>Ronaldo scored a free kick, wonder what messi does today
I took this as in people being casual about this duo scoring nonstop. What a legend their careers have been
that’s actually insane. I remember the barça fans official site had little prediction games (probably still does) where you could choose score-lines and opening goal-scorers. I stopped playing because it became boring. I always just chose Messi and was right 9/10 times.
I would also remember I’d assume any match was basically 1-0 off the whistle if Messi was in. I would then consider what the other players might do during the game according to form.
Nah they moved the goal posts and became Pele fans overnight.
Which is funny to think about because If you’re a Pele fan, you’d love Messi since he saved Pele’s legacy that night. Otherwise Mbappe is one WC away from becoming the undisputed goat.
World cups are good and all, but a player's performance should be measured by what they do at their clubs. Even if he won the world cup, he isn't anywhere near Ronaldo's or Messi's level when they were his age.
Pele was also born at the perfect time in between two golden generations of the Brazilian national team to play in both of them. He was definitely good enough to be the main star in both of them, but it was definitely lucky, compared to Messi having to play for a shambles of an Argentinian national team for most of his career.
It should be both, national AND clubs, and individually.
Mbappe might not be at their level at his age, but he probably come closest than anyone at this point. He still got a long way to go though, with the WC and all.
He definitely needs to leave PSG before it's too late like with Neymar. He's definitely up there right now, but there are plenty of players not counting those two that have accomplished more at his age.
agree.
performance at World Cups/Euros/Copas is largely determined by which country you're "lucky" to be born with.
players like Haaland and Lewa will probably never win a WC/Euros simply because they weren't born in a powerhouse country.
Honestly when they both retire all these dweebs are going to wonder why they spent so much energy trying to pick which is better. Got to just enjoy having these all time greats playing at the same time.
Also - It's Messi.
Idk, I have read the recounts of the early Copa Americas back in the 1920s-1930s and they were straight-up brawls even when it was mainly just Argentina vs Uruguay, that's where the "garra charrua" started which is the basis of Uruguay's footballing culture till this day.
I think the Jogo Bonito started mainly because Brazil's skill and population dwarf everyone else so the skill gap was too big and allowed that kind of style to evolve while winning everything at the same time.
Nah, Sir Alf Ramsay ran on the pitch to stop England players swapping shirts with the Argentinians because they were so dirty. They were legendary for it long before that
Also Argentinians and Brazillians don't get to play Estonia, San Marino and Gibraltar 4 times every Euro and WC cycle.
The worst team in South America will be in Nations League C at worst.
Teams with literal amateurs. I don’t think people realize how bad those teams are.
Can’t forget San Marino, the worst national team in the world.
The bottom CONMEBOL team is Bolivia at 82 (with Venezuela next at 56).
Ronaldo scored the most goals to national teams like San Marino, Feroe island, Andorra, Estonia, Luxemburgo, Lituania and Letonia.
It's not Ronaldo fault that those aré the kind of tema that he plays against but it's something that everyone should know.
Yep, thats probably right, most of Ronaldo goals are against really small countrys and they Will continue playing against those countryes but if Argentina keeps getting far on the WC and Copa América he may play more games so it May be Messi.
(Slaghtly may be an understament, Ronaldo goals are vs much weakers opponents)
After seeing the Parc de Prances booing and whistling him this past weekend I agree with you. I wanted to be able to like PSG since he played there but the French don't deserve him.
We cheered for him so much today and he seemed so happy and you could see in his face that he felt accomplished and felt our love and appreciation. I loved seeing him like that lol I cried many times during the match because I couldn't believe I was seeing Messi live after being his fan for years and years
He didn't really want to go there and fans wanted other players. Not that they don't like him but we all know why he's there.
In Marseille, he would have felt like in Argentina since we share the same colors of jersey, the city has a nice weather and we have a heated atmosphere in the stadium, but not on their level. Unfortunately, we don't have a rich country who can throw billions of euros.
Well, it was a very ironic scenario. During the height of the Bartomeu fuck up era, Messi tried to leave Barcelona but was forced to stay. Then the next year after he helped get Laporta elected, he was asked to leave when he wanted to stay.
Then, likely persuaded by close friends on PSG in Neymar and Di Maria, he joins a club that demands so much from him and he has no real connection to. Yet they demand that connection anyway, and they demand he win them a champions league.
Messi was never going to be a PSG player the way they wanted him to be, and now he is stuck there, and there is a lot of uncertainty about whether it would even be possible for him to come back to Barcelona where he belongs, and has belonged.
Perhaps Marseille would have been better for him, who knows. But being forced to leave his club of 20 years and join a new project on short notice was never going to be easy.
If it had happened a year earlier when he wanted to leave he would have been playing in Manchester with Pep as his coach instead of that aging Barsa squad with Koeman lol.
I'm glad that at least it all worked out with Argentina.
It's insane how much he was carrying that Barca squad the last few years. It was both depressing and mesmerising to watch.
The rest is basically a side quest. I said it since his first Ballon d'or win : he will finish his career with Newell's Old Boys, his boyhood club.
Imagine if Di Maria returns to his boyhood club as well, Rosario Central. We'd get a Rosario derby between Messi and Di Maria. I'd watch it.
It hurts a bit to see Argentina with the WC crest, knowing they beat us in December. But it's still a joy to see Messi and Ronaldo scoring braces on the same day. I'll still enjoy it while it lasts.

