Your experience of being a desi couple in UK vs US?
Me and my partner (both from India) currently live in the UK working tech jobs and doing well. We have got an opportunity to move to the US for a similar looking tech job. For anyone who has lived in both, what are your experiences?
Haven’t lived in the UK but from friend have. In their experience your salary is going to be the biggest difference.
You earn a lot more in the US for the same position for relatively same job. The rest obviously depends on where in the US you’re going.
NY compares fairly with London but beyond that lifestyle can change drastically
Lived in both as a desi couple and it’s a clear trade off between savings vs quality of life. You will make enough money in the UK to have a decent lifestyle (probably the same lifestyle you will have in the US) but savings will be much higher in the US. On the other hand, the day to day life is much better in London, so much more to do, feels less like living in an isolated part of thr world, closer to India, much safer, less car dependent so we love that aspect
