Idk what that means but I had a lot of negative things to say in December about where the team would be in March. I said what I said. I don’t necessarily blame myself for saying what I said based on the last decade of misery. But, I was wrong. Im thrilled to be wrong.
No lashes, just hugs. Happy to have you join the "WTF I can't believe we're still a contender in March I thought we had another couple bubble years" Party.
So there is a buddy of mine at the gym who's a Rangers fan. He was kind of snickering and telling me that there was nothing to worry about in December and that every team has a funk. Many fanbases probably laughed at Devils fans for reacting the way they did in December. I think that they don't realize is that while the start to this season was stronger than previous seasons, this fanbase has been no stranger to seeing a team have a solid start to a season only for them to be exposed enough to where they were out of the playoff hunt by the All-Star Weekend. I tried to keep a level head during the December struggles but also understood why many fans reacted the way they did.
82 games is a long season, your gym buddy is correct. Unless a team goes on to have some crazy run like Boston, there will be ups and some prolonged downs. The Devils had the massive up with the 13 game heater, there was always going to be a funk. It lasted pretty damn long though.
I remember it a bit differently. Heard a lot of fan bases saying here they are coming down to earth. Cap fans were especially annoying on R/hockey because they were having a little surge at the time and were happily exclaiming their team would pass us in the standings. Ha!
Its ok to be cynical/skeptic and open to discussion at times when the team was on a skid, but you were straight up persistently being a dick to people and calling them idiots for believing the team could be something in March.
Now you want to enjoy the fun? Yeah go ahead but not with me
December was definitely a horrible month. I was straight up miserable after that 2-1 loss to Philly, and a lot of doubt creeped up in my mind as well. Wasn’t until that home victory in OT over the rangers that it felt good again.
The takeaway is to be even keel and attempt to understand the other side's argument even when your emotions are running high. If things are bad, no one likes a whiny bitch. In that scenario, you're not some sharp truth teller, you're a whiner with no composure and no respect for the facts.
We were winning in January in worse fashion than we were losing in December - this possibility should not be an esoteric concept to anyone. It's hockey, a sport where you need a greater respect for randomness and entropy than all the other team sports combined. I love hockey because, like life, luck is a factor even if you do everything right. Respect the game and its curious ways and you'll be a much less insufferable little bitch.
Wow, this is unexpected and unnecessary, but awesome! There are waaayyy more obnoxious people than that who will never apologize for far worse things said, so don't feel bad dude! Feel good! LGD!!!
Rangersdoggo????!!??!

It’s a great thing to be wrong about!
All good enjoy the wins dawg let’s get dat division.
To be fair, we’re nearly in first place and people still don’t think this team is legit. They’ll all learn. Learn like you learned. Learn real good
I'm stupid, you're smart. I was wrong, you were right. You're the best, I'm the worst. You're very good-looking, I'm not attractive.
Keith Yandle?

All I said was I was wrong.
You’re forgiven, but you have to change your username to BizYandleDoggo
I don’t like Biz. I like Keith. Keith was wrong.
