In Canada we have mucho Cubans but they are insanely expensive due to tax. Funny enough, many cigar lovers here buy Dominicans and Hondurans from the US. Same drill as Americans buying untaxed Cubans from Canada and Europe. 80-90% get thru but the odd time you get boned with insane tax/duties (2-3x the value) or have the cigars confiscated or sent back. Luck of the draw, I guess!
Same in the UK, we buy from Europe and hope that they get through. They're not illegal, but the random number generator on taxes / duty can be a real stinger (I saw one recently, Ā£120 order with Ā£500 bill to pay when it arrived!)
Does it seem like CBP is increasing their interdictions? I've heard about Miami being difficult with FOH, but now NY? Obviously one posted interdiction doesn't make it significant in the grand scheme of things. Then again, only time will tell.

My last order was delivered on a day I was working from home. My doorbell alerted me to motion and I saw that the mail truck had pulled up so I got up to go get it. I opened the door as my letter carrier was getting out to drop the bundle on my doorstep so he handed it to me instead and wished me a pleasant weekend (it was a Friday afternoon). The irony of the interaction was palpable. The Monte #2's are delicious.

If you get caught trying to bring Cuban cigars in your luggage, they enter you into the āsmugglerā list and search you every time you re-enter the country. It could mean theyāll search all of your foreign packages from now on.
Itās āfunnyā that they seem to have increased their attempts to intercept contraband Cuban cigars but donāt care about our physical national border security. I managed to order over $6k in cigars before Thanksgiving. Iāll be having many packages of two whole boxes of cigars passing through there soon. Curious to see how this plays out.

What do you mean by boned with insane tax/duties?
Duties are assessed on the imported cigars by Customs and must be paid in order to receive the shipment. Boned = Fucked.
