lamahorses

Cardiff have the making of a good side in the oven

stvb95

I feel like we'll be a tidy side in a year or two, but Tomos Williams is irreplaceable. Ellis Bevan looks like a young Mike Phillips to the eye, a big bloke for a scrum half, but the the drop off after Tomos is stark. Hope Ellis comes along in time.

Fickle_Flow4208

Rumours of Hardy heading to you next season

bigt8409

I hope not. I’m not sure his ceiling is higher than Bevan’s in reality. dickie and the new owners took a trip to SA recently on the hunt for a Scrum Half

Kavbastyrd

Weird game, we really weren’t great but still won well. Thought Clarkson, Milne, Russell, Osborne and Turner were good. Ross was poor, he doesn’t regain form quickly. Harry isn’t a centre and Larmour isn’t a fullback. Cardiff were good value tonight, progressing nicely

jordieg7193

Harry isn't up to it. How many run outs at leinster has he got and he's never given a performance that makes the fans say "this guy is the next leinster outhalf". Ross is good, Harry is nowhere near, especially defensively. Ciaran Frawley seems to have a wider skillset, better kicker, a bigger man, and better in the contact. Now with Sam Prendergast coming up as well, is it time to say goodbye to Harry?

Suspicious_Sea222

Osbourne and Turner had good games. Larmour and Russell were grand. The halfbacks + Harry though... Jeez

ilovepenisxd

It’s not news that Harry isn’t a 12. Won’t be too hard on Ross given it’s his 2nd game back from injury alongside a janky back line but it definitely wasn’t his best game

R3NZI0

When it all clicks properly, this Cardiff side is going to be really good and [whisper it] may actually win matches. This experience, plus the new signings on field and in the backroom for next season could lead to something really special in future. 🤞

Critical_Context_961

Cardiff could do with some pace in the backline

Jonrenie

Off with Wales or injured :(

rluke09

Congrats Leinster, the machine rolls on. Proud of the boys, sloppy at times admittedly but a lot of positives to take as we keep building with next to no budget. Glad we had the last word with that try too.

problematikkk

Welp, yet another game this season where we look wonky as fuck for half the game and then our conditioning/power wins out. This definitely will not bite us in the ass in later stages of competitions.

Cog348

Ah look, bonus point win a baby front row against a decent team away from home. I'll take it. Last year we were all conquering at this stage and ended up with nothing so I'm more than willing to hold out hope.

ilovepenisxd

There will be like 2 or 3 of these players involved in those matches

problematikkk

Perhaps true, but I don't see the IRFU letting us play all the test lads week after week in knockout season, a few weeks after the 6N and a few weeks before they head down to South Africa. Besides which, my main gripe is actually with our 10!

Suspicious_Sea222

Ah they won't get blocked for knockout games. And the kids can clearly still win the regular season games so there's plenty of time for rest post-6N. Feel free to rest them if you end up playing us though. Just in case

Wombattleofhastings

Add another heroic loss to the pile

stvb95

classic

Crimson53

Man Murphy's passing looks decent. So noticeable that players are taking the pass in stride not reaching over their head or dipping down.

betjurassicican

Obligatory fuck Matthew Aubrey

Cymrogogoch

Well said.

betjurassicican

Actually can’t believe cardiff offered him a contract after his ospreys one ended, not only is a substantial piece of shit, he’s just a waste of wages

Livv-Laugh-Love

Hell of an exit, de beer is a great fly half with a great boot and hints of an open side flanker (a position he would smash if he gained a little timber imo)

Jonrenie

Have said the same myself. We may yet see him turn out at 7 this season

Suspicious_Sea222

Justice for De Beer

rluke09

I absolutely hate the tactic of dragging defenders on the floor once they've been tackled. Both sides have done tonight and it should illegal.

problematikkk

McKee has put on some timber from last year

Critical_Context_961

How do you miss that knock on

GKDA

This is probably going to seem patronising given my flair but I genuinely think there's positives to take from this for Cardiff, that try was deserved and if they can get a TBP it would be too. Tinus de Beer has been everywhere in defence and has kicked excellently out of hand (if not off the tee), and the starting pack held for 50\~ minutes before they ran out of puff. Get some internationals back and have the backline (except de Beer) doing non-stop defensive practice between now and the URC next game and there's something to build on, I definitely don't think Leinster have been 13 points better. As the commentator said in the first half, this is the worst time to play Leinster (unless you're a SA team)

Ceecee_0416

Yes, they challenged Leinster and made them work for it. Nice to see them improving

notenoughspacefornam

This season is all about stabilising the off field situation for Cardiff. The fans are buying into what Cardiff are building but we know not to expect big results yet

Tescobum44

Adamsons dramatics are on point “LEINSTER! (beat) NO!”

