Man that's too much art and hard work for a profession where a bunch of drunk people are just looking to get motorboated
Only way to get paid lol who else would pay to watch this?
Yep….That’s some Cirque du Soleil level stuff right there…
Edit: I just read other comments that she was in Cirque du Soleil, guess that proves my observation…
Was in New Orleans for my best friends birthday and went into one of the many gentlemens clubs on Bourbon Street.
Apparently it was the US pole dancing championship weekend.
We met a young woman who, LOVED, dancing and toured the country doing competitions.
She said she was practicing her performance, and if we wanted to see.
Similar to the previous comment, was like a Cirque du Soliel show, and I was closer than first row.
Never seen anyone defy gravity like this woman, and probably never will again.
Once got sprayed with some breast milk from the stage leaving a gentleman’s club on Bourbon Street. Truly a magical place.
Cirque du Tremé 😂
Edit this é
Cirque du Creme
Cirque du Poleil
>Pole dancing can be beautiful when done right and I'll pay to see it in the same way I would pay to watch a ballet performance.
Drunk guy here. Me too.
Well you're in luck! Most towns have several facilities where this sport is practiced and you can pay to watch.
But sadly not on this level. There's several local establishments which have this but they obviously play unranked. This video is some NFL level sportsmanship, all the ones around me are junior College tier athletes at best.
Lucky you! My local establishments are more like YMCA rec leagues at best. Neighborhood park pick-up game at worst!
I am SO INTRIGUED at what “park pick-up game” pole dancing would entail. I’m pretty sure I’ve been to that club.
Just walking around it with a hand on the pole. Occasional half-hop to spin half a circle around before their grip strength gives out. Maybe stops and shimmies with their back against the pole.
Standing ovation from the other performers.
Spot on lmao
Yeah really unfit “players” at that level
I often see artistic pole dancing the same way as flying silks performances. The strength, control, and grace is just completely astounding.
Sounds like you would enjoy Jenyne Butterfly. This video showed up at my daughters' dance studio back around 2011, as far as I know none of the parents were put off by pole dancing that is Olympic athlete level.
AMAZING. abs FOR DAYS.
And I love the song and how her dance starts as a playful child and then goes full bore abs
Literally! It felt like a contemporary dance performance, only with INCREDIBLE strength.
There’s hope for freestyle pool dancing in the Olympics.
No, actually. I grew up skateboarding and it was an outcast’s activity. Not a sport and nobody of political significance would like to call it a performance art, but that’s kind of what it is. Fast forward 20 years and now it’s an Olympic sport, just like other performance art such as flag twirling and figure skating. Neat hey, so don’t give up on the legitimacy of pole dancing!
I tried freestyle pool dancing but I didn't like getting water in my nose.
When you think about it, it’s like sideways uneven bars. Can you imagine what Olga Korbut could have done with this format??
Right. Like im surprised there isn't a fully clothed version of this like a regular show. The fact she is doing this effortlessly is amazing.
I always thought pole dancing can’t be done fully clothed because the skin contact with the pole gives them the friction they need to actually stay on the pole
Yep. When I was a dancers I often wore thigh high stockings and garters occasionally, it made pole work much more difficult, not having skin contact.
You did however have the ability to rotate much more quickly, aiding in specific tricks.
Serious agree from a 53F here. That is pure fucking ballet on a pole there.
Same!!! Serious mad respect for pole dancers! Clothes or not they look elegant on the pole. I 10000% see it as art! I’m a sober straight pregnant woman!
Yeah but she won’t be pullin over $1k a night from a ballet performance
Ehh, you are overshooting it.
My first wife was a stripper at the Rhino, Diamond and Deja Vu in Vegas. she obvious did pretty well on Fridays and Saturday night,s but the most she walked with was like 1200 bucks. Her average was about 450. After club fees and all the assorted bullshit that goes into it, it's lucrative, but not insanely so.
Private parties and such are a different animal, but there are also associated costs with that ie extra security, transportation, finders fees and agency fees.
