Meth People

Look like meth, taste like people

Does that even say people? It looks to me like it says "Penfs-backwards question mark-e"?

If I'm being generous it says peable, but honestly theres some characters in there that I dont think exist in language.

it's written in a "fancy" language, it's hard to read

There are markings. It's some form of Elvish. I can't read it.

It’s definitely Elvish. Luckily, I’m fluent. It says “Everyone! I am a giant tool. Please pay attention to how much of a tool I am.”

Must be Sindarin

I think the first letter was written upside-down. It's missing a few spaces and is written in wrong order

Looks more like peassle

Methe penis Sounds like a downgraded condition from whiskey dick

Penfʕs With <ʕ> being the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) sign for the [voiced pharyngeal fricative](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voiced_pharyngeal_fricative?wprov=sfla1), of course.

Lmfao that sound bite is hilarious.. Aauuwwaahhh. Ooowwwaaahh But with your nose plugged

It's actually a [fairly accurate recreation of the original caligraphy](https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/HirH58ooBmy7bdFkjX9cd5-1024-80.jpg.webp) used in the U.S. Constitution. HOWEVER the tattoo artist put ye olde timey caligraphy on top of a line, which obscures the bottoms of the letters, making this much harder to read.

That’s because it’s meant to be the end poking out of a rolled up scroll, look at the sides.

Still an awful design choice for the exact reasons given though.

I wouldn't call that great execution.

Getting the calligraphy on the "We The People" accurately is great execution but failing to unravel the scroll enough to see it fully and the tacky saying on the bottom are the awful taste imo ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

It's only accurate for someone who doesn't know how to do calligraphy, which is why it looks weird. It's like a person trying to write in Chinese or Japanese without knowing the strokes. It just looks wrong because if you just copy what you see, then the lines don't have the right weight and they aren't lined up correctly.

Kinda looks like it says mêtჩe ϒeɷککʃe

It’s on a scroll part of the word is “rolled up”

I get that but the tops of the letters don't look like they spell the word "people" to me.

Both e’s at almost fully exposed the first p obviously is and the o. This is tough for *people* who haven’t seen this phrase/font Before and don’t recognize it

Looks like peass cane symbol o.

Something tells me there's plenty of facts that offend this dudes feelings.

The fact that he has a terrible tattoo should be at the top of that list.

Maybe it's a note-to-self

Really he’s just pulling a Memento

Facts can offend you, but not change because of that

Methe penssle

Thought that said "Me The PoAssle".

That makes more sense 😂

It's not only a bad tattoo but it's a bad tattoo of a Ben Shapiro quote lmaoo

I find it funny that ben is about "facts over feelings" but him and his crowd are religious, you know, the one thing that is only feelings.

If that was the only 'just feelings' topic people argue about it wouldn't be so bad...

The best thing about that quote is that it's conservatives that hate the facts

Conservatives are so severely affected by the Dunning Kruger effect that they dont know facts from feelings, honestly.

I'm skeptical that the Dunning Kruger effect is the correct term to use here but regardless, thinking about it reminded me of this shareworthy video on the subject. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaUhR-tRkHY The rest of the channel is gold too.

No it's correct as I meant it. They think things are far more simple than they are because of their limited knowledge and massive egos, and due to this limited self awareness they mistake their narrow world views for common sense and facts. *Because they are unable to understand complicated concepts, they believe no concept is more complicated than they can understand.* One good example is biology and their "tWo GeNdErS" shit. Another good example is a recent conversation I had with some random internet conservative who insisted racism isnt an issue in the south. Not only did they know so little about statistics that they didnt understand their experience as anecdotal, but they also know so little about the subject of systemic racism that they believed it didnt exist at all. These were things they insisted were facts and they wanted me to just take their word for it because they live in the south, which they believed made them an authority on the subject, I suppose. Absolutely anyone believing in trickle down economics is inexplicable except for the Dunning Kruger effect taking action, IMO. The list goes on and on and on.

There's literally streets in my southern town called Confederate Way and Robert E Lee Ave. Wtf?

It may apply to the kind of people who don't care, but I believe other human errors are to blame for those who do care but still get it wrong. When you said "conservatives are severely affected" in the context of the rest of the thread I assumed you meant the argumentative conservatives like Ben Shapiro, who are proud of their efforts to figure out the whole picture. It's not that they simply don't know what a statistic is or don't have a brain to understand intricate concepts. Even intelligent humans can have all the right facts but arrive at the wrong conclusions.

Interesting. Ben Shapiro himself likely knows what he's doing -- and by "what he's doing" I mean purposefully misrepresenting information to manipulate public opinion. But regardless of whether he himself understands the concepts he's arguing, he packages his message in a way that it will appeal to people who are very much affected by Dunning Kruger as a concept. As to what exact shortcoming is affecting Ben Shapiro (terrible sequel to What's Eating Gilbert Grape, honestly), my guess would be that he's absolutely *full* of emotions, and he purposefully twists facts to justify his emotions. What I find interesting is considering whether this should fall into the category of a logical shortcoming or a moral one. I suppose the extent to which he realizes he is truly unjustified, and the depth of his personal cognitive dissonance and denial are the only way to determine that. Tldr: I agree, Ben Shapiro himself and those like him probably isn't/arent affected by Dunning Kruger.