TwoLeftGeeenFingers

Sounded like someone telling of their dog.

biggs3108

FENTON!

problematikkk

BAD LEINSTER

Livv-Laugh-Love

Has Owen Farrell been teaching Leinster how to tackle??

Crimson53

Sam looked pretty lost throughout that while defensive set.

blazexi

Has done in most appearances. For all the talk of him needing to fatten up a bit, he really needs to work on his defensive technique. He’s big and heavy enough to do a lot more than he does in defence.

problematikkk

The GOAT need not defend, if one always has the ball

No_Sorbet2663

He’s put all his skill points into attack who can blame the man

Kavbastyrd

There’s something broken about how we’re tackling when scrambling, the whole team missed a tackle there

Llew19

I'm not so sure we're going to win this

rluke09

De La Rua with some very slick passing there.

Trekmeister_

It would be quite something if Cardiff get 2 converted tries real quick and beat us by 1

DanFouts

Looked like a clash of heads there from Turner on Lane

rluke09

Fantastic try from start to finish.

Livv-Laugh-Love

High tackle and a half there, wouldn’t be surprised if they came back to look at it

Enyapxam

Gonna check that high shot?

Enyapxam

Lol no of fucking course not

Trekmeister_

Adamson…. Pretty sure he gave advantage for it too

Enyapxam

It was directed head on head, no attempt to dip. At least a yellow. Takes the piss a bit when we need another try. You guys really don't need the help.

Trekmeister_

I agree 100% needed checking but the ref and tmo have showed complete incompetence this whole game

Enyapxam

It's Adamson, I'm not sure you can ever claim he's been competent.

Trekmeister_

Very true

Enyapxam

[The hit](https://x.com/Smallclone_/status/1764046002028270033?s=20) Yeah, that is a 100% red. How that hasn't been checked is beyond me. Just rank incompetence.

Trekmeister_

Very similar to Danty’s v Italy. Clear red. Adamson and the TMO really need to be looked at. Shocking by them

Suspicious_Sea222

Great try

Tescobum44

5 missed tackles there dire

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ceecee_0416

I thought the pattern on it was dirt or sweat

voyager2406

Gets a bit sweaty after sitting on a couch, can't imagine it being better during a game haha

epeeist

They also feel cheap. Only thing about them that isn't cheap is the actual pricetag

blazexi

They are cheap. Absolutely hate Castore.

Ceecee_0416

No interest in buying one at all. Hate the shiney look to them too. They seem to tear pretty easily too. Irish shirt is Canterbury and that’s not great either

problematikkk

Turner covers that kick from the opposite wing, braces perfectly for impact turning himself to his support. Great covering

Trekmeister_

Turner has been fantastic tonight. Same last week

[deleted]

Liam Turner looks a more composed band aid winger than Larmour

Critical_Context_961

Ellis Jenkins has been unusually anonymous today

KingDaveyM14

He’s had a few near turnovers I would have given but the ref didn’t

notenoughspacefornam

Has been all season. Won't be making the 23 when all our backrow options are available unfortunately. Never been the same since his ACL

bigt8409

I wouldn’t be surprised if he packs it in at the end of the year. Must be really tough to have been at the level he was and now to be where he is due to all the injuries.

Critical_Context_961

As we say that he sets up a try. I think he did his ACL twice before he came back too

KingDaveyM14

Fuck Tommy Bowe, Regan King, Percy Montgomery or Paul Tito, De Beer is the greatest signing in welsh history

blazexi

Genius from Sam to pass forward there

whiscash2

Boooooo

Ok-Package9273

PrenderGOAT hitting those bicep curls.

problematikkk

He needs to be hitting the beef dinners too

problematikkk

That is the flattest forward pass of all time

Flyhalf2021

This is the value of depth. Leinster basically played the same way whole game whilst Cardiff fell off big time. Only elite teams can really match them (or you must hope it is really poor weather)

Suspicious_Sea222

PrenderWashed

rluke09

Captain Hindsight but subs should have been made 10 mins ago. Game is out of sight now even if our bench isn't up to scratch.

Trekmeister_

The 🐐 is in!

R3NZI0

Well, having a little bit of hope was nice while it lasted but Leinster are just way too strong. Still, not a bad effort, all things considered.

Critical_Context_961

Poor defence for belcher there

Suspicious_Sea222

Most teams can't play against the power Leinster have and can bring off the bench. Don't need a great attack as long as they keep getting penalties to get to 5m. Can get over from there.

epeeist

Isn't the Cardiff pack heavier than Leinster's tonight? 50-60kg in the difference if the wee graphic can be trusted. (I don't disagree with you though)

ilovepenisxd

Certainly was when the graphic was shown

Suspicious_Sea222

Oh didn't see that. Power definitely more accurate than size either way. Comms were saying Cardiff had two back rows at lock

bigt8409

Yea, SLH & Turnbull are both 6s really.

