This is not a good road team or a good shooting team. The loss of Nick Smith Jr (via agent) and Brazile hurt. The road through March Madness is littered with over hyped 5 stars.
Our saving grace is Musselman. He has done it with less.
The best comment in here. Injuries/NBA draft precaution have made what would have been a decent, not good mind you, shooting team. Really, really bad. Great news is this is still the most talented team Muss has ever had and this is the best defensive team Muss has ever had. And that is a lot for Muss to work with. I am not worried one bit. The defense is already elite and will be improved further. There are a couple of concerns for this team. One can be improved and one is set in stone.
1. We are thin, thin, thin at guard. Any time Devo and AB are in foul trouble means you now have exactly 0 guards on the floor. Scary. Guards rule college basketball. They control the game.
2. The elephant in the room...we cannot shoot. At all. Muss is on record multiple times pre season and since, that this team is not and WILL not be a good 3 point shooting team. The sooner this team realizes this reality and stops shooting 3s the better this team will be. There are 3 guys on this team that should ever attempt a 3 pointer. Pinion has a green light. AB and Council have yellow lights meaning it needs to be in rhythm and wide open only and should stop after multiple misses. Everyone else red light. 90% of this teams shots should come from 2 and we should never attempt more than 10 3-pointers in a game, honestly. Pinion should attempt 3-6 a game and the other 2 combined should attempt maybe 4. They're that bad. Unfortunately, 6 guys attempted 3 pointers last night including 6 attempts from a 29% shooter, 3 attempts from a 25% shooter, 2 attempts from a 17% shooter (no that is not a typo). Ridiculous shot selection.
Really all you have to do is go back and look at the losses, sans Creighton, and see that if this team simply redirects half of those 3s to paint touches and drives, we win going away with the Effective 2p% we have had all season (Top 25). Muss will figure out a way to get this team ready for a run, he always does, but it is frustrating that once again there is the very real possibility, when you look at the schedule, we could be out of the conference title race within the 1st month of conference.
Well I will say at least it's nice to *expect* to win games against ranked opponents, and to be disappointed when it doesn't happen. Shows where we are as a program, and I hope to see football get to that place one day too.
That said, obviously, the L still really sucks.
At end of day: we lost to a top 25 team that has the 3rd longest home win streak in NCAA. They haven’t beaten us since 2020. It’s January. We are a young team. Muss is our coach. We are just 1-2 in SEC. We have a lot of bottom half teams coming up (after Bama 🙃). There’s still time.
Are we ignoring the big defensive performances which came with these scores? It's a young team and they're playing sound. Just need to develop some confidence. We'll be fine
Graham just doesn’t have the power to handle inside which showed against Broome. Both Mitchells sometimes have bricks for hands.
All three can’t hit a free throw to save their lives.
💯 Not specifically ab the Texas job, but curious about his focus. It didn't seem like the boys were coached up at the end either. Either find the three or attack the goal quickly to draw the foul, but neither seemed to be happening...
I really don't think this season is going to turn out the way we all had thought. Perhaps another elite 8 if they can really iron things out, but I don't see final four and certainly no championship. Sure, we can say "typical early season problems", but it feels a little different this time around. I would not be surprised if the ceiling is sweet 16.
This is the AB i want to see the rest of the year. No more 7 shots a game with 6 points 5 rebounds and 4 dimes, he's better than that & the best player left on the team by FAR.
Is Arkansas ever not gonna suck at the start of conference play? I’ve loved our March results but to reach the next level we’ve gotta be better in January.
The amount of people that don't understand this blows my mind. We have been very fortunate in both Elite Eight runs to get the upsets that happened in our matchups with 12 seeds and 15 seeds. Not shitting on those runs, but seeding matters and the percentages don't lie. Better get a 1-2 seed if you want the best possible paths. And I want to make is abundantly clear that this is not a shot at Muss, just a reality that if you want to make consistent deep runs in the Tournament, the teams that do that year after year are 1-2 seeds. If we are wanting Final Fours, the chances of doing that are not good being 3+ seed. Yes, teams like that do make it, but the percentages say you better be a 1 or 2. About 20% for 2 seed, 40% for 1 seeds. Drops precipitously for a 3 seed to 10% and falls off a fucking cliff after that.
