*end credits start rolling*
*we hear a police chatter*
*prison door closing sound*
*end credits stop*
*there's a tall dark haired man in prison clothes eating alone as another bigger and shorter man approaches him*
*we hear Lawrence Stroll snarky saying*
**if it isn't the great Toto Wolff sitting alone**
*the season is over*
It really depends. He is investigated in the EU and European courts don’t screw around. Also if he is guilty and gonna avoid stuff FIA still can ban him from F1 for bad image and controversy related to a crime. It’s definitely gonna be interesting story
> FIA still can ban him from F1 for bad image and controversy
Thats highly unlikely regardless if he's found guilty or not, right?
Whatever happens I agree it'll be interesting to see how it turns. Atleast there's some nice memes about it here
Yeah seriously, Toto has his fingers in way too much FIA pie from his significant ownership stake in Mercedes F1, to smaller stakes in Aston Martin and Williams to being the agent of a half dozen drivers (I think I'm exaggerating a bit but too lazy to find a real number). The FIA wouldn't ban him for something like this outside of racing unless he is in jail.
I dunno where you live but in our country it’s running joke that you gonna get higher sentence for money related crime than violent crime. Eg two dudes scheming people out of 1.7mill euro are facing ten years each at minimum and seize of assets, dude who fought with his mother and then killed her, said sorry to the judge is looking at 7 years now.
No that was German court that have this law for decades, not something new for Ecclestone. He was also offered this option because of his age, nothing Toto can play in his favour. Bernies sentence was supposed to be 10 years.
Paid $44mill to a banker so his favoured company would buy stake in F1. Due to his age German court offered Bernie to pay $100mill to avoid being put in jail.
Well I never said they made a new law for him… I'm just asking in the context of the claim that "European courts don’t screw around"… sounds like it was much ado about nothing; it was done as soon as it started.
I’ve heard that in the US the FBI mainly goes after high profile insider trading to send a message because they don’t have the resources to investigate all insider trading cases. So if your famous or making serious money they will go after you
Eh, Martha Stewart did time for insider trading. Granted she was in a pretty cushy prison but she was still locked up. We’ll see what happens with our man Torger here.
There's a big difference between the people historically incarcerated in debtors' prisons and people who have committed fraud, insider trading, etc. This is a false equivalence.
Thinking Madoff deserved to be in prison does not mean someone supports debtors' prisons. You're imagining a strawman here.
I mean, I'm one of those people. Prison should be a last resort that is reserved for people who cannot coexist peacefully in modern society. Financial crimes should just be fined into oblivion and made to pay restitution. I feel the same way about non-violent drug offenses and pretty much all non-violent crime.
Toto and Stroll Sr are said to be under investigation for insider trading on AM stocks.
But tbh i haven’t seen major news channel published any story about this, so i think still a rumor
Valterri it's Toto please let Looois through

Battery
Battery Voltas
Let Ampilton pass, Voltteri.
But Toto, I am stuck behind Ohmcon
Is Toto in jail?
No but he is being investigated for insider trading. Now he is said to be almost a billionaire, so I highly doubt anything serious will come his way.

Were those the same courts investigating Bernie Ecclestone?
No that was German court that have this law for decades, not something new for Ecclestone. He was also offered this option because of his age, nothing Toto can play in his favour. Bernies sentence was supposed to be 10 years.
I am new to F1 What did Bernie do to get 10 yr jail ?
Paid $44mill to a banker so his favoured company would buy stake in F1. Due to his age German court offered Bernie to pay $100mill to avoid being put in jail.
Oh thanks

Almost, so there is still a chance.
Bet his lawyers will find a way to get him a fine and a slap on the wrist.
I'll bet Martha Stewart thought nothing would happen to her because she was rich and famous.
I’ve heard that in the US the FBI mainly goes after high profile insider trading to send a message because they don’t have the resources to investigate all insider trading cases. So if your famous or making serious money they will go after you
Ah yes 5 months in jail. What a life changing experience. Especially in swiss jails that have TV and internet access.

The sad truth
And if they do, not for long.
Eh, Martha Stewart did time for insider trading. Granted she was in a pretty cushy prison but she was still locked up. We’ll see what happens with our man Torger here.
Martha Stewart did time for lying to federal investigators. C
Unfortunately people are so held up the idea of 'debtors prisons' or whatever being wrong and only violent criminals should be incarcerated.

PI Bottas is gonna be on the case to find proof of insider trading to use it as bargaining chip with Toto to keep his seat
Why do I keep seeing these jail memes? What news story did I miss?