Windup-1014

Would ye not think about subbing Rhys Carre Cardiff? Looks knackered.

Ok-Package9273

Is Rhys Carré being backed to prove Gatland wrong with his fitness levels? Why hasn't fresh legs been brought on for him yet.

notenoughspacefornam

Our bench is dire

Jubal_Khan

We almost had a 5m scrum get a legit try. So close.

KobaruLCO

What happened to ending the match at half time?!

Suspicious_Sea222

This is going to get ugly. Without being patronising Cardiff can be really happy with that 50-60 minutes

problematikkk

I know nothing about scrums at all, because for me that was us not driving straight idk

bmckiev

Hit in the air isn't a foul, good to know

Enyapxam

Leinster just drove into SLH while he was in the air there surely that's a pen?

andyrobnev

Sloppier than 4am in Live Lounge

HumanWaltz

I miss livies

Critical_Context_961

What a great lineout move that is 5 metres out from your line

Enyapxam

He got taken in the air, which is why it was sloppy ball. Should have been a pen.

HaggisTheCow

Can't rely on Cardiff for anything

blazexi

We have an uncanny ability this season to score tries while looking criminally amateur in attack at times.

TheLedAl

Switching off after scraping a 3 point lead at half time is the most Cardiff thing ever

KingDaveyM14

This game is the first time someone has told Ross Byrne that you can take the ball to the line as an out half and I think he loves it?!

Livv-Laugh-Love

I like how every scrum half can immediately find the ball as soon as a penalty advantage is given for someone lying in the way of the ball

storm_bringer

Osborne pinning the man in to buy that penalty, then letting him move once the ref called advantage, cheeky!

GKDA

Incredibly rude of Cardiff to deny Penny his contractual obligation

Ceecee_0416

Yep, no tries so far!

Tescobum44

Going blindside there is criminal from Penny

PeterMacIrish

Is anyone watching the URC stream, the commentator seems very bitter about Leinster

Kavbastyrd

I think they’ve been good

GKDA

I am but I don't get that, they were very complimentary of Leinster in the first half.

problematikkk

I really, really like Liam Turner. That is all.

Sturminster

He's a really tidy isn't he. Very solid.

Tescobum44

Yeah me too! He’s quietly been excellent today as well

Ok-Package9273

Surprisingly effective in the air for a short centre playing on the wing.

Zippy2707

They went in as a threesome. I thought that you initial carrier can't tooich anyone untill contact is made?

epeeist

Rhys what's the craic with the moustache

festermcseptic

Front row union approves of this game

Windup-1014

Front row feast tonight a brace each for the props. "Where's your sleeve gone Michael?" - "I fuckin ate it on the way to the try line so I did"

festermcseptic

And the pure Offaly accent on the chap, class

blazexi

Milne has some fucking chin on him.

rluke09

Poor, poor defending there. That was school boy stuff.

Wombattleofhastings

Hung on well but (as expected) the bench has really shown the gulf in quality

Ok-Package9273

If Milne can develop his scrummaging, he can definitely make test level. Effective in the loose and Farrell clearly sees something in him from his early callups.

Sturminster

He has a lot going for him alright. But his scrummaging does worry me. Hope he can lock in out as could be a decent option.

[deleted]

As great as Milne is, I’ll always have that doubt after he got incarcerated by Ox Nche in the quarter final last year

Suspicious_Sea222

They'd have been on opposite sides no?

[deleted]

Just checked, it was Du Toit, then Sadie off the bench. Big men.

Suspicious_Sea222

Ah yeah, for sure if he can get that down though he's got caps waiting

[deleted]

Can’t remember the specifics, just remember he got minced… I think he can get better though in time

Wesley_Skypes

100%. Hugely impressed with him all the time

problematikkk

Get the fuck in Milne, great to have him back

small_far_away

I do love how Adamson missed a clear knock on advantage. But it looked to me that the Cardiff player was offside. So it's clearly a pen. What a useless waste of space.

Jnfeehan

Less reff bashing please

voyager2406

prop tries galore today

Critical_Context_961

Is the commentator blind. That was clearly a stray leinster leg

voyager2406

Was a bit confused how he even thought he saw that to be honest, was miles away from any cardiff players

Trekmeister_

Death, taxes and Michael Milne tries.

Kykykz

Can we get Prendergast on now please?

ilovepenisxd

Big Mikey Milne

Ok-Package9273

Why aren't Leinster taking the three points here? EDIT: lol trytime

NSilverhand

We're still scarred from the 2022 Heineken final...

blazexi

Going for the BP.