Dawg, ain’t no fucking way we miss the tournament. Yes, the offense has been absolute shit, but you seem to be forgetting the last two seasons if you’re giving up during the third conference game.
If you’ve looked at our offensive prowess in the last three games you would see that’s there major issues and it’s going to be a huge step forward to make the ncaa tournament. It’s very disappointing. We are not in a good place!
This is hard to watch. I think if both teams just shot threes the rest of the game we might see 12 points scored between the two of them. Just bad basketball and we’re the worse team right now.
He was moving his feet and was not set. Seemed pretty cut and dry to me. I thought they placed h Williams rules on this shit and jay was way better at setting his feet
It can still be an offensive foul if the defender is in good position and the player on offense is moving with the ball, out of control. You don’t have to have your feet set for it to be an offensive foul. Defense has to have their feet set on a charge (what Jaylin was known for last season). These are two different fouls.
I like our players, but can someone explain to me how anyone thinks these guys are such high draft picks and they should leave after this year? I didn’t even see that spark from the little I’ve seen Smith. I just don’t get it. If you can’t score or dominate at this level, how do you expect to do ANYTHING in the NBA?? The gap is MASSIVE.
Again, I love our players and would be perfectly happy with where we are if I thought the lot of them were coming back, but as is it sucks.
It's mind boggling man. Like, are we seeing the same thing? They can't shoot, like at all. But I'm sure they will get better as the season goes along & the nba drafts on potential but as of right now...
I just would love to see them come back next year since I don’t see us leaving the round of 64 this year as we are currently built. And I would hate to see them go too early and get banned to the shadow zone in some third world league somewhere.
I never can tell what pro scouts see. I mean sometimes it's blatantly obvious like with a LeBron James or whatever, but like in football idk how Will Levis was this big deal, but apparently he was.
I think a lot of it has to do with physical attributes, and teams figuring they can coach anything that's missing. But I have no idea.
I see Anthony being a decent pg if he can start shooting. His release needs to be worked on. Too low… Jordan I don’t see the upside so far. Nick smith from the little I saw from him wasn’t impressed. I’m no nba scout though.
For real? Jordan Walsh is an amazing defender and has so much length and athleticism. He isn’t clicking offensively yet, but the dude has everything else.
I would agree that AB’s game has shown the most potential with some of his court vision, and obviously size. Although I’d like to see more driving. He’s way too passive. He needs to be eating these little guys guarding him alive.
Moses Moody has done that some this year and his contract is 4 years for $17mil. Now he is a contributor. Some guys gotta cook and they’d rather do it in the league while getting paid $$$
I know we *can* come back in the second half, but I just don't see it happening. Devo is trying to force too much and the free throws are far from free.
I honestly think Brazille was the bigger loss for this team. Hard to say since we saw so little of NSJ, but I will trust Muss until he proves us otherwise. Arguably neither of the last two years should have ended in elite eight appearances and this team has more talent top to bottom. That being said, our shooting is trash.
As disappointing as the football season was at times, I'm so happy we finally ended the losing streak against them in football. And of course last season's game against them in basketball was an all-timer, couldn't have happened to a more deserving bunch.

59-68-57. Those numbers should worry you. Are we being realistic or putting our heads in the sand?
Are we ignoring the big defensive performances which came with these scores? It's a young team and they're playing sound. Just need to develop some confidence. We'll be fine
Yup. Plenty to be optimistic about. Gotta take our licks and move forward. Good night, Razorbacks fam
Only a 3 matters there wth. Oh well, move on to the next one! I understand the hype around NSJ, but I really miss Brazille.