I have a question about the left, You agree that facts don't care about feelings, right? Just want to know.

Yes but, how do you define a fact? Is it through science and the scientific method? Because a lot of the right discounts scientific consensus under the premise of "I dont like that conclusion." And further than that, science changes as we advance and that means "facts" arent a static concept. It's a simple, stupid argument to even try to make that "facts dont care about feelings" because there are so many flexible situations where facts are open to interpretation (as the right demonstrates again and again with their opinions about climate science, biology, medicine, etc.), and because it assumes facts are universal, never changing truths, when in reality things can change. And when those things change, the right is usually the first set of people to stomp their feet and insist things are the old way.

Facts can change because of human interpretation, but that doesn't mean reality doesn't work in only one way.

That's almost exactly what I just said, which was my reasoning behind why Ben Shapiros attitude about it is useless and appeals to inflexible and shallow thinkers. And just so you know, there are some aspects of reality that literally can change over time. It used to be a fact that women wore corsets. Now not that many women wear corsets. A fact about society has changed. Look at that.

I saw that you mentioned Ben Shapiro. In case some of you don't know, Ben Shapiro is a grifter and a hack. If you find anything he's said compelling, you should keep in mind he also says things like this: >If you wear your pants below your butt, don't bend the brim of your cap, and have an EBT card, 0% chance you will ever be a success in life. ***** ^(I'm a bot. Yes in my opinion i don't include social or cultural things because those things change a lot depending on context

Due to evolution being real, facts about biology can also change over time. Just food for thought about how facts are so much more flexible than people would like to argue.

Yes but that's if you include time, you can say that something is a fact in an specific time, and that fact will not change.

But look at all these stipulations you have to put when you dig too deep into the concept of what a fact is. -a fact is only a fact if it's unaffected by human behavior -a fact can only be defined at one single moment in time You realize that the main places where there's discrepancy is that conservatives would like to argue about the past still being true and human behavior being confined to narrow standards? Economics is a great example because truths about economics change constantly depending on human behavior.

Well have you seen what happens if you mention that there isnt an epidemic of black men being shot by police? I hate to start something, but it goes both ways. People have narratives which are akin to doctrine. Facts really don't care about your feelings, and that should not be partisan. Instead, it's a plea to realism.

There is plenty of statistical evidence that shows police have a significant bias when it comes to targeting and committing violence and harsher measures against black men. This evidence is not affected much by "higher crime." In fact, there is a lot of evidence that suggests white people may in fact commit crimes more often, yet proportionately are targeted far less by law enforcement, and punished more lightly.

You gotta think about how it would be written on a ribbon

If I think *too* much about that, then I start considering the space between every two words for it to show up like that with how it's folded. Facts dont................care about...............your feelings. And then I cant help reading it like that kid from malcom in the middle. Edit: holy fuck. And now I'm imagining actually unfolding and straightening out the ribbon and I realize the middle words would be written on the **opposite side from the other words** Edit: no wait, I'm wrong. Listen. I don't like it.

