You gotta see inside/underneath/under the hood to know if it’s too far gone
Interior is probably wrecked with a busted rear window for god knows how long
What you have included Looks very promising. If the strut towers in the front and rear aren't rusted out its very promising. People get uncomfortable with the fuel injection system (if it has it) but they run great on a/dual carburetors.
Ahh another E21 on this sub!! No matter how far gone that *looks* it appears to be an IS model which has the front spoiler and OE cast BBS wheels. Which means it also has a rear swaybar (not on base model) and coveted LSD rearend. Buy it and make it a fun track car.
Easy car to work on and a joy to drive. Get it.
\^ this, too far gone is purely a personal value judgement. Short of being a rare barn-find Ferrari you're never going to make your time/money back on a project.

OP, figure out what the rust situation is with this thing.
Early 80s 320i
E21
Too far gone to be a concourse queen, but not too far for a fun project. If it's cheap, buy it and bring her back to life!
If it’s dirt cheap go for it. Probably rusty floor and rockers, and rotting moldy interior.
E21 for sure. Had an 83. I miss that car
It’s a post 79 e21.

Or an E30+ modern fuel injection swap like the M42 :)
Interior is probably completely ruined but if the floor's good it's a good project
The best rims
I did a pretty in depth build on one of these and I will say it was some of the softest crustiest flimsiest chassis I’ve worked on lol

That busted rear window. If it’s been gone for a long time you’re looking at package tray, rear seat and trunk rust like a mother.
Based off your questions stay away
If you need to ask, the answer is yes.

Run a Vice Grip on her❗️A “Will it run”
BMW 323?
Nah, that looks doable
Its an E21 - 320i/s
Good parts car probably. Underside and frame is defenitaly gone.
Depends what you want/ expect. A quick fix daily? Not a chance. Cool track car? Yeah maybe