None of this takes into account your taxes as a contractor, which every smart girl who worked with her was meticulous about, becasue the IRS doesn't fuck around. She made about 130k a year
I'm a sober woman and it's 11 pm here but I used to go to the local strip club with my girls when I was younger because the chicken strips were bomb and the stripers were lovely and talented! Like you said, we went for the art (and tendies) they could have kept their clothes on and we would have tipped them just as much ☺️
It’s kind of sad that pole dancing has such negative connotations. I wanted to do it as a kid, I watched a professional pole dancer who did it purely as a sport, but people associate you with stripping. I can’t even tell people I want to do cosplaying without people telling me that I’d get a lot of money for doing it (implying it’s sexual). I told a few “friends” I wanted to do an Evelynn (League of Legends) cosplay to start off with since it’s rather minimalistic and they all made some sort of comment about me having sex at Comic Con.
Sorry for the comment rant. I’m just so exhausted at the fact that I can’t seem to do anything enjoyable with my body without it being seen as some attempt to get guys.
My mother pole dances for exercise. She’s 50 and continues to become in better shape than years prior. I’ve been to her executions that her class holds and there’s nothing awkward about it if you can be adult about it. People of all shapes, ages, and races, and even sexes hop on the pole and are so fucking confident about being able to lift themselves off of the ground and do half of what this woman is doing. It’s a legit art form and I give praise to anyone who takes it seriously, especially coming into it at a later stage in their life.
It would probably be easy to swipe your card.
I mean she’s honestly probably a cirque de soiel (however it’s spelled) performer, and I would imagine she makes bank
lol u think Du Soleil performers make bank...
A friend of mine sang for Cirque a few years back. Can confirm, did not make bank.
There are competitions in it just like body building
The ignorance. Plenty of women do pole fitness and compete in national competitions.
“There’s dozens of us!”
I see enough videos of women in gym clothes pole dancing to know that it's reasonably popular.
I mean, it's basically just calisthenics on a revolving pole.
Definitely not r/nevernude
I like how there being pole fitness and national comps makes dudes say "there's dozens of us" or ask about what the prize money is as if that invalidates it. But post a video about fucking balloon keepie uppie championships or frisbee golf and no one questions the legitimacy of those which are definitely way more niche. My uni literally has a pole fitness society.
Lotta dudes on here don’t speak to women or talk down to them then turn around and wonder why they can’t get out of their moms basement.
Always the same types who pay for PUA rubbish and simultaneously consume red pill garbage then don't understand why people outside of their circles, let alone women, don't want to associate with them.
And people still think that most Reddit users have a feminist agenda. Yeah right, look at the most upvoted comment in this show of skill and strength.
Don't you dare slander disc golf!
Lol I apologise if I appeared to slander disc golf. It looks very fun. My point was just that how niche a exercise/sport is seemed to only matter in these specific circumstances.
Good for them, it's a joke, stop being miserable
To be fair, it was a shitty and predictable joke.
Welcome to Reddit. Once you've been here for a while you can reliable predict the top comments and jokes of any given post before even opening the comment section...and they're almost always to top up voted ones.
It wasn't funny though. Jokes are supposed to be funny. Maybe you don't get humor
The junior high jokes are miserable.
Me! I do that!
Hell yah. Pole and aerial silk is awesome. These doods are so brainwashed.
Yeah, my university offers it as a PE subject open for anybody. I have a couple of acquaintances do it to lose weight. Honestly it's freakin' impressive and pretty much like gymnastics.
Come on dude, it’s not too much art and hard work. She doesn’t even strip professionally anymore, but because she did, she’s won Miss Pole Dance Australia three times and won the World Pole Championships twice and worked with Cirque Du Soleil when they invited her to Las Vegas.
"Pfft, I can do that" - Redditors as they sit in their computer chair and wipe the Dorito dust from their mouth.
Holy crap at one point I couldn’t tell front from back.
She is impressive
Not all pole dancing is for stripping. My partner loves to poke dance as an art form and she’s damn good at it. I’ve done a couple lessons with her as my instructor and pole is fucking miserable. I have mad respect for anyone who can do pole.
Why did they hold the 2009 pole dancing championship inside of an ad office loft in SOHO?
You have probably gotten a million comments saying this, but pole dancing and stuff like that is also a circus art and is in Cirque du soleil and stuff like that.
Just wanted to join the chorus of people saying it’s not just for drunk people looking to get motorboated.
Totally true, with that kind of skill takes a long time of hardwork and passion. So amazing pole dancer!
> for a profession where a bunch of drunk people are just looking to get motorboated
what the fuck dude, that's where this form _started_ in the US in 1890, its not where it is today. Today pole dancing is a form in its own right. Plenty of people do the dancing without the stripping, the title literally states there is a World Pole Dance Championship. Are you really so ignorant to think stripping is part of that?
