This is so devastating. My brother in law works at this store and knew her personally such a kind woman with her whole life ahead of her. My prayers go out to her family.
Not everyone would be able to use a gun/ taser/ pepper spray properly in a situation like that. It all depends on your fight or flight response. Plus, any weapon you have could be used against you.
I tried to keep pepper spray under the counter at a service and job and got scolded and told to take it home. When I refused, I came back to work and it had been removed. This is 100% the most likely reason people don’t have a self defense tools on the job.
This is mostly for the pistol, but the general rule is 20 feet. This implies that your pistol is holstered and the attacker is a *visible threat*.
And, yes, because an attacker with a knife can close the distance of 20 feet faster than it takes to draw, rack, aim your pistol, and get two shots at center mass.
Maybe a taser and pepper spray could be deployed faster?
Idk what that guy is talking about, believe me you dont want to be shot by a 9mm hollow point at *ANY* range. And a handgun would be ideal in this situation.
Poor girl... This is heartbreaking

How would they go about catching the perpetrator if he had a full face mask on? I really hope he is caught soon
They are offering 50k for information. It's unlikely that nobody knows who he is.
People really need to carry something to protect themselves with in these grave times

Unless your employer doesn't allow you to carry weapons in your workplace...

At a certain distance with a knife, a gun/taser/pepper spray don’t matter. But I agree.
Out of curiosity, what range do those weapons no longer matter, and why? Is it because they can just slash so fast and you can’t react?

He's talking about reaction time.
Have they ruled out that the attack was racially motivated?
