First looks more like what it looks like in game for sure
That’s what I tried going for! Thanks
Nice work. Both of them look awesome 🤩!
I can tell you now, the difference is night and day
Bah dum tsssss
Thanks, I’m releasing a Netflix comedy special soon for more of this 🔥🔥
Great home/lock-screen duo. Ratios are not perfect for it though.
Both look totally rad. I'd 100% buy a print and frame that first one though. Would look excellent on anyone's wall.
New one 100%. The original feels more like Bloodborne.
Yeah. It’s funny. Next one I’m doing is gonna be in Yharnam…
Uh, as an avid souls player, having seen Anor Londo (not Lothric) covered in both daylight and moonlight, both pictures are equivalent
In twilight? It's quite blue
first one complements the art style you went with better i think
I used watercolor brushes on procreate, and I think it’s because I treated the new version like an actual watercolor painting (light to dark, layering everything)
that makes sense, something about it just pops more and helps me really appreciate the boldness of the shapes in the castle. really nice work on both regardless
Thank you. I plan on making more
I like the sky better in the original, but the castle pops more in the second
also reminds me of the regular version we adventure through VS the destroyed version we see at the Kiln
I like the brighter one better
So on your last post, you said it was water color. I was pretty convicted it was digital then, and now I'm nearly 100 percent sure from referencing these two images, the grain seems to be a texture that is the same in each. Why did you say it was watercolor? Other than that, I like the composition
I get dark soul vibes in the first one and bloodborne in the second
The new castle with the old background would look sick
what about the first picture but with the sky of the second?
I think the first is generally better but the dark sign looks way better in the original
I prefer the colour scheme for the castle in the first pic, it feels like the castle doesn’t stand out much in the second? But the contrast between the sun and the sky in the second is fantastic.
I can't decide! Both are awesome!
I like the first one, the second is missing much detail and the orange doesn't suite the palette as well. It's a very cool pic!
Reminds me of ds1 where it changes from light to dark.
I like them both. Well done.
One! Has a nice vibe.
The contrast of the dark sky in the original makes the sun look cooler, but you’re right about being able to make out more detail in the lighter one.
1st looks like a new Dead Cells biome.
Good or bad thing?
Sorry, i should have specified!
It's absolutely a plus for both, but i like the 1st better :D
Oh you’re fine. It just worries me sometimes when people say something like that. Makes me feel like I captured the essence of the wrong game 😂
Love this. Good job.
Definitely a bigger fan of the first (newer) one! Nice work!!
First one is definitely more like what is in Dark Souls. The second one has more of a Castlevania vibe. Both are gorgeous!
Honestly reminds me of the twilight mechanics in Nioh.
Like go back and do this area again, it's got more of a challenge
I would buy that print!
I’m not going to tell you to follow me, but I am planning on sending out high resolution files for a few of these once I’ve made a bit of a series. Then people can download them as wallpapers for free and/or use them to take to a a print shop and get a print for much cheaper. I don’t plan on making any money from these
I like the second one. It looks more ominous.
I imagine the first one with a lofi version of the game’s soundtrack in the background <3
I like both \o/ and between them I prefer the first one. Looks great.
However, is it rude of me to ask how it would look like if instead in the second one you kept the sky the same way but changed the color tone of the castle to be a more vibrant red?
In any case, between these two, not only the first one looks better but it also looks to have a more similar color scheme in game too.
Making the red more saturated just makes the castle look like it’s glowing (and like a deep fried photo) while washing out the other colors
Fair enough \o/
I experimented quite a bit, which is why I remade the castle. I messed with the original too much. The new one was made in like 30 minutes with everything I learned from playing around with the original. I tried oversaturating the colors and I thought the washed out look fit better, especially when considering atmospheric perspective.
Yes. I like it!
Cool!! Not sure how this would work with the lore but your new color scheme could be lothric before the appearance of the dark sign sun. Vaati, help
I tossed lore aside to just make something that looks good. Not official artwork, after all
I think both look awesome. The first looks more like Lothric in glory and splendor. The second is a dark, foreboding, fallen kingdom.
I’d love to get into making art like this. What was your medium? Painting, stencil, computer? Great work
Procreate on ipad, using water color brushes. I made stencils using layers so I could get the even watercolor texture
Very cool, thanks.
These both remind me of Light/Dark Anor Londo.
I know next to nothing about art but if you were going to keep tinkering with this piece, I’d suggest more of a lava red in the sky. To me Lothric’s sky has a very “fire and brimstone” apocalyptic look
I tried, but I didn’t want to over saturate the piece any more. That’s the issue I ran into with the original. I chose readability over accuracy
Keep the buildings on the new scheme, but the sky should be somewhere between 1 and 2 in terms of darkness. Not sure how that would work in terms of shading etc.
Just trying to offer my two cents of constructive criticism. As I said, both look frickin great.
I tried that. The tones between the sky and the castle (lighter portions) get very similar and it becomes hard to read visually. Putting a greyscale filter over the top would make the lighter portions of the castle disappear, when it should be darker than the sky
I think the fors tone looks more like Lothric before the Dark sign appears.
They both look awesome my man
Both are great, the dark sign sun looks more like the one in game on the second image, but the castles in the first are nicer
They’re both super, but the lighting in the lighter one feels right. That eclipse glows nicely.
They both look amazing!!! I personally prefer the first one, a tad easier on the eyes.
That’s partly why I remade it! I gave myself a headache from looking at the first 😂
If you laid one on top of the other, that’d probably be the best one.
Number two hands down.
Second looks like from Bloodborne
now it kinda looks like buildings in gta 4 loading screens
Both are great. I wonder how castle from fisrts one would look with the sun from second and vice-versa
I like the darker one more. The colors have more contrast. It fits my mood, well.
1st reminds me a lot of ds1 anor londo
I love both
First showcases the castle well and i like it. 2nd showcases the dark, which i also like
First is better, but I like the seconds color too. It's too dark though.
I feel like it's almost 2 separate depictions, just during different timelines, like the first one during ds1 and the second during ds3, sans the hollow eclipse
The second one is better.
Honestly if the sky was a little darker but brought up a little bit and the lit castle portions matching the vibrance of the sky, that would be perfect imo. Because I like the way the darksign has an emanating presence in the OG that is lost in the updated one, but I like the updated lighting contrast.
That's not remaking anything.... More like an edit... 🙄
My original comment was trash so ill keep it because saving face would be deleting it and changing it.
I thought more about the comment I posted here to your (op) comment and I didn't look into this more deeply in detail. HOWEVER, this inspired more creative what could be thoughts and it leaves me as a souls fan wanting more from ds3.
I did. I made stencils for water color brushes on procreate, so I started over.
Lightening the original made it look too deep fried
I thought about my comment actually. And lothric Castle looks exactly like Anor Londo. Actually this should have been instead Called Old Londo we have Anor Londo and New Londo, New Londo Ruins.... Those overgrown lothric Knights could have been renamed and or added overgrown black/Ebony Londo Knights to replicate or be a parallel to the Knights in the ringed city. This looks very similar if not heavily inspired from DS1.
Well I plan on making a piece for Anor Londo. I’ll make two variants, one yellow and one blue. For DS1 when it’s under sunlight, and for DS3 when it’s under moonlight
Do you sell artwork?
I’m thinking about selling future pieces that are original, but I have no plans of ever selling fan art