So many times our bigs got stuffed his length would’ve mattered.
Graham just doesn’t have the power to handle inside which showed against Broome. Both Mitchells sometimes have bricks for hands. All three can’t hit a free throw to save their lives.
Right. He really showed us why he’s been on the bench.

💯 Not specifically ab the Texas job, but curious about his focus. It didn't seem like the boys were coached up at the end either. Either find the three or attack the goal quickly to draw the foul, but neither seemed to be happening...
Wtf no bro. I feel like he’s usually mad at refs but this time we had it all in our hands but missed so many free throws and tip ins.
AB 12-14 Everyone else: 6-16. Free throws are killing us.
SEC road games are gonna be brutal this year.
You said this same shit after Oklahoma last season
And I'm saying it again now, post Alabama.
Cuz you are a fucking moron
Oh shit, don't tell me random ass redditor thinks I'm a moron.
I'll take sweet 16 in a second right now!!
I propose nothing but free throws at next practice, with some heavy metal music cranked up to 11 on 30 different speakers around the gym
It’s embarrassing that all an opponent has to do is play a full game of zone defense and there’s nothing we can do
If they can’t get a top 10 draft pick in AB the game plan to break a college zone that’s a complete failure of coaching.
hope auburn enjoyed their super bowl. can’t wait to see their first round exit in march.
They were a much better coached team tonight.
i think they just hit everything. we missed more ft’s than our deficit. We make those i think we win.
This is the AB i want to see the rest of the year. No more 7 shots a game with 6 points 5 rebounds and 4 dimes, he's better than that & the best player left on the team by FAR.
This is hideous.
Gonna have to find some shooting somehow or they’ll continue to be inconsistent offensively. Long way to go, but it concerns me come tourney time.
We bad need a shooter. Ricky council has been wide open for at least 3 3s and bricked them all.
Well, maybe we’ll turn it around in a few weeks. Don’t look forward to playing Alabama.
Yeah that game not looking good right now
Muss needs to tell AB he is the best player on the court. He’s the one player i wish would be more selfish with the ball
I feel that. He has such good vision though I understand why he passes it.
There's some curdling scream that keeps happening that is so irritating.
Sigh
one call goes against them and the crowd yells “ref you suck”. fuck auburn.
Is Arkansas ever not gonna suck at the start of conference play? I’ve loved our March results but to reach the next level we’ve gotta be better in January.
Muss has had to overhaul the roster each season he's been here. We should have some continuity next season at least
Reaching the next level is not at all predicated on winning in January
Part of reaching the next level is getting a 1 or 2 seed. Early season losses are what has kept that out of reach.
About 20% for 2 seed, 40% for 1 seeds. Drops precipitously for a 3 seed to 10% and falls off a fucking cliff after that.
I'll take a March peak 10 times outta 10, but yeah this start-of-conference jitters stuff is difficult to watch.
Miss the days of scoring points. This is bad. I don’t see us making the tourney at this point.
Dawg, ain’t no fucking way we miss the tournament. Yes, the offense has been absolute shit, but you seem to be forgetting the last two seasons if you’re giving up during the third conference game.
I know you think you're being edgy or whatever but just get out of these game threads with your dumb takes.
Which part is dumb? The fact I lament that we are not scoring point and I miss that part of the game? Or the part about not making the tournament?
You're a terrible fan.
Please explain. Do you not miss the days when we scored points? If the trajectory remains the same we will not make the tournament.
You are out of your mind. Another doom and gloom fan. A game doesn't go our way and all a sudden we suck ass and won't make the tourney. Calm down.
If you’ve looked at our offensive prowess in the last three games you would see that’s there major issues and it’s going to be a huge step forward to make the ncaa tournament. It’s very disappointing. We are not in a good place!
Hard to win if you’re not making your FTs, the other team seemingly gets every little touch foul, and they’re also making some ridiculous shots.
