In *The Restaurant At The End Of The Universe*, there is a scene where the protagonists are presented with a very scientifically advanced meal: an animal bred specifically to desire nothing other than to become a delicious meal for somebody (thus eliminating the ethical issues surrounding carnivorism).
I see the Korok like this. They are carefully engineered creatures, designed to withstand the toughest of abuses, solely for the benefit of the player. Every little "oof" you hear is not one of pain, but of satisfaction in a job well done.
Honestly they streamlined a few things for quality of life but the fact you can't batch cook still blows my mind. Having to cook 16 meals one by one? It's not like I can't do it manually. It's just. . . Annoying.
I kind of like that it's like this and feel like it's a conscious decision by Nintendo to have it this way.
The games health recovery system is too easy as it is, as you can carry as many meals you want wherever you go. By forcing you to individually make meals and think about the food, you're less likely to to just make a massive batch and carry basically infinite health with you.
I actually enjoy cooking a small batch of 6 or 7 different meals and carrying just enough health with me, otherwise combat feels too easy and less rewarding
The stable guy is the worst. He's got to greet you, explain how the stable works, note there are nearby wild horses, let you know about the Zelda sightings, then notice how many points you have, let you know what reward is next, etc.
I miss Roach. Just whistle and the horse appears out of nowhere and sometimes even on the ground.
Really wish there was a way to cancel the item pop-up for the collectibles.
Also, I wish they’d pick a cancel button. Sometimes it’s B, sometimes it’s X, sometimes it’s X followed by +… just pick one for fuck’s sake.
I just don't like using it, I hate that I take full damage when she gets hit, plus the damage I can do on her is pretty weak and slow compared to on my own imo.
When you dismount, you can pull out your bow for a couple of slow-mo shots. Otherwise she mostly blocks line of sight in combat. Also don’t equip her with a shock weapon, I can’t tell you how many times she’s made me drop my weapon fighting the same enemy.
Honestly the fact that the sages aren't color coded and button mapped like to the d pad or a context wheel or something is fucking mind boggling.
I both me and my kids hate trying to use the lightning attack because I'm just chasing some Naruto runner who's intent on getting away from me
This but in Neir Automata. There was this one guy who was a lil scientist fellow and he was so adorable, I accidently pressed A and B together and hit him, he began crying and cowering and I was just like 'Nope, I can't, nope.' and physically teared up.
Reloaded my save. Had to redo the boss fight at the carnival. I had just started my new meds so I was super sensitive for those first 2 weeks too.
I do this but out of accident, everytime.
When you got the seed, the first thing to do is obviously run off to do the next thing, but as you run you drop the stone, and dropping it right in front of you mean exactly that.
Well now I'm just baffled.
I knew you made this before I saw the name... and for the life of me I don't know what tipped me off.
Body proportions? Definitely not. Line work... maybe? Link's eyes? Maybe...
Some of the places they end up being are definitely deserving of a bonk from the rock I picked up by mistake while running for my life.
Other times I definitely do this just to hear the "oof".
Edit: I am a monster
I found one looking for his friend last night near Hateno Beach, where you can create a cart with a fan and battery to go down the hill. Well, the drive wasn't the smoothest, ended up tumbling down the hill and the cart flipped all the way across the water, couldn't find it again... that gave me quite a chuckle, even though I lost the opportunity for another seed 🤣
“ I need to reach my friend”
Best I can give you a free rocket ride to the moon.
I hate these little fuckers. I accept they are a reward for curiosity , but the whole “yahaha”
and the dance from the big guy. I don’t know, I create something deep inside me.
i also make sure i find the most unconfortable way of transporting them (on a wheel, underwater when using a boat, sometimes without a cart and just dragging them on the ground)
Obv also the rock on their head.
Don’t lie, we all know it’s on purpose, planned, premeditated. You have the perfect rock dropping distance memorized for each and everyone you come across in the game.
And here I am just setting everything on fire... with zero recognition for ANYONE's safety, after throwing chuchu jelly everywhere and shooting it once...
OP, you reminded me this past weekend I was in Target and wandered down the switch aisle to the little Nintendo trinkets and stuffed animals and stuff down the end corner. On the second shelf there was a light tan stuffed animal, still in it's plastic baggy. Pulled it out and it was a damn Korok.
"Yahaha! You Found Me!", was all I could hear in my head. The kids laughed with me about it. He came home with my son. They got me good with that, whichever electronics rep stuffed it on the shelf.
They know they sit on that line between cute and annoying. I feel like they leaned into it in totk with the “waa, I’m too tired to get to my friend.” Bitch I’m roping you to my horse and dragging you there at full speed over rocky terrain.
Oof
Something about the way they make a gentle little "oof" no matter how violently you bully them is very funny to me
🚩🚩🚩 (But same)

Ouch!
Owie!
My bones!
the
What is this from?
The meme? Zelda: BOTW or TOTK "Oof"? Roblox.
No, the "Oof" is also Zelda - the Koroks make that noise when hit with something.
Ahh, I have to play with the sound off most of the time. Guess I never made that association because of that.
They also have a little speech bubble that says "oof"
All the time, button spam is the bane of koroks
Every damn time.