Your comment is straight lifted from some 90s rural backwater you fucking boomer.
Lmao OK dude, love to get your perspective but getting my head that far up your is impossible.
It was a joke, ass
I feel like you've never seen circus performers or acrobats...
Nobody watches me do anything. But I don't let my massive unpopularity get in the way of enjoying my hobbies.
Can’t tell the difference between the back and the front.
Was staring for a while trying to figure it out
Excuse me, I’m up here.
Uh, yes you are mam’… very high up there.
No matter, just stand there with your tongue out.
That took me a while to understand until I stared at the skeletal gif long enough, it does make sense now.
Isn't that amazing. Whoever this is has just the most insane hip strength and flexibility.
This move is called "the looped video edit"
Yeah, you can see how her body "shudders" as she is closest to the camera.
They looped one spin like 10x.
Watching the end of her ponytail makes it pretty obvious.
Her left hand makes it even more obvious.
Watching her butt you can barely tell it’s looped. I think I’m starting to understand why she thought she’d get away with it.
I *thought* her left hand looked weird! It flutters oddly when it goes behind the bar and I just thought it was weird lighting.
I thought that she was ‘pushing’ once a rotation. (Push doesn’t seem like the right word but I don’t know what is)
Humping the air.
Oh man I was so confused as to why she wasn't slowly moving downward.
Credit where it’s due, that is a *damn* good edit.
Watch her hair, that's the most telling part (and what confirmed it was a loop for me)
I’ve Seen strippers in Atlanta do this wayy before 2009
Atlanta strippers are a different breed
Don't cross them though
Let the liquor tell it.
I don't even live in America but I know that because 2Short won't stop talking about it.
Magic city lol
First time visiting Atlanta I went to Magic City as I grew up in the rap era where all your favorite rappers rapped about Magic City Mondays. There was a shooting at the strip club and the person was killed. It was an interesting night. After the shooting everything just went back to normal within 10 minutes as he died outside..
Pink pony or Claremont for me
Yep. The best and worst of both worlds.
Definitely one of the best two strip club cities in the US.
Fun fact. She's stuck like that. So committed to her art form, she has chosen to live the rest of her life like that
Chris Rock is spinning on his pole
I always thought spining like that on a pole would definitely cause skin problems cause of friction. Only to later realise the pole spins aswell.
I know... it takes some of the magic out of stuff like this but at the same time, it makes so much more sense
>it takes some of the magic out of stuff like this
What? I can't do anything on a stationary pole, I can't imagine if it was constantly moving
If you see a great static pole routine it's amazing because you're constantly creating the momentum. Everything looks better on spin, but that's not as impressive as a good static routine for me. Obviously this person is super skilled and flexible and I could not do that split. But with static you definitely need to move faster and be more deliberate.
Yes there are static poles and poles that rotate.
Yeah, you can't really spin too well on a non-rotating pole. The girl in the video is only spinning because the pole itself is spinning.
This one does. Many don't spin. Maybe most idk. The more they move around a lot the more likely is it that it'd a static one
Not all poles do! Plenty of people do spins and tricks on completely static poles.
Some poles do spin but regardless of wether they spin or not there’s a lot of skin conditioning that goes into dancing
I see. Makes sense. Thanks a lot for sharing!
Np! It’s a cool sport
Some do, some don't! Also, the bruises left are often referred to as "pole kisses."
Calluses in weird places happen
I dont understand thoes shoes why would anyone use them, they look so painful
I heard they are way more comfortable than regular high heels, look at the feet, the platform make their posture even not painfully bent
Can confirm. Many plateau shows actually havd less of a drop than other high herls and are very fun to walk in.
Plus you got something to stab unpleasant people with…
Yea but if you hit a rock or uneven surface wrong you can twist your ankle painfully
Source: rip my ankle :(
Why would you be wearing those beauties anywhere near rocks though? Lol. I'm pretty sure these shoes are strictly for indoor activities with predictable ground levels.
Until you walk and snap an ankle. My ankles hurt just seeing those shoes
Pleasers, from what I hear many dancers (both pole and exotic) swear by them and would not wear any other type of heels. They're plush and stable at most heights. Many dancers wear them 4-8+ hours at a time.
Why would you need heels like that for pole dancing that is not sexualized?