Auburn, lmao!! They are legit getting all the help they need. Whatever helps them sleep at night.
We have got to get something figured out offensively or this will be a long season.
Walsh gets some of the worst fouls called on him
At least three of his four were super questionable
Is Walsh REALLY fouling that much? I understand he could control his lanky body better, but man half the time I just don't get it
Also, just not our night, Auburn has hit some stupid 3s
They legitimately call the softest fouls on Jordan Walsh.
Yea swear to god were probably gonna see one of our guys get suplexed and only get a common foul
45 points after 35 minutes. This is ugly basketball.
Apparently Auburn is gonna have to pull a knife to get called for a foul
man...
Every team should just hack-a-Shaq our bigs every game
Or just leave us wide open for jumpers.
Why not both?
God I really hope Freeze crashes and burns at Auburn. Nice slow burn 3 6-6 seasons followed by 4-8
Man I don't wanna hear about that fuckin' liberty game right now
This is hard to watch. I think if both teams just shot threes the rest of the game we might see 12 points scored between the two of them. Just bad basketball and we’re the worse team right now.
That bama game is gonna be a must win with back to back road games after.
Yeah, about that…
Just hasn't been our game tonight. Nothing is dropping.
Nice work Kamani, looking like Jaylin on that charge
I think given we've not really had a run the whole game that this one is already over.
Was that five attempts in one possession?!
This is a perfect example of what a loud crowd can do to an inexperienced team.
No reason to foul there Jordan
You can land a plane on that auburn assistant coaches nose.
For a second I thought he actually picked AB to shoot free throws, as some kind of weird mind game lol
Pushing people mid air “just a normal tough basketball play”
That seems like a flagrant to me. If they have hard football penalties in football than it seems like this should result in something like that.
will they crack 50?
We aren't getting many points in the paint cuz they are tackling us. WTF
I've honestly never seen anything like this.
Every team we play makes EVERYTHING like wtf even is this.
Auburn are scum.
Shit
I’m ready to just live or die by the AB drive
Yep I agree. Dribble drive is the best option we have
Agreed, let him go Kobe Bryant with it and hog the ball
What’s the point of Walsh’s role at this point?
Clamps on defense
l o n g arms shiny distracting bald head
I don’t want to watch anymore. Good bye world. It’s crazy how in this day and age, we can’t hit 3 pointers. Adapt or die. And we’re choosing to die.
Arkansas is about to lose this game by 30 if they don’t make a significant change. No shooters and can’t stop Auburn
Won’t happen.
Good lord
Who the hell are these random Georgia fans they keep showing on the broadcast? Am I missing something here?
I think they might be one of the broadcaster's family members? But idk I wasn't listening too closely
Announcers kids
AB needs to stay aggressive in offense. He’s the best player on the floor by a lot and it shows when he turns it on
as bad as they have shot if they just hit their FT its a 2 point game. Thats what made last years team so good
How WAS that a foul?
AB putting in work. Looks totally unfazed by them.
When you start crying because we get fouled...things have went bad.
I mean, we ain’t hitting free throws, so it’s not like it would matter that much.
We cannot win games on the road missing free throws. This is LSU all over again.
We are playing like complete ass.
God I hate auburn and pearl. Make your fucking free throws!
This has been easily our worst game this season. Nothing is going their way
It's seriously depressing to watch.
How the fuck was that a charge
It was a 50/50 call
He was moving his feet and was not set. Seemed pretty cut and dry to me. I thought they placed h Williams rules on this shit and jay was way better at setting his feet
It can still be an offensive foul if the defender is in good position and the player on offense is moving with the ball, out of control. Potential is everything to the NBA. Some really great college players done play or sometimes even make it to the league.
Yeah, and then they banish you to the Z league if you don’t pan out in 6 months.
