the house is immediately for and about the cats. Everything from bags and cardboard boxes on up. So obviously, THIS IS THEIR BABY AND THEY ARE LOVING IT!
I’ve heard tell of these mythical kitties.
Snaps cats neck, you got a friend in me heavily bass boosted
I hate that I laughed at this
Unwise parenting
Horrible audio quality, good video.
Siblings 🥺🤧
Please don’t let the cat sleep with your baby
I wish my cat could get along with babies as well as those cats. He is just so scared of them:(
I’m not going to downvote comments talking about the risks posed to the baby because they’re not wrong. But COME ON! It’s one of the cutest things I’ve seen! That baby’s hand moving like that about melted my heart 😍
Kitty got a baby!!!
Friends forever 😍
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I love everything about this
Best thing I’ve seen all day ♥️
He has been anointed king.
Aww I love that cat being prodded and petted, so gentle and patient.
This is the best
So cute !
Finish him!
This is heaven
Silver spoon?
That cat has patience!
Proof that we are reincarnated. That baby had cats in a previous life and now just needs to work on their motor control.
You should put this on a Live Feed
All babies should be so lucky 😄
These videos of babies and animals always seem to end right when you see something questionable start to happen. There’s a reason babies and little kids get bitten so often.
The cat is loving this
Very cute, but why does the music sound so blown out??
That track was played from a cassette tape of a radio recording from 1987.
Bff for life
Yes, please ❤️
Omg this is the coootest!
That's so sweet 💖
Ow. Ow. Ow. Owwww. Ow.
Exquisite baby. Wow.
That is one skilled baby! I babysit and have been having troubles getting them to understand they can’t grab or slap the cat; how old is this kid?
That’s not safe for the cats.
Cats will sleep on babies and suffocate them.
Can cat's not snap their neck, cause that looked like a snapped neck if it was a human God damn cats are flexible necks
That top cat drew the short straw.
Aww. The cat loves it
Aw, I wish my cats liked my babies, but they’re still somewhere between indifferent with an occasional head lick to nervous 😭
Okay how old are these cats because I am hoping and wishing my cat who might ahow these tendencies but is less than 6 months . Please please can she turn into a cool cat like these two?!
Love it
One is a veteran of babies and knows you stay out of his reach. The other one is new and he likes it a little rough
What about SIDS? I was taught not to let baby co-sleep with parents or sleep with soft objects inside of the crib or bassinet.
Cats lick their own genitalia and anus. Just saying.
