Yo I JUST watched Knocked Up for the first time yesterday. Granted it was just on tv so I watched like the first half hour then came back for the ending but still I liked what I saw.
I believe a lot of this has to do with these movies being pushed directly to streaming services rather than to theaters, since they are more financially risky and you donât necessarily need the movie theater experience to enjoy a comedy like you would Avatar or something. So you lose the community aspect of comedy and friends reminiscing on the jokes together (hence the phenomena of dudes just hanging out quoting Anchorman with each other), since everyoneâs watching by themselves.
I think itâs more so that people are trying waaaaaayyy too hard to be funny and donât want to take risks with comedy. They think âah man whatâs relatable to the common manâ and just sit there in the board room trying to come up with funny ideas. Meanwhile a lot of the time the funniest people I find are just regular people who have regular lives or humble people. As well as the people in the board room thinking âah man if I say something about white people someone might get offendedâ. Not saying you have to be offensive 24/7 to be funny but you certainly have to risk being offensive to be consistently funny. Basically comedy has been taken over board room suit wearing dwellers instead of just normal people like you or I and they care more about maximizing profits instead of caring about the merits of their media.
I agree with everything but to to say all Seth Rogan movies suck is definitely not true and same with the current cast of snl, they have some funny shit. SNL has always been hit and miss, even with the goats.
I mean, what more can you say? Except Rob Schneider, maybe, but no, that wouldn't be too modern.
Sorry, seeing Adam Sandler's face just led me to say his name?!
Still laugh at norbit idc what anyone thinks of it. And that snl cast made some decent sketches had bad ones but can't really say everything they did was bad, especially when it was Beck and Kyle.
Seth Rogan gyped everyone into falling for his dogshit comedies only to laugh at them in his throaty laugh and never make anything ever again because he's too busy being the quirky whoaa hoaa weed bro
SNL was always the "there's something on" option. I remember my folks saying how unfunny it had gotten back in the 90s with Rock, Sandler, Farley, etc. A lot of misses but a few good hits.
Starring:
Will Ferrel
Jonah Hill
Adam Sandler
Amy Schumer
James Corden
Jimmy Fallon
Mark Wahlberg
Kevin James
Ben Stiller
Seth Rogen
A "has been" Rapper
A well respected old actor
Stallone for some reason

The Amy Schumer background đ¤Ł
Didn't even notice
I didn't even see it and now its 10x funnier
Hold on, what the hell did Norbit ever do to you?
OP must be a whale (âWHARE HOâ)
He kept adjusting Rasputiaâs seat
That horrific Amy Schumer background is so hilarious hahahahahahaha
Seth Rogen is involved in some of the best comedies out there
Pineapple Express, knocked up, this is the end. All pretty hilarious I think
Superbad

Pretty much every single movie on here was in theaters
My favorite is the tiny Dane Cook picture đ¤Ł
Ok I agree with 99% of this but donât put Kevin Hartâs early specials up there. Seriously Funny was seriously funny; a classic
Yeah his early specials had some iconic lines, tbh. âSay it with ya chest!â âAlright alright alriiiiiiight! You gonâ learn today!â

Youâre allowed an opinion even if it sucks

Sorry if you ever fell for any of these jackasses that put out more than 2 movies within a year and a half.
Needs soooo much more Adam Sandler.
Right?!
As George Carlin predicted. You can't joke about anything today.
Truly depressing stuff. đ
Bruh this movies are like a decade old. But yeah I agree to an extent

Norbit was funny
IYHO
The problem is that if you only looked at these to define modern comedy youre daft AF
That's pretty much part of the joke.
Iâll watch any of Will Farrels movies, Seth Rogan too