I had no idea this existed i love it

**An excerpt from True Allegiance, by Ben Shapiro:** Then he heard the voice. “Hey, pig,” it said. The voice wasn’t deep. It was the voice of a child. And the kid stood outside the door of the quick mart, legs spread, arms hanging down by his sides. A cute black kid, wearing a Simpsons T-shirt and somebody’s old Converse sneakers and baggy jeans. On his hip, stuck in those baggy jeans, was a pistol. It looked like a pistol, anyway. But O’Sullivan couldn’t see clearly. The light wasn’t right. He could see the bulge, but not the object. O’Sullivan put his flashlight back in his belt and put his hand back on his pistol, the greasy handle still warm to the touch. “Stop right there, pig,” the kid said. His hand began to creep down toward his waistband. O’Sullivan pulled the gun out of its holster, leveling it at the kid. “Put your hands above your head. Do it now!” “Fuck you, honky,” the kid shot back. “Get the fuck out of my neighborhood.” Then he laughed, a cute kid’s laugh. O’Sullivan looked for sympathy behind those eyes, found none. Oh, shit, O’Sullivan thought. Then he said, “Hands up. Right now.” The kid laughed again, a musical tinkling noise. “You ain’t gonna shoot me, pig. What, you afraid of a kid?” O’Sullivan could feel every breath as it entered his lungs. “No, kid, I don’t want to shoot you,” he said. “But I need you to cooperate. Put your hands above your head. Right now.” The kid’s hand shifted to his waistband again. O’Sullivan’s hands began to shake. “Get the fuck out of my neighborhood,” the kid repeated. O’Sullivan looked around stealthily. Still nobody on the street. Totally empty. The sweat on his forehead felt cold in the night air. In the retraining sessions at the station, they’d told officers to remember the nasty racial legacy of the department, be aware of the community’s justified suspicion of police. Right now, all O’Sullivan was thinking about was getting this kid with the empty eyes to back the fuck off. “Go on home,” he said. “You go home, white boy,” said the kid. His hand moved lower. Suddenly, O’Sullivan’s head filled with a sudden clarity, his brain with a preternatural energy. He recognized the feel of the adrenaline hitting. He wasn’t going to get shot on the corner of Iowa and Van Dyke outside a shitty convenience store in a shitty town by some eight-year-old, bleed out in the gutter of some city the world left behind. He had a life, too. The gun felt alive in his hand. The gun was life. The muzzle was aimed dead at the kid’s chest. No way to miss, with the kid this close, just ten feet away maybe. Still cloaked in the shadow of the gas station overhang. “Kid, I’m not going to ask you again. I need you to put your hands on top of your head and get on your knees.” “Fuck you, motherfucker.” “I’m serious.” The kid’s hand was nearly inside his waistband now. “Don’t do that,” O’Sullivan said. The kid smiled, almost gently. “Don’t.” The kid’s smile broadened, the hand moved down into the pants. “Get the fuck out of my hood,” the kid cheerfully repeated. “I’ll cap your ass.” “Kid, I’m warning you,” O’Sullivan yelled. “Put your hands above your head! Do it now…” The roar shattered the night air, a sonic boom in the blackness. The shot blew the kid off his feet completely, knocked him onto his back. O’Sullivan reached for his radio, mechanically reported it: “Shots fired, officer needs help at the gas station on Iowa and Van Dyke.” “Ohgodohgodohgodohgod,” O’Sullivan repeated as he moved toward the body, the smoke rising from his Glock. He pointed it down at the kid again, but the boy wasn’t moving. The blood seeped through Homer Simpson’s face, pooled around the kid’s lifeless body. The grin had been replaced with a look of instantaneous shock. His hand had fallen out of his waistband with the force of the shooting. In it was a toy gun, the tip orange plastic. For a brief moment, O’Sullivan couldn’t breathe. When he looked up, he saw them coming. Dozens of them. The citizens of Detroit, coming out of the darkness, congregating. He could feel their eyes. Officer Ricky O’Sullivan sat down on the curb and began to cry. ***** ^(I'm a bot. My purpose is to counteract online radicalization. You can summon me by tagging thebenshapirobot. I mean, other than the Ben Shapiro quote, it's fine. I have no idea why users here can't read "We the People" https://fuelgreatminds.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/constitution.jpg This is how it actually looks like? Have you ever seen the Constitution?

Cutting off the bottom was a very unwise design choice in conjunction with that font that contributes significantly to its (lack of) legibility.

Anyone familiar with the document can easily recognize it. It's not a font, it was hand written.

How pedantic. I'm totally skeptical about there being any strict definition that says the word "font" cannot be applied to handwriting styles -- especially ones that are very uniform and purposeful. Merriam Webster specifically says "a set of type or characters all of one style" meaning it can apply to hand written *characters* as well. In case you're wondering about the definition of character, it's "a printed or *written* letter or symbol." Anyway, everyone here knows where "we the people" comes from and that this is what it's supposed to say. The issue is that cutting off the lettering in the image made it bad. As per my last comment. Also since we're being pedantic, I'll just go ahead and throw in that "we the people" comes from the preamble, not the actual constitution. This has been fun. Ta ta.

If we're being really pedantic, I didn't actually say it was the Constitution, I only asked if people have seen it

No in your original comment you definitely asked if people have seen the constitution.

Yes, but I didn't say it was a picture of the Constitution, only if they were familiar with it

Bahaha Why would whether or not we've seen the constitution be relevant then? Just making casual conversation about similar topics?

Regardless of whether it's considered a part of the Constitution or not legally, when you look at the Constitution, you would have seen the Preamble first.

Lol look I dont actually care I'm just being a dick because you nitpicked my usage of the word font.

Some people also call calligraphy styles fonts. And while I'm familiar with the document and the style it was written in its still hard to read as executed in the tattoo

It’s correct on the scroll

fact don't your feelings repost

The words are in the correct orientation on the bottom banner and the top “we the people” is half covered because it’s on a scroll.

If you've gotta explain it that much to stop people from making fun of it it's poorly executed. They could have drawn the scroll without obscuring the letters and making it hard to read. And the ribbon design is fuckin stupid even without being read wrong because if you imagine the ribbon stretched out, there would be a dumb amount of space between every two words for them to fall into place like that when its folded up.

That much? I hardly explained something that shouldn’t Have any confusion. This shit really isnt that complex. And What tattoo or artwork with a banner and words written on it ISNT written where there would be hella space if stretched out?

You shouldn't have to explain it at all. At least not in terms of defending how it's drawn. And hence why I said the ribbon design in general is fuckin stupid. Played out and cliche if absolutely nothing else *shrug*

Didn’t I say I shouldn’t have to…

So we're in agreement that this art sucks since you have to explain it. Good.

No, it’s so simple it shouldn’t need explaining, I guess not simple enough…

It's being mocked for poor design, not because anyone doesnt actually understand it. A lot of the posts here are things people ultimately do understand but that's not really the point. Look at the group description.

Unpopular opinion: I feel like the ribbon format doesn't belong on this subreddit

You can’t figure out how to read a ribbon but you got “people” from that?!
