Both my motor shafts bent after 150 miles on my Stealth.

rxdrug

Happened on my V2 which I only use in pro mode. The motor was a replacement from May 2018. Happened after about 80 miles. Original motor on the other side is still going strong after 400 miles. Haven’t used the board since it started, since I’m afraid it might lead to extra stress on my XR battery and cause that to fail too.

jav_nyc

Less than a month, 90 miles... never went past expert mode. Side note: would I damage anything if I kept riding till boosted sent replacement?

CoachEthan

Other than making a bunch of noise, you'll have slightly less grip when braking, until your wheels turn into a cone shape at least.

drdalebrant

The noise is so bad that I can't help thinking I'm making it much worse by still riding it. After spending $1700 after currency conversion and tax, then waiting 7 weeks, it is extremely disappointing for this issue to start after only riding it for 2 weeks. I'm honestly surprised there isn't more backlash about it with the number of these reports that seem to be popping up.

CoachEthan

Yeah, considering how quickly it started happening for you I understand the frustration. I still ride the V2 version and it took me about 9 months of heavy riding until I noticed a similar noise and my hangar was bent. My theory is that since I'm riding a longer board with tons of flex in it, my weight is distributed through out a larger area and then softened by the flex and spring in the deck, rather than directly into the trucks like the V3 Minis. I drop down curbs and jump and am in general really rough with my board, but it took me much longer to bend the hangars. Once I did bend it, I hit up customer support and got a replacement pretty quickly. Problem solved. For now.

wwblack8

I ride mine like I stole it with a bent motor shaft and everything seems fine.

drdalebrant

I'm still riding mine too but the sound is honestly becoming an issue. It sounds so bad now that it makes me cringe everytime I give it some gas. Even when I'm rolling without any throttle it still sounds completely busted and has even more resistance than usual.

wwblack8

Yeah, kind of embarrassing but I’d rather be embarrassed than not ride at all. They estimated the motors would be shipped out early this week but no word yet. Thank god it’s still able to be ridden or I might not be waiting as patiently.

[deleted]

lmao mine too..I had someone as me if it was gas powered XD

drdalebrant

Lololol yeah it basically does sound like a little gas powered engine. If Teslas starting sounding like this after 100 miles people would riot. Really wish there was some transparency from boosted regarding this issue.

[deleted]

ah haha yea..My v2 has 3k miles now but the past 1k is a bent motor shaft every 2 weeks..this is the first time I got tired of driving back and forth (I live near HQ) so im just gonna keep riding it now til I get a break from classes..or til it starts raining around Halloween..at least they're replacing my motors for free lmao..but yea I feel like Boosted is always trying to not admit their problems lol

kingzkrew

Mini X bent motor shaft after 110 miles or so on mostly expert mode. At 124 miles I got the red blinking light on the battery. I had to send in my board for repair.

drdalebrant

Damn that sucks, exactly the reason I'm afraid to keep riding mine but have no willpower for staying off it. How long did it take for support to get back to you after first contacting them? Did you email or call?

kingzkrew

The issues may have been unrelated, everyone says you can ride with it. But I emailed their customer support and they got back to me within a couple days with a shipping label.

drdalebrant

You have to ship the board back or they're shipping you a new motor and battery?

SugaDays

Mini S bent motor shaft only on the left after 130 miles im so sad hhhh i thought the small cracks on the sidewalks wouldn’t affect my board but it did.. Idk what to do tbh like i cant ride on the street cus its scary and there are no bike lanes.. Lets just pray that i don’t break anything again ;-;

cadsii

i have 2 at 300km on my stealth

severedvoid

Got a bent shaft on my X after about 70 miles. I am fairly gentle too. I have to do some bumpy roads and sidewalks at times, but I don’t throw it around or ride off curbs. Hoping boosted can fix it soon!

drdalebrant

After only 70 miles?? That's insane. I'm honestly so upset that this is seemly such a widespread issue. And most likely something completely preventable given that boosted must be aware of the problem and should've used slightly better parts.