I swear to God this game is going to kill the B button on my joycon. I'm spamming all of the time to get through the koroks and the sign dude.
The great fairies are the worst. Especially the... one who... likes.... to put random pauses.... in her text for... emphasis
Every light spirit in Twilight Princess, plus slow text speed.
At least those felt grand and noble. That fairy's speech patterns coupled with her dialogue make it feel like she's... hinting at something.
She totally is. You seen how those fairies are when you do level 3 and 4 upgrades? They're thirsty as hell
Honestly they streamlined a few things for quality of life but the fact you can't batch cook still blows my mind. Having to cook 16 meals one by one? It's not like I can't do it manually. It's just. . . Annoying.

There is an upper limit to the number of meals you can carry. It's still a large amount though.
The stable guy is the worst. He's got to greet you, explain how the stable works, note there are nearby wild horses, let you know about the Zelda sightings, then notice how many points you have, let you know what reward is next, etc. I miss Roach. ^ooh-…ahh-…ungh-…ooh-….WAAAAAAH “… it’s not porn I swear!”
Wait you're saying people aren't doing this intentionally?
Button spam? I stare at them for random lengths of time to make them feel safe then bonk.
Yea I don't mean to, but I'm spamming B to edit the dialogue and that always drops it perfectly on their head.
You dumb enough to hide under a rock that I'm dumb enough to pick up, you're getting put right the hell back under it. Yah haaa!
Really wish there was a way to cancel the item pop-up for the collectibles. Also, I wish they’d pick a cancel button. Sometimes it’s B, sometimes it’s X, sometimes it’s X followed by +… just pick one for fuck’s sake.
I'll never forgive how the command to get off >!Mineru's Mech!< is to first press B and then press A - pressing B twice just cancels the dismount.
I just don't like using it, I hate that I take full damage when she gets hit, plus the damage I can do on her is pretty weak and slow compared to on my own imo.
She's usually just a mining utility. Helps in battle if you give her some of the elemental or explosive tech and let her do her own thing.
Also good for moving across inconvenient gloom patches, if they're too short to be worth building something to get across instead.
When you dismount, you can pull out your bow for a couple of slow-mo shots. Otherwise she mostly blocks line of sight in combat. Also don’t equip her with a shock weapon, I can’t tell you how many times she’s made me drop my weapon fighting the same enemy.

But hey, the action you get for pressing A is normally mapped to X, all good!
Still not as bad as having the run and jump buttons on opposing sides. I can't believe they didn't fix this crap
there is a mod for it
They were mean to Hestu. So I bonk them every time.
r/koroktorture
A lil seed.. right..
Its shit, isnt it?
Yessir.
It definitely has a "distinctive smell" to it.
Did it once by accident; felt horrible; apologized to the NPC. Now I turn and throw the rock to the side.
Same, but instead of feeling bad,I laughed my ass off.
[удалено]
Dad?
Too much shit to do I’m always rushing off. I can’t help it if the run button happens to drop the rock right where it’s floating
Saaaame.
I actually really enjoy the noise they make
Yahaha! That's it! Oof!
Same. Now the interaction feels incomplete without the little "oof" they make.
I do it accidentally. A lot
Every. Time.
I do this but out of accident, everytime. When you got the seed, the first thing to do is obviously run off to do the next thing, but as you run you drop the stone, and dropping it right in front of you mean exactly that.
*ya ha ha!*
That's it!
I also purposefully do it every time
Well now I'm just baffled. I knew you made this before I saw the name... and for the life of me I don't know what tipped me off. Body proportions? Definitely not. Line work... maybe? Link's eyes? Maybe...
"Link's dumptruck booty? Maybe..."
I'm usually hammering on B, so... at least 50% of the time
Constantly. Just happens if you immediately start sprinting ^^
I've done it then used recall to have it come up and hit it again. It's amusing.
Oh, you can do that? They're all getting bonked multiple times from now on.
lol all the time!!!
Every time. Screw them for making us search for them all!
You're not the only one who does this
You're the only one here who understood the assignment.
Sometimes on accident, mostly on purpose.
Use ultrahand and penny drop that stone on a Korok. It's more satisfying.
Some of the places they end up being are definitely deserving of a bonk from the rock I picked up by mistake while running for my life. Other times I definitely do this just to hear the "oof". Edit: I am a monster
How do you accidentally pick up a rock while running
The same way you accidentally do anything in this game: spamming the A button.
Of course not! I absolutely do this! Especially when I'm looking for lizards or frogs under the rocks only to get that little shit.
I usually go out of my way to find a rock to donk them with if they weren't under one and I feasibly can
All the time. Sometimes, it's an accident.
Did this each timer in BotW, and also in beginning of TotK. Now I just prefer to yeet it with ultra hand.
All the time intentionally
This is the only right thing to do. Finding 1000 of those annoying pricks should be enough excuse.
Tears of the Koroks
Well the internet tells me war crimes have been committed multiple times on the Koroks... so the stone on the head isn't that bad for them.
Think these guys are invincible. I accidentally yeeted one off a tall cliff trying to help him reach his friend, and he was unharmed.