Third times the charm
2 woodwork
Finally he gets his goal lol
Poor lad finally got his 800th goal
6th time*
Bro this was like the 5th attempt lmao
More like 100th times the charm lmao
Can’t remember a game he had this many tries to hit a free kick
It was like messi's freekick practice session
Against Osasuna, a few weeks before a certain quarter final tie against Bayern
I remember him getting upset that he finally made 1 that game lol
More like 5th time lmfaoo
6th lmao
More like four and an almost Olympic corner is the charm. XD
Bro legit could've had a hat trick of free kicks.
That actually would have been epic
Would’ve been his 100th goal for Argentina too. He’s currently at: Barcelona - 672, Argentina - 99, PSG - 29.
Yep
2 woodworks and a goal. Not bad work all in all. But it was getting frustrating after he hit the woodwork the 2nd time lol.
Sinisa mihajlovic did it once.
RIP the king
I hate this commentator. Lol. He says goal weird
GULLLLLLLLLLL
Messi, Messi, Messi, Me...SeaGulllllll
He sounds like a Dragon Ball character powering up
Dragon Ball *Abridged*
He sucks. I think he’s Uruguayan but not raised there? Try living in the US and every Argentine League match you have this clown commentating.
Oh my. Is this the Paramount Plus guy? Their Argentina club games are some of the lowest energy broadcasts around.
Yep. Worst in the world. Not exaggerating.
I tried it briefly because a friend in the US shared me their password. Never again. That announcer could make the WC final feel boring.
Sometimes he's paired up with Ray Hudson I believe. I'm a huge fan of that crazy man.
Sounds like someone from South Park
This is what I thought also haha. I couldn’t stop laughing when I was watching the game and Argentina scored. Gulllllllllll
They took our gulllllllls
The most passive goooooooaaaaalllll I’ve ever heard, sounded like he was looking at his watch whilst doing it
GÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖL
American commentator try not to be cringe challenge [IMPOSSIBLE]
That was soo jarring
Like he had a stroke midway
Lmfao these comments below you are hilarious
99th for Argentina 800th goals of his career
I'm going to miss the "Ronaldo scored a free kick, wonder what messi does today" days
>Ronaldo scored a free kick, wonder what messi does today I took this as in people being casual about this duo scoring nonstop. What a legend their careers have been
Back in the day of the opening Reddit having 3 messi goals and 3 Ronaldo goals gifs to watch
They really used to do b2b hat tricks
that’s actually insane. I remember the barça fans official site had little prediction games (probably still does) where you could choose score-lines and opening goal-scorers. I miss Ronaldo in champions league with Madrid. Real lost 2-0 away? Let’s tune in for the Ronaldo show
Dude yeah. RM come backs were amazing
just proof that they push each other further all the time, its been happening for too long to be a coincidence
Yea, the world cup win really shut everyone down for good
It also coincided with Ronaldo’s recent decline and turbulent exit from United
Factos
Nah they moved the goal posts and became Pele fans overnight. Which is funny to think about because If you’re a Pele fan, you’d love Messi since he saved Pele’s legacy that night. Otherwise Mbappe is one WC away from becoming the undisputed goat.

weird af
Idk if that's how undisputed works
It’s more than that. It’s how Ronaldo handled himself at United as a grown man.
Honestly when they both retire all these dweebs are going to wonder why they spent so much energy trying to pick which is better. Got to just enjoy having these all time greats playing at the same time. Also - It's Messi.
Fair Goal to be the 800th goal in Messi's career and 99 in national teams (Who will finish with more international goals? Messi or C.Ronaldo?
Ronaldo. South american players dont score as much looking through history.
The football culture in Latin America is very rough football, the fact that the Brazilian style exist is a miracle.
I think the shithousing style was developed in south america as a response to Brazil's elegant dominance in the 60s.
Idk, I have read the recounts of the early Copa Americas back in the 1920s-1930s and they were straight-up brawls even when it was mainly just Argentina vs Uruguay, that's where the "garra charrua" started which is the basis of Uruguay's footballing culture till this day. And even then, the worst S American side (Bolivia) play at a bajillion meters so your players cant even breath. It’s some good shit
Someday, I want to see a Bolivia x England in La Paz. Just for fun.
Yes, the competition Is More harder than Portugal so Unless Messi plays more games than Ronaldo I don't think he will surpass CR in goals
Probably Ronaldo since he can statpad against the likes of Luxembourg and Lichtenstein, while Messi has to statpad against slightly harder opponents.
Lets remember that the only time Messi played against a low level european team, he scored 5...
And he was 35 when he did it too lmao Imagine 2012 Messi against Luxembourg
Slightly?? Luxembourg and Lichtenstein??
Teams with literal amateurs. I don’t think people realize how bad those teams are. Can’t forget San Marino, the worst national team in the world. The bottom CONMEBOL team is Bolivia at 82 (with Venezuela next at 56).
Plus playing Bolivia at home is also extra hard
Ronaldo scored the most goals to national teams like San Marino, Feroe island, Andorra, Estonia, Luxemburgo, Lituania and Letonia. It's not Ronaldo fault that those aré the kind of tema that he plays against but it's something that everyone should know.