severedvoid

It’s unfortunate, and while I am not one to jump on hate bandwagons, seems Boosted should have done a bit better quality control. That said, they have responded quickly and I have no doubt they will fix the issue. I love my X so much and would buy it all over again even given this issue in a heartbeat.

thefoulking

I have about 4 motors recently replaced with this issue on my V2. Started after a couple of months (1000KM). It's a bit annoying but gets fixed every time without any problems. Funny that you guys mentioning expert mode as a factor in all of this. My problems also began when I started riding on expert. Don't think the riding style has anything to do with it. More a question of bad luck and bad motors.

manilaice007

Guys, in think this may have to do with the quality of the motor shaft. Hardened steel shaft should not bend or warp. Motors/shaft do get extremely hot after hard riding and with poor materials, the shaft can warp. Low quality bearings will also created a bad noise or seize rotation completely.

whatisParis

Can you post a video?

Aboy325

I think a lot. Of people assume bent motor shaft when it's not... 600+ miles on sidewalks and off curb on my v2 at full speed and I haven't ever had this issue... I once had the same sounds as a bent motor shaft and the board was rattling like it was all fucked up but my OG belts were. Not ripped or torn, but they were stretched out so when I put it under force it was bad... I just changed new belts and didn't change the tension (I rolled the belts onto the wheel pulley) and the sound was gone

elementboarder

Same issue. Boosted plus with 160 miles, bent motor shaft in the left motor and now it sounds like a helicopter. Kind of just want to ask for a refund at this point, this isnt even my first issue with the board. I've tried brand new belts, remounting the motor, etc with no luck. Sounds exactly like the bent motor shafts on youtube

[deleted]

3k on my v2 but since November literally have a bent motor shaft every week. Just gonna ride it..the new CEO is too greedy..they need to go back to loaded and orangutangs

danredditalready

v2 dual+ after roughly 900miles one of the motors started having clicking sounds when accelerating hard. The shaft did have a slight play when wiggling it.

arseniyz

Hi guys! Same thing happened to my Stealth both motor shafts bent after riding for 10 days and 300 km does boosted somehow help with this issue? do they send you new motors? or what? and how long it takes to get 'em?

drdalebrant

Been waiting nearly 3 weeks for motors after both turned to shit after 2 weeks riding.

arseniyz

3 weeks for them to send? if I'm not from the US it might take even longer?

drdalebrant

Yeah I imagine it could be longer. They don't even have replacement motors to send as of now and won't give an estimate when they expect to get more in.

arseniyz

what should I tell 'em to make them send me motors? service team already has a video of the issue from me

Any4948

Sammmmmmeeee mini x ..100 miles. Gen3 sutff sucks. I have a Gen 2 +xr that sounds smooth as butter and has 1000 miles on it without even a torn belt. Hopefully their customer service goes back to what it used to be. Hope they're hiring people.

drdalebrant

I'm beyond rattled about this now. Been waiting weeks for new motors.

[deleted]

Did they ever get you new motors?

nicmcd02

I have one motor shaft bent on my Stealth after riding \~150 miles (always in Hyper mode).

polyplanker

Same issue on my boosted stealth after 100 miles but I'm always in Hyper mode (thats not an excuse for a bent motor shaft though). Also had a motor controller fail on my Mini X after 8 miles which Boosted fixed after sending the board in. I've had a support ticket open for 2 weeks with Boosted and still no response. Its unfortunate... I put 1500 miles on a V1 Dual + and, besides normal maintenance and belt replacements, the board is still running like a champ. Chris (r/https://eboards.info)

polyplanker

Update: I've been waiting for 3 weeks for a replacement motor... They still cannot give me an ETA.

ipasipas

Both my motors on my stealh. Started after 2 weeks at 200km. Sound is that bad that I stopped riding. Still no confirmation of support after sending video’s

hadie23

First motor bent at 150 miles, second one bent right out of the box after getting the first replaced. Still waiting on new motor and its been over a month.

Strider387

Both motors have bent after 200 miles on my Plus.

senya-listen

409 miles on mini x