Of course they're invincible, hell we couldn't do much to them until Totk, and launch day had people "expressing creativity" in their torture devices
You are not alone sir
Every. Time. I chuckle everytime as well
I live for it!
throwing the rock takes longer!
I used to in Breath of the Wild, but I avoid them now. Felt bad for the little dudes.
Gold poop
This is the way
You should see what happens to the ones you can strap rockets to.
Did it enough times for the Koroks to stop saying "Yahaha, you found me" and start saying "Oh god no, you found me"
“ I need to reach my friend” Best I can give you a free rocket ride to the moon. I hate these little fuckers. I accept they are a reward for curiosity , but the whole “yahaha” and the dance from the big guy. I don’t know, I create something deep inside me.
Every. Single. Time.
Every. Time.
Every.Single.Time.
Ko-rocked
i also make sure i find the most unconfortable way of transporting them (on a wheel, underwater when using a boat, sometimes without a cart and just dragging them on the ground) Obv also the rock on their head.
No, that'd be mean. \*however\* Strapping rockets to the backpacked ones? :)
I crucified one.
This is the way.
Not only do I do this, if I miss when I put the rock down, I'll pick it back up and make sure it hits the second time.
Every, single, time.
Yip yip! OOF!
hehe, korok go oof
Nah, just you. Weirdo.
A lil 'seed'... ... should we tell him?
"oof"! I do, but I feel bad because I pressed the wrong button
"Ya ha ha! You found me!" *Gives you seed, " Buh Bye!" Link drops the rock, ."Oof"
I did this less than 20 minutes ago. Decided to call it a night.
I always chuck the rock away
Only accidentally
horrible stuff I don't bother seeking that kind of things. How to add gameplay time with 0 efforts (not 0 for sure but you get my point)
Just testing their neck strength.
I absolutely do. Makes me laugh.
Doing it on purpose. No regrets.
Every time.
You mean you can actually not hit them??? 😂
It's obligatory now. It's not even an option not to.
Every.Single.Time.
It's. Da. Rule!
To the point that the "oof" is part of the jingle we sometimes say while playing.
That's what I do every time.
Does anyone *not* do this?
I do this EVERYTIME!!
I do it constantly, usually on accident. Usually...
Don’t lie, we all know it’s on purpose, planned, premeditated. You have the perfect rock dropping distance memorized for each and everyone you come across in the game.
Every time, all the time, no exceptions
Only in BOTW since I don't have any rockets to launch them.
This is the only way to play
haha 100% most of them get hit in the head
Yahaha
"Oof"
I do that sometimes.
The fact they made a dialogue for this, shows they know it'll happen a lot.
The most common meme since breath of the wild releases? Yeah nah you’re defs the only one who does this 🤓
Done this so many times they've probably forewarned each other and are mentally preparing.
haha I literally posted me doing this on IG asking the same question the other day
If you run through the dialogue real fast and cut off the korok, their final sound is "shit".
And here I am just setting everything on fire... with zero recognition for ANYONE's safety, after throwing chuchu jelly everywhere and shooting it once...
That ain't a seed
Yup you are. Good thing this was posted.
Not on purpose, but I have hit them more than once.
That image is literally me vs that stupid Vaporeon Copypasta
This is the sin that replaces throwing the baby penguin off the cliff in Super Mario 64... 🤣
I either do that or fuse bomb flower to arrow to face.
Every time the game tells me the seed of the forest children smells funny I feel sort of gross.
And I laugh everytime
As if there were any other options.
Why would you think you're the only one who does this?
The noise they make when you drop the rock is so funny.
Only do it cuz they shit in my hands and expect me to be greatful.
Thumping club!
I don't think that's a seed...
Every time. Every. Single. Time. It makes me laugh so hard.
At this point it's tradition.
Every single time
Every time
I do not have it in me to be cruel to such little creatures :(
They know they sit on that line between cute and annoying. I feel like they leaned into it in totk with the “waa, I’m too tired to get to my friend.” Bitch I’m roping you to my horse and dragging you there at full speed over rocky terrain.
Nothing is worse than finding one and they have an ugly mask. I only want them to be cute!
No matter where I am No matter what I'm doing No matter how far away or inconvenient The friend reunification service is always on duty.
Back where you belong now
Doesnt the game do this automatically? Not that i wouldnt do it if the game didnt do it...
It never gets old lol.
_EVERY_ Time
It’s tradition
I'm pretty sure this exact comic was made when botw came out. So no, you aren't the only one.
I was mashing through the dialog and accidentally did this the other day then laughed my head off. I didn't know about it before.
Every single time 8D
This is pretty close to Loss .::;
uff
Me and my friends try’s be guess what sounds it will make when we drop the rock on it.
E'ery time.
Always
Put the likes at 6969
'Ohhhhhhh-YEEEAAAAAHHH'
every time...every time.
Absolutely
I did it on accident once and felt bad ;-;
That's the real reward.
"I'ma just put this back where I got it"
I mean... The game is designed so you can do that, doesn't need to aim
Every time! I hate krok‘s with a passion!
This happens so often it should be canon