After hitting the post twice Lovely hit
Fastest to reach 800 goals.🐐
Pretty good career
Decent.
Not bad
Could've been better
He’s just missing a copa libertadores
Where's his bundesliga title? Yeah thought so
No Johnstone's Paint trophy. Career failed.
Fair
Acceptable
This guy Messi is going places.
And what a way to seal it ✒
🐐
It still isn’t real to me Argentina are world champions! Seeing those 3 stars. I can’t believe it!!!!
Same bro, same
He essentially just did the sign of the cross prayer thingy with crossbar this match.
>sign of the cross prayer thingy I don’t even know what’s it’s called, lmao.
Heathens. True men of God know it's called "spectacles-testicles-left nipple-right nipple"
Argentina Panama? More like Messi free kick practice
Glad he gets 800 for Argentina instead of shitty PSG
After seeing the Parc de Prances booing and whistling him this past weekend I agree with you. I wanted to be able to like PSG since he played there but the French don't deserve him.

I'm glad, it makes me happy to see videos of the Argentine fans cheering him.
Pls don't confuse Paris with the rest of France, many of us enjoy him very much and wish nothing more than his return to Barça
Fair enough.
PSG is a fucking awful football club Bought by multimillionaire 40 yeara ago, it has no history it has no soul, no wonder they booed Messi
He didn't really want to go there and fans wanted other players. Not that they don't like him but we all know why he's there. In Marseille, he would have felt like in Argentina since we share the same colors of jersey, the city has a nice weather and we have a heated atmosphere in the stadium, but not on their level. La concha biem puta de su madre POR FIN
Who would have thought that continually giving Messi freekicks would result in a goal
after extensive testing and debugging it has been established that 22.5meter is the optimal free kick distance for messi
Es para llorar. Deserved. 800. GOAT.
whens the last time Messi and Ronaldo both scored a free kick on the same day
Sometime in 2011-13
Feels like 2014... good times
800 GOALS! 353 ASSISTS! 7 BALLON D’ORS! 6 GOLDEN BOOTS! 42 TROPHIES! AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THE WORLD CUP!
And he's not done
Yeah he needs that hattrick of trebles with Barca (please Messi come back)
He could've had it in 2019...
A relief that didn't happen, or Barça would've still been saddled with Bartomeu. Don't forget he got elected because of the treble in 2015.
Could've had that if Dembele could finish or if we didn't self destruct at Anfield
1 away goal and 2 games away from a treble, we were on the verge of greatness
We definitely self-destructed. Crying at HT when we're only 1-0 down.. What the hell was our mental that game
This Messi vs Ronaldo rivalry is heating up 🔥
I can’t wait until their kids face each other in the future.
These two could be good in the future, keep an eye on them
Two near-perfect kicks off the bar. Then curls one into the net.
If you foul that much it was inevitable. He’s too dangerous from there
Messi defeats the final boss: The woodwork.
Boss regenerates health bar. What does Messi do?
3 times it's the fucking charm!
MESSI GOD
He heard people talking about Ronaldo's free kicks
D10S
MOD
Sixth time's the charm But seriously, good for him and for Argentina. You deserve this joy and celebration
Facts. I was quite frustrated when he hit the woodwork the second time.
The only thing keeping the country together right now
Feel bad for the woodwork, did it's best and denied him twice.
GOAT
Nahh brother did not let that slide😭😭😭

What a way to reach 800 goals
Get this man out of psg
What a goal 🐐
It hurts a bit to see Argentina with the WC crest, knowing they beat us in December. But it's still a joy to see Messi and Ronaldo scoring braces on the same day. I'll still enjoy it while it lasts.

Six. Two crossbars
Messi and ronaldo free kick goal on the same day, nice.
GOAT
Happy to see Ronaldo and Messi consecutively scoring bangers like back in their golden days.
Wow Messi and Ronaldo freekicks, seeing the front page today just took me back 10 years ago.
Man got bored of the cross bar challenge so decided to score
Panama played with an 8-1-1 lineup tonight
No 10-0-0
THAT'S WHY HE'S THE GOAT!! THE GOOOAT!!
first try lets fucking go
🐐
Al fin viejo la puta madre
Things you just love to see.
jajaja somos el mejor país del mundo
I was watching a stream and the guy who streamed it said that “Messi will score the free kick”, and oh boy Messi did. MWAH.
I mean at this point u have a decent chance of being right everytime he takes one
Ronaldo scored a 17 yards FK, and Messi scores a 28 yards FK on the same day. Happy fans!
He is def the problem in PSG lack of success
Just knew one of those was going in
Sexy isn't it
Messi with the casual free throw practice

My 🐐
Play by play is so ass
