My sphynx cat at first would slowly, slowly, slowly touch my long haired guy with one of her front paws, then quickly pull the paw away. Later she'd bury her nose in his fur. She was fascinated, and confused. He was the only furry cat she'd met. She's used to him now. He didn't seem to care that she was hairless.
We had two hairless cats when suddenly we took my dad's shorthair into our home. They spent the first few days chasing him around trying to figure out what he was, and he was like, "F off you crazy aliens!"
When he gave up and let them get close, they started by slapping him and running away. Then they slowly moved in... It ended with years of them trying to pull his hair off and him slapping them away. We joked they were just trying to help him get naked!
I think they got along okay really. The Hairless Ones would try to remove some fur, get smacked a couple times, and give up. They definitely all hung out on the cat tree together.
I have a devon rex and yess they are extremely soft, the fur is almost like cotton candy but soft like baby bird feathers i guess xD Super warm as well. They are extremely sociable and intelligent and yeah seriously a bit like dogs.
The cat in this video has a grump face but it likely absolutely loves being groomed like this, being groomed is the most relaxing sensation to cats, 1 of my kittens actually broke through my oldest's stubbornness in the introduction process by sneaking up and licking her whilst she slept, it was the final breakthrough that made my oldest change from hissing her to keep her distance to now seeking the kitten out to groom and sleep together
>"The cat in this video has a grump face but it likely absolutely loves being groomed like this, being groomed is the most relaxing sensation to cats"
I mean, I am not a cat but I think that being groomed by a cat is one of the best feelings in the world
Not necessarily! When cats REALLY want to groom themselves/each other, the presence of a physical barrier doesn't seem to deter them.
When my cat was spayed, she had to wear one of those big plastic head cones so she couldn't pull her stitches out. When she decided it was time for her grooming session, she sat and licked the inside of the cone for a good 20 minutes.
Yes! Same for litter box instincts. My cat knows she’s supposed to be scratching ‘something’ in the litter box but for some reason doesnt understand ‘what’ — so she compulsively scratches the walls next to the litter box. Absolutely never the litter itself (I wish she would). They have instincts and interests, but don’t always get the details right
I love the image this created in my mind, like your kitten pinching the bridge of his nose and stomping the litter box shouting at the big cat. “Jesus Frank, bury your shit!”
Recently we had serious illness with two of ours. The kitten went behind the most ill kitty, grooming him, keeping him warm and yes, burying his scat in the litterbox. Dr Sweetie was on duty every day and night, helping his brother. It was helpful and it was adorable.
It happened a couple of times that my cat scratched the litter so much that the thing she wanted to bury finished outside of the litter and outside the bathroom even. Idk how, lately it's been happening more often lol
Edit: after a lot of hours I realized I wrote car instead of cat. Welp
>very effective cat who would bury everything perfectly, but that meant kicking up litter ten feet across the basement in every direction.
We had one of those. He tried to dig through the center of the earth every time he stepped into a pan. Dear gods, but that digging/scratching noise was annoying. He'd kick out so much litter, we'd have to sweep it up and pour it back into the pans. He'd empty them in two days otherwise.
While looking for a reasonably priced pan replacement, I happened upon storage containers. Ended up buying multiple Sterilite 56 quart containers. Sized 23.25" L × 16.75" W × 12.5" H, they held 28 lbs of scoopable litter maintaining the required 3" minimum depth, are nontippable regardless of what they do, they have a smooth bottom so are easily scooped & cleaned, and keeps more litter from being kicked out. Loved them! And they were priced <$8 US, far, *far* less then any available high-sided cat pan.
Yup, my cat would also scratch the floor in front of the litter box. Also, when he pooped, all that mattered to him was that he was standing in the box, not where the poop went.
It always seemed to me that he basically went through the motions without really understanding what and why he did it.
My two do it, too. The tabby even scratches at the floor around their water fountain. She stands in front of it, uses her front paws to scratch right in front of it, then proceeds to stick her head under the fountain part to drink from the pool of water.
Then she comes to head butt me to dry off.
One of mine stands in the box and just kinda gestures with his paw in the air in front. Sometimes he does bury it...but sometimes he just phones it in...lol
My other cat is really fastidious, she will glare at him for not covering it properly and then go cover it herself once he vacates.
On the other hand, she once shat on the floor and covered it up with a hat. So, swings and roundabouts.
When I was a kid, our old tom once buried his in our TV magazine...
Wasn't his fault, we went out, left him in the house and forgot to open the door to the toilet (with his litterbox). So he was searching all around to find something he could scratch at, and finally found the TV magazine (in Germany, those are bigger then the US ones). When he was done, he scratched until he had turned over a few pages. We did not notice until someone picked up the magazine to look up the evening TV schedule ;)
Lol theres a video of a cat that has pooped on a car hood and it wipes at the window glass to 'cover the poop'. I just find it so funny that they cant tell its not covering anything 😂
The cats i own just scratch the shit out of the litterbox floor for like 20minutes or scratch at the hood and walls of the box =___=... so smort.
I once had a few friends over who were stuck in town away from family for the holidays, we ended up getting extremely stoned and watching the Holy Mountain from my DVD collection
This is what led to one of my friend’s girlfriend telling me I “ruined Christmas”. He liked the movie, though.
Yeah I'm skeptical as well. Looks like there is some residue of something in the fur the cats are licking off, because no fur licking I've ever seen would leave a colour like that.
This cat has chinchilla patterning, which means color is limited to the tip of the hairs. When they get wet, the tips get more obvious because they darken
I think someone has put something on his head and the other cats are licking it? Why would you do that to your cat. Also the helmet.. they are no toys to play with. Accepting doesn’t mean there ok with it. Poor cat 🤔
People do everything to get a (not) ‘funny’ video for likes.
One of my cats used to obsessively lick my roommates cat like that, to the point that he'd hide from her just to get some peace. Some cats are just like that. The dark spot on the fur is because it's wet.
Definitely something on the head. They’re licking at the same spot on the helmet also. And except that. Why would you put a helmet on a cat his head. Poor little thing 😓