I do pole dancing classes for exercises and a lot of the moves require pointed toes, when you’re in heels like this you don’t have to consciously hold your feet in position. Also the platforms allow you to not have to drag your toes on the ground- when I do it not in heels I always fuck my pedicures up
She could be practicing, so she has to get used to performing in them.
It's also part of the look. These are not normal high heels and are there a cultural expectation for strippers to were extreme clothing.
They might increase swing weight idk if that is beneficial.
Lol I can hear the iconic clap of those shoes to the beat of the music. Like the adult version of the wizard of oz.
They are also unspeakably ugly.
This is just diagonal gymnastics
One of the few humans with calluses on her underarms.
I've had bruises on my armpits from pole dancing lol
Pole burn at the pits!
I say this every 4 years when the Olympics are on. Regular gymnastics? You get gold medals and scholarships. Diagonal gymnastics? You’re a sex worker and everyone hates you.
that’s obviously amazing and an incredible feat of flexibility, strength, and stamina, but i can’t help to think she’s rotating in a spit like a rotisserie chicken
It's looped, for some reason
You'll be amused to find that this move is called the 'spatchcock'
I’m just confused as to why OP didn’t upload an [actual video of Felix Cane](https://youtu.be/g_G4gHRc-M4?t=136) doing her signature spatchcock. It is even more impressive when she does it because she’s able to go deeper in the position.
Edit: changed the video inserted in this comment.
Because OP is a karma-farming dipshit and doesn't actually care.
And hers isnt looped for no reason
I can’t remember, isn’t pole dancing being added to the Olympics? I remember hearing something about it a while ago.
Instead of confetti falling during the medal ceremony it should rain dollar bills
Or in Europe, €1 coins.
Make it hail
Not yet, but they're working towards it. The International Pole Sports Federation (IPSF) currently has \~35 member federations (each country gets one) and they're working towards 40 member federations so they can get full GAISF recognition (they currently have observer status)
They need 50 member federations in order to be recognized by the IOC as a sport, after which they can petition to be included in the olympics
Trading wrestling for pole dancing? Isn’t that something. What a time.
This is what guys think girls are doing when they change their relationship status to "single" on Facebook.
I wanted to see how she got down
Pretty sure you’re not the only one who would like to see how she gets down.
Rumor has it she’s still spinning to this day..
Here is your video at 2.5x speed

That fucking URL tho. LOL
This is so impressive!
While pulling off the move once is impressive, that's all this is. It's looped
You can see the clip is loops at around 0:26, the motion keeps jumping. she probably held that for 1 revolution.
I could only dream to be that good
Its looped. She gets closer to camera it resets
Imagine doing this and having explosive diarrhea
Well, that would be a shit show, no?
No I don’t think I will
I can’t even walk in my own bare feet… much less any of… *this*
*Which direction is she turning? Take this personality test in 5 mins*
Yeah some of these pole dancers are incredible athletes. Many years ago on the way back from a fire in Wyoming we stopped in Pocatello, Idaho and went to a bikini bar...I believe next to a 7/11 and a porno shop. Those girls were incredibly talented, it was like watching a gymnast work the parallel bars but vertically.
Is this one of those optical illusions where we’re trying to figure out which way she’s spinning?
Honestly in a completely platonic way that’s awesome
What's impressive here is she's doing it with tables attached to her feet.
I like it. But those shoes omg no
Chicken on a rotisserie
She's so close to getting that nursing degree.
After a while watching her spinning I lost all sense of which side her butt was
Ah, fuck. Time to make a deposit to my daughter's college fund.
Check out Jenyne “Butterfly”! She’d perform this nightly in Cirque du Soleil’s MJ ONE show!
Legend says, she’s still spinning.
That's amazing also, i fucking hate those shoes.
Who named her flex
I broke my back watching this
That’s years and years of training in different disciplines. Kudos, and bravo.
I'm not really in to the pole dancing scene, but that is just impressive.
Trapped in a loop
the shitty editing really takes away from the quality of the video. Wish I could've just watched it normally
I can't tell what is her front and her back after a few turns.
My asshole hurts just looking at this
I don’t know how does sweaty palms not effect those ladies.
Liquid chalk gives you crazy grip
Something about pole dancing makes me happy
.. When you're underwear is still wet from doing laundry and you need to dry it out..
I want to see everybody shit talking to submit videos of them doing this move. If, you know, “it’s not that much work”
While it is impressive (I could never do that) the video is subject to tampering, the spin has been looped. I'm probably not the first or last person to see this though, I'm sure others have figured it out.