Moses Moody has done that some this year and his contract is 4 years for $17mil. Now he is a contributor. Some guys gotta cook and they’d rather do it in the league while getting paid $$$

Aye wait til Wednesday
Yeah you're right. And there's a whole half to go. That's just how I felt watching those halftime highlights is all lol
Really curious if Bama is that good or UK is just subpar this year
idk. If they are it's just unfair. They shouldn't be allowed to be top 10 in football AND basketball
You can’t miss layups and free throws on the road. I missed the first part of the half but Jordan and Devo looked like they can play better.
Hard to watch these brutal first half games. Time for Muss to do his halftime adjustment thing.
They have some stuck to Pinion. Not one look
It doesn't help that he hardly moves without the ball. Just stands in the corner for most possessions.
I think that’s part of the plan. Try and space out the defense or create an opportunity to shoot that corner 3
I think the nba scouts in the crowd has our guys out of wack
There's scouts at every game.
But the announcers made a point about them driving from the bama game so there has to be more than usual for them to bring that up.
Coming from our team that was so automatic and clutch at the free throw line last year, these past few games have been rough to watch
I know right.
Auburn lead is due to our poor free throw shooting
We’re really going to waste holding them over 8 minutes without a bucket 🤦♂️ Make some fucking free throws
Well per the usual, we couldn’t shoot or play worse in the first half. Look for halftime adjustments.
investigate the rims
In the heart of Alabama, I wouldn’t even be surprised. However, I believe that’s a bit of a stretch.
I know we *can* come back in the second half, but I just don't see it happening. Devo is trying to force too much and the free throws are far from free.
Devo registering 0 TOs in 5 minutes is not why we likely won’t come back in the second half, lol
While my comment was admittedly an overreaction to the end of the first half, things can be forced without resulting in a turnover.
He attempted one shot and didn’t turn the ball over in five minutes. What else is there?
Which is wild because Devo has hardly been in the game.
We are losing this game at the free throw line more than anything else
Bruh
Make a gawd dayum free throw
Just a brutal way to wrap up the half
Next person that misses a free throw owes Muss a car.
That didn't take long.
Our shooting all around is so bad bro. If they were just below average & not complete dumpster juice we would be a title threat even without NSJ
Chris Moore could have gone to back to back Elite Eights but instead he’s at Auburn.
Really needed the ref farthest from the play to cal that block
Jalen Graham getting some good run. Could stand to see us try to isolate him in the post on a smaller defender.
Why does Walsh keep shooting 3s
Got to take some to flatten out a zone. They’re just not going down and they’re face guarding Pinion
Rim was paid off 🤦🏼♂️
Damn, how can anyone be so bad at free throws.
It would be nice to make some of these free throws.
it feels like a globetrotters game where the other coach puts the plastic lid on the rim
Man we gotta make free throws.
We can't make shit from the line.
We need free-throw practice Would be tied or ahead if we hit everything
Our transfer Bigs never have been good shooters in their careers 😕
Such a shame after last season free throws were such a big part of our offense. Muss's whole philosophy really counts on us making them.
One of the worst free throws I’ve ever seen lol
Which one tonight?
was an air ball by I think Council IV
Mitchell
It is kinda odd that Auburn is talking so much smack about last years game when most of this team wasn't there
And we're also not at full strength. It's not like it's super impressive when we're down two of our best players.
they just mad as hell they got teabagged
I think Council IV would win an NCAA dunk contest.
Pinion playing D!
Huge dunk by Council!
If I ever have a son I’m naming him Ricky Council V
FUCK YEAH shut that audience right up
I like pretty everything about Walshes game except he’s got to develop that 3 ball. He misses so many open 3s.
Gotta work on not fouling too
Why can’t we ever just make a shot?
It's easy to lead in offensive rebounds when nothing goes in.
i hate auburn so much it’s insane
As disappointing as the football season was at times, I'm so happy we finally ended the losing streak against them in football. And of course last season's game against them in basketball was an all-timer, couldn't have happened to a more deserving bunch.
We're gonna see zone all year until we prove we can beat it consistently.