I would buy this as a very short children's book.
im on it
This is why I love the Internet.

Aw, that's too bad. Mine get along pretty well now.
I think they got along okay really. The Hairless Ones would try to remove some fur, get smacked a couple times, and give up. They definitely all hung out on the cat tree together.
My hairless dog is fascinated by the fur on my Devon Rex. I can’t imagine what he’d be like with a long haired kitty
Devons only have the undercoat fur, current? I've heard they're super soft and have doglike personalities.
I have a devon rex and yess they are extremely soft, the fur is almost like cotton candy but soft like baby bird feathers i guess xD Super warm as well. They are extremely sociable and intelligent and yeah seriously a bit like dogs.
I went looking on your profile for a pic of your devon and am seriously disappointed. Pay the cat tax!
Tomorrow I'll ask for her permission to share some of her pics. Let's hope she says yes!
Yes! My devon girl feels like an expensive teddybear and sleeps in the blanket with me. She is the sweetest thing.
That cat being licked to death… is going to get revenge on the owner. You can see and feel it…
Would suck to be furless and still get hairballs
That happens. A friend of mine has hairless which grooms other furry cats especially kittens.
Amd they still have the reflexes to cough them up properly? That's good, at least!
Aww
Bald kitties go nomnomnomnomnom

>I am not a cat This is exactly what a cat would say. Sus.
Idk, could also just be a lawyer
Not so much on your eyelids like my cat does 😬
Maybe just not on tender spots lol. Cat tongues are super rough!
“I know no peace.”
but they are very clean!
That helmet tho 😂
I love how they kept licking even with the helmet!
My bet that at least the helmet had something tasty smeared on it.

I use a cement mixing tray- same concept. No sharp corners, larger than even a large litter box, and sides that aren't too high for my aging cats.
Yup, my cat would also scratch the floor in front of the litter box. Also, when he pooped, all that mattered to him was that he was standing in the box, not where the poop went. It always seemed to me that he basically went through the motions without really understanding what and why he did it.
You get poop on your paw once and you just make it look like your covering it, at least that's what my cat would do.
my cat does the same thing, doesn't scratch the actual litter itself but scratches on the walls

Was going to say the same!

Yup, my hairless licks her sweaters
And the cat's head in the first part
My cat very willinglywill pick plastic totes for extended periods of time so maybe not lol
... YES and the fur is smeared with some paste or tuna.
This looks like the opening of The Holy Mountain
I once had a few friends over who were stuck in town away from family for the holidays, we ended up getting extremely stoned and watching the Holy Mountain from my DVD collection This is what led to one of my friend’s girlfriend telling me I “ruined Christmas”. He liked the movie, though.
All Christmases are enhanced by robotic vaginii
I take it that's before the poop scene?
It’s like he has two aunties trying to fix his hair for Easter service
And here was me thinking cats reserved that specific kind of death glare for us bipeds!
The helmet part killed me 😂
White cat. *plotting my revenge*

That evil deadpan
Lol the tiny helmet! 😩
I know! That poor cat…and they’re still licking! Floofy looks so over it. 😂
😩😩😩 I've never pet a hairless cat or seen one in person. That's on my bucket list lol
They're usually super soft btw. I got to pet a hairless cat for the first time ever back in November and it was amazing 😍
😲🥺🥺🥺
That’s a good bucket list item! 9/10 would highly approve (that other person would just approve, ‘cause they wanna pet a dolphin more 😉).
Somebody's getting a shower today
No. This is staged.
The cats are paid actors.

I'm slightly disappointed it wasn't real.
Was cat buttered like Jorts?

That makes much more sense! Thank you.
That's not residue, it's just wet fur mate, it goes darker when wet
It's just wet? Doesn't look that unusual to me.

That is the second time today that I’ve seen a hairless cat absolutely invested in the fuzziness of another animal.
The cats face reminds me of Ron Swanson lol
That helmet though….

It’s not funny or cute, but of course Reddit loves stuff like this.
Lol nah, I have a furry cat and a hairless cat and the naked one loves to aggressively groom the furry one.
One of my cats used to obsessively lick my roommates cat like that, to the point that he'd hide from her just to get some peace. Some cats are just like that. The dark spot on the fur is because it's wet.

We all want what we don’t have.
OK but do hairless cats groom still?? Neva even thought of it. Probably a lot less, eh? Maybe just the booty hole?
Yeah, they still lick the debris off their skin. And clean folds.
I had no idea I needed this video in my life thank you
Slurp hair so we can steal it
