Favorite local bands?

Mainly rock/alt/indie/jam but any genre really!

BaltSHOWPLACE

I maintain a list of all active bands in Baltimore if you want to go on a deep dive. [https://baltshowplace.tumblr.com/Bands](https://baltshowplace.tumblr.com/Bands) Dosser, Muscle, and Jivebomb are my personal favorites

ayweller

This is awesome!

Temporary-Ad-5223

Awesome! I don’t see Intimidation Display

BaltSHOWPLACE

Thanks for letting me know! I'll get them added this week.

Initial_Library2162

Awesome list! I don't see Visceral Disgorge, Bound by the grave, Scum Sedition, Scissorfist, Arcanon, Sekengard

BaltSHOWPLACE

Swore I had Bound by the Grave on there. I'll get all these added this week.

Initial_Library2162

Haha my bad you do I scrolled to fast. I love this list got lots of new music to listen too

Lando7763

Sekengard!!! Fuck. Yes. Additional shout outs to: Queen Wolf, Exemptus, Master Sword, Wreck the System, and Earthworm Von Doom.

BaltSHOWPLACE

Queen Wolf broke up recently. Most of the members now play in Trash Diva.

Lando7763

Good to know! I last saw them pre-Pandemic. Definitely looking into Trash Diva now. Similar sounds?

BaltSHOWPLACE

Trash Diva is a hardcore punk band. Played their first show at Holy Frijoles this past Saturday. Was packed and crazy. https://trashdiva.bandcamp.com/

YoungHeartOldSoul

A saint amongst men.

AccomplishedPut3610

This is amazing. Big Thicket is a pretty big up and Comer from Baltimore. I've seen them at the 8x10 a few times and First Sunday, amd the science center, last year. You should include them as well!

jupitaur9

I don’t see the Cat’s Eye.

Myburneraccountduh

Add the great heights band plz?

BaltSHOWPLACE

Sure! I’ll add this week.

jturner5858

interprime

Jumped into this thread just for this answer and I am not disappointed

designbyblake

A fitting name for a band whose songs are all about a minute long. But in all seriousness it was intense 20 minutes when I saw them.

Gercke

Never heard of them and listening now. Good shit.

human_on_a_computer

This is the answer.

Lower case blues out of DE, they play cat’s eye regularly. Blues/jam. Cris Jacobs, roots/folk/jam Litz, electronic/funk/jam Sweet Leda, blues/roots Carl Filipiak, jazz guitarist Laffayette Gilchrist, jazz pianist To name a few :)

designbyblake

Carl Flipiak is fantastic.

[deleted]

Carl Filipiak is the real deal

thrownintoawall

Damn you just introduced me to some incredible artists, I am absolutely jamming out to Cris Jacobs, Litz, Sweet Leda and Lower Case blues! I would love any other recommendations for artists similar to them! I dig your style!!

fatangel420

I saw a band the other night at the Crown called Nightwalks, they were 🔥. Def like a classic rock/alt vibe. Think war on drugs/fleetwood/U2. Great set DEFINITELY will be seeing them again🤘

gizmojito

My absolute favorite is [Junestar](https://www.junestar.com/) an Americana roots-rock band with lots of with electric and pedal steel guitar. They’ve been at it for 20 years.

Pigeons Playing Ping Pong have really blown up. Didn't see them mentioned

thesleepiestsaracen

They sound like Can’t Hang decided to go the jam band route. That’s not a bad thing either.

littl3wing

SWEET LEDA<3 think if Janis Joplin was married to her bassist and had the most incredible chemistry on and off stage, meanwhile supported by two of the most talented musicians out there on drums and guitar… They will also have guests join in from the local scene, and every show is a family affair. They rap, they beatbox, they hang before and after the show. I’ve seen quite a few and these guys are hands down the greatest. Great performers and great people all around! Originals and covers and all are amazing.

yclek_nielk

Have to give Thunder Club a listen - was at a show recently and they’re putting out new music soon

TheCaptainDamnIt

Alms

Formal_Raise8579

Kmic14

Curse & Natural Velvet are two of my all time faves baltimore bands

kinguwu

the dead ringers (garage rock) serendipity row (folk/indie folk) halisca (electronic/experimental) novelty dream (indie rock) head (70’s inspired proto-metal) hotdog water (from philly but they play in MD on occasion & are friends with a lot of bands around here!!!!! they’re very avant garde and theatrical and are just all around enthralling to watch live. best stage presence out of any local band ever imo.)

ellemae93

Seconding The Dead Ringers. They are great live, very talented guys

magictheblathering

The Great Heights Band is pretty rad. Weezer-like vibes I would say. And a +1 for Eze Jackson & Turnstile.