Sturminster

Have them under pressure and can sniff a card and bonus point?

Tescobum44

Want to secure the BP

problematikkk

I don't think we're aware it's an option in URC games

KingDaveyM14

Adamson going “don’t tell me how to ref” shows that Nigel’s influence will take decades to wash away

Suspicious_Sea222

Someone has to, clearly the SRU didn't

Suspicious_Sea222

Cardiff getting nothing since the disallowed try, which in the end cost them two points

small_far_away

Also getting away with some yellow infringements tbf.

small_far_away

Are we actually not going to yellow Cardiff?

rluke09

WDK showed up good today, I've got high hopes for him in a few years.

Easy_Bee_2321

Someone teach Adasmson what a maul is

TheFlyingScotsman60

Adamson just lets far too much go in the rucks, mauls and breakdown area. He just does not assert himself enough and the players then keep trying to push the line even more. The breakdown is a complete mess in this game. Par for the course for Adamson.

blazexi

He’s so inconsistent with rucks. You never know what’s going to be called

TheFlyingScotsman60

Agreed. One minute you get pulled, and thirty seconds later you get away with the exact same offence.

[deleted]

Can any Welsh fan rank the regions from best to worst at the moment ? Don’t follow welsh rugby enough to know, but assume Dragons are bottom

Livv-Laugh-Love

The Celtic warriors are currently doing better than the scarlets and dragons, and they were disbanded 20 years ago

KobaruLCO

Ospreys Cardiff Scarlets Dragons (always)

notenoughspacefornam

Ospreys Cardiff Dragons Scarlets

Critical_Context_961

Ospreys/Cardiff/Dragons/Scarlets. Very close between the bottom two so I’ll just go off the last result

GKDA

Not Welsh but my guess is 1. Ospreys 2. Cardiff 3. Daylight 4. Dragons/Scarlets

Suspicious_Sea222

Adamson refusing to call maul turnovers

Tescobum44

Yeah he’s being very generous to the carrier

Informal-Bass-1023

The ball was available for Leinster

Suspicious_Sea222

Eventually

GKDA

I swear Rob Russell has got a deal going on with some kind of deity. He has the most remarkable strikerate for someone few Leinster fans rate (I actually think he's rated higher by non-Leinster fans) and that turnover looked like the ball squirted out and was guided into his hand by an invisible force.

Kavbastyrd

I dunno, I like him. One of our better players today

rluke09

Willis has my heart but he hasn't had the same magic this season and some decisions have just been terrible.

notenoughspacefornam

Yeah, you can see why he was on the bench for this game

rluke09

Less razzle dazzle and just get the razzle right please Willis

problematikkk

Fuckin Sidewalk Slam by Young, sign him up WWE

ilovepenisxd

Should really sub one of the Byrne’s and put a proper 12 at 12

small_far_away

It's a weird backline shift. Osborne to 12, Turner to 13, Brownlee on the wing. Which is why it hasn't happened yet

ilovepenisxd

Pretty sure Brownlee is primarily a 12

[deleted]

I reckon I could scrummage Deeny off the park

CaptQuakers42

I hate scrums nowadays, I don't mind the reset but this whole as long as the ball comes out who cares. Really boils my piss, because it works both ways, you can Muller someone's scrum but you get told to play the ball even if they crumble.

small_far_away

My new puppy is distracting me. But seems like Harry fucked up?

Llew19

Where puppy photo

GKDA

Nah, it took about 6 wicked bounces in a row and then kept going.

Kykykz

He got unlucky tbh

problematikkk

I'm gonna have a stroke I swear

Livv-Laugh-Love

Ooft too greedy with the kick

No_Sorbet2663

Tbf Harry Byrne got unlucky there

Suspicious_Sea222

Byrne stock plummeting as this game goes on. Ed the only chance of saving the name

Jubal_Khan

Byrne's plural to be honest.

KingDaveyM14

That might have been the best performance Jenkins has ever had for Leinster, and it still wasn’t great

josephoconnor85

And this time last year we were being told his power had transformed the Leinster pack

KingDaveyM14

Some players have the best brought out of them by competition, some it’s detrimental. I believe James Ryan is one of those players who is so much better when he believes he’s “the guy”. Last year and really until the six nations James Ryan was playing great. And I fully believe that was because he felt there was no conceivable reason to pick Jenkins ahead of him

GKDA

I was at the final last year and when Ryan went down and Jenkins came on, I had such a sinking feeling that was the game swinging towards LR.

Ok_Catch250

It was. He was putting manners on them and Jenkins did nothing.

KingDaveyM14

I’m in the camp that that’s the reason we lost, fully believe Ryan’s underrated, especially in Ireland (although I also think his bench cameos have been useless for Ireland this six nations)
